The Hills Have Eyes 2. No, not that one. That’s The Hills Have Eyes Part 2 and has one of the greatest things ever filmed where a dog, an actual dog, has a flashback and its just, muah, chef’s kiss. While I actually think that original 1985 sequel is way too much fun for its own good – it was written and directed by Craven, brings back Michael Berryman, has Harry Manfredini give us the score, and oh yeah, has a dog flashback. A Dog, Flashback – I’m not here to talk about that one that is probably so bad it’s good. I’m here to discuss the true black sheep of this inbred mountain family and give you all a look at the movie that is not a remake of the sequel but rather a sequel to the remake. The Hills Have Eyes 2 (watch it Here) is a...

Earlier today, we took a look back the Wes Craven-directed 2005 thriller Red Eye… so we figured, why not follow that up by taking a look at a remake of a Craven horror film that was released the year after Red Eye reached theatres? The movie we’re taking about is the 2006 version of The Hills Have Eyes (watch it Here), a remake of Craven’s 1977 classic. It’s time for this one to be revisited, and you can hear all about it in the embed above.
While the original film was written and directed by Craven, Alexandre Aja directed the remake from a screenplay he wrote with Grégory Levasseur. Here’s the synopsis: Bob Carter and his wife Ethel, along with five other members of the family, are heading for San Diego with their camper van. An accident strands them in the desert and while two of the men go for help,...

When I think back on the ABC fairytale series Once Upon a Time, I first and foremost picture the “requel” season’s Cinderella 2.0 on a motorcycle.
Just kidding; no I don’t. And I’d argue that no Ouat fan does. And yet that is the hero/landing page image that Hulu chose to trumpet Ouat‘s return to the platform, which now shares custody of the series with sister streamer Disney+.

It’s a time-honored staple of survival shows: If there’s a group of people in a high-stakes situation during which a pregnancy would be remarkably inconvenient — if not downright deadly — someone’s pregnant. Examples include Claire (Emilie De Ravin) on Lost, Evelyn (Emily Blunt) in A Quiet Place, Sharon Agathon (Grace Park) on Battlestar Galactica, and so on. On Yellowjackets, Shauna (Sophie Nelisse) winds up the bearer of the “pregnant survivor” trope. However, this being Yellowjackets, we’re wondering how this familiar story might be flipped on its head… perhaps through supernatural-wilderness means. We know Teen Shauna grows up to become Melanie Lynskey, so she won’t die in childbirth. But what happened to that baby? Munch with us on these three potential theories. Kailey Schwerman/Showtime Theory #1: Shauna Loses the Baby On the surface, this seems the most likely route for the show to take. To say...

One of the best parts of "Lost" season one was its flashback structure. This was a show with a massive cast, and having each episode give us a close look at a specific character's life helped to make them all feel special and compelling. The "Lost" writers understood how to play with our expectations, so season 1 was filled with flashbacks that radically reshaped our understanding of certain characters. Most notable is "Walkabout," the fourth episode of the series, which reveals in its final moments that John Locke (Terry O'Quinn) had been paralyzed from the waist down prior to the plane crash.
Even when it wasn't blowing our minds with any big revelations, the flashback structures still helped to deepen our understanding of each character and add context to their current struggles. If "Lost" had chosen to simply stick to the on-island storylines, the show would've been worse off for it.

The new episode of our The Black Sheep video series doubles as a Christmas viewing recommendation, as we’re taking a look back at the 2005 horror comedy slasher Santa’s Slay (watch it Here) – which stars professional wrestler Bill Goldberg as a very unpleasant Santa Claus. To find out all about the movie and why we think it deserves to be seen by more genre fans, check out the video embedded above!
Written and directed by David Steiman, Santa’s Slay has the following synopsis: It turns out that Santa Claus is not really the sweet old fellow that we all know and love. In fact, he’s a devil and the only thing that’s kept his bad side in check was a bet he lost with an angel. After 1000 years of playing nice, the bet is up and Santa is about to open up a can of Whoop-Ass! The only...

Rian Johnson is one of the most promising filmmakers to emerge in recent decades, with an energetic storytelling style and a penchant for narratives that capture the feel of familiar genres while subverting his audience’s expectations at nearly every turn. With a film career that — so far — almost exclusively spans the mystery and sci-fi genres, he has become one of the most intriguing contemporary pulp filmmakers we’ve got. But sometimes his cleverness can overwhelm his films and undermine what he seems to be trying to accomplish. So let’s explore his impressively creative and eccentric filmography, and rank his films from the least effective to the most.

