Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, Tracy Morgan and the rest of the cast of "30 Rock" did it again -- took their show live two times in one night -- and, as expected, hilarity ensued.
As the show moved from their normal location to the set of "Saturday Night Live," it only seems appropriate that the episode was closer to a sketch comedy with a through line than anything else.
The 2012 version upped the ante from 2010's live show, featuring some outstanding guest stars including Jon Hamm, Donald Glover and Amy Poehler. Unlike last time around, there were no nipple slips and only a few gaffes.
Just as they did the first time, there were two versions, one for the East Coast and one for the West Coast. Because we have an eagle eye and a DVR, we decided to point out the differences between the two shows.

[1] There's probably a good movie to be made from what Bad Teacher's working with, but sadly, this is not that movie. On paper, I love the idea of Cameron Diaz playing a hilariously, irredeemably selfish teacher who's mean to her students, with a supporting cast of seasoned comedians to back her up. In practice, despite some genuinely funny gags performed by talented, funny people, Bad Teacher never manages to rise past mediocrity. Directed by Jake Kasdan (Orange County) from a script by The Office writers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, Bad Teacher follows Elizabeth Halsey (Diaz), a caustic, irresponsible, materialistic junior high school teacher whose only goal in life is to snag a rich man so she can quit her job and live in luxury. She's got her sights on a wealthy new substitute teacher named Scott Delacorte (Diaz's real-life ex Justin Timberlake), who in turn has his eye...

To say that Elizabeth Halsey (Cameron Diaz) is lacking the necessary skills to be a decent teacher would be an understatement of epic proportions. Prone to staggering into work nursing a debilitating hangover and generally treating all her high school students with the utmost contempt, she’s biding her time before its wedding bells for her and her extremely wealthy fiancé.
Trouble starts when said fiancé is pressured into dumping her by his non-nonsense mother and Halsey is forced to stay on at the school she despises. Pretty soon she spots another potential big win in the form of a new substitute teacher and heir to a big clothing empire, Scott Delacorte (Justin Timberlake). She discovers however, that Scott is also being pursued by another colleague, the exasperatingly jolly and perpetually breezy Amy Squirrell (Lucy Punch). Halsey decides that perhaps a little surgical enhancement may sway Delacorte’s opinion and...

Move over, Meat Loaf and also the person who came up with the title for 5nal Destination, cause Mariah Carey is releasing a sequel to her 1994 Merry Christmas album entitled Merry Christmas II You, hitting Best Buy front-of-store racks and homes of parents who still purchase compact discs this November: Finally! So many loose ends left unanswered on that first album. Who is coming to town? Is there a lot of noise in the night? Was that really all she wants for Christmas? Was Santa Keyser Soze for some reason? Did the Christmas top drop? Surely, closure was Mariah’s main motivation for randomly releasing this album, in addition to this. Unrelatedly, I just noticed that “Silent Night” was composed by someone named Franz Gruber, which is way too close to Die Hard villainy for my tastes. I no longer trust that song. (via Idolator)...

The big franchise to ponder this week is Die Hard. Bruce Willis wants to do a fifth installment, and it will probably happen given the way Hollywood thinks. But what direction should it go in? Willis wants John McClane to go global. Monika wants the character to be killed off. Some studio exec out there probably just wants to reboot the whole thing with Sam Worthington as the average-Joe cop who finds himself fish out of water in the middle of a terrorist plot. I kind of like the idea of going back to the beginning, but not for a remake. Well, not of Die Hard.
I just want Alan Rickman to return as villain Hans Gruber. There will never be a better Die Hard villain than him, and thanks to the Harry Potter franchise (and Love Actually?), Rickman is now a more celebrated actor than he was 22 years ago.