The first half of Rian Johnson’s first sci-fi film is so intricately realized that you might not even notice it doesn’t make sense. “Looper” takes place in a world where assassins like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) are hired to...

We have to go back, /Film readers! Back to the Island filled with research stations, smoke monsters, birds that shout "Hurley!," eerie whispers, and mystical electromagnetic fields that heal paralysis. Although "Lost" premiered almost two decades ago, it left a lasting impact on television -- inspiring a plethora of mystery shows, including everything from ABC's "Flashforward" and Epix's "From." The ABC show fueled the audience's appetite for serialized and mystery-forward storytelling. Additionally, "Lost" launched the careers of many people involved -- not least of all "Watchmen" showrunner Damon Lindelof.
Looking back at "Lost," it's incredible to track where the show began and how its twists forever altered characters' fates. While the series occasionally meandered -- frustrating viewers with more questions than answers -- its characters were the show's beating heart. Let's take a trip down memory lane to revisit some old friends. Crank Petula Clark's "Downtown," climb on...

Rarriwuy Hick leads the ensemble cast of Bunya Productions’ drama True Colours (formerly Copping It Black), now shooting in the Northern Territory’s Macdonnell Ranges for Sbs and Nitv.

The beauty of Indigenous art and the sometimes-devious practices in the global art market take the detective on an epic hunt for a killer.
Starring alongside Hick are Luke Arnold, Erroll Shand, Emilie de Ravin, Trisha Morton-Thomas, Ben Oxenbould and Miranda Otto.

Tagline: "Breathe. Think. Survive." Wreckage is a thriller from director Marco Ristori (Eaters: Rise of the Dead). Developed from a screenplay by Luca Boni and A.J. Roswell, New Mexico is largely a carbon copy of the original, and full of faces you'll recognize.
This Roswell, New Mexico review contains spoilers.
Roswell, New Mexico Episode 1 Review
Roswell, New Mexico. It’s one of those places so iconic, so singularly famous for one specific thing that it doesn’t even warrant an explanation. Back in 1999, it was the show that launched the careers of Shiri Applebee, Katherine Heigl, Colin Hanks (not that he needed launching), and several other faces you know, even if their names are less familiar, like Nick Wechsler, Brendan Fehr, and Emilie de Ravin (Lost). And now, 20 years and a few changes later, it’s back.
Notably, Roswell, New Mexico isn’t a sequel to 1999’s Roswell. Even though everyone is roughly 10 years older, and the original show took place 10 years ago, these events--namely the inciting incidents of Liz’s death and revival and the...

(Spoiler alert: Please do not read ahead unless you’ve seen the series finale of “Once Upon a Time.”)
Sadly, Robert Carlyle’s Rumpelstiltskin did not make it to end of “Once Upon a Time.” But that doesn’t mean he didn’t get to live happily ever after, just like all the other fairytale characters we have come to know and love over the last seven seasons.
The final episode of Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis’ fantasy drama on ABC, titled “Leaving Storybrooke,” aired Friday, and with it came the bittersweet reveal that in order for everyone else to be saved, Rumple would have to sacrifice himself in a battle against himself (it makes sense if you watched it). And he knew that meant giving up any chance he had of reuniting with his one true love Belle (Emilie de Ravin).

There’s a tiny plaque at the front door of the Steveston, British Columbia cafe that provides the exterior for Once Upon a Time‘s Granny’s. It reads:
Everyone Who Passes Through This Door Brings

It sounds like Once Upon a Time is going out with a happily ever after for most characters.
According to TV Line, Jennifer Morrison, Josh Dallas, Ginnifer Goodwin and Emilie de Ravin will return to the fairytale drama for its two-part series finale.
They join Sean Maguire, Victoria Smurfit, JoAnna Garcia-Swisher, Robbie Kay, Lee Arenberg, Keegan Tracy, Tony Amendola, Jared Gilmore and Beverley Elliot who were previously confirmed to be making comebacks.
The series famously rebooted for Once Upon a Time Season 7, and the action shifted from Storybrooke to Hyperion Heights, and that meant some of the original actors departed.

But the big revamp failed to reverse the show's downward trajectory. On Friday nights, the series has slumped over 40 percent to 2.4 million viewers and a 0.5 rating among adults 18-49.
ABC swung the ax on the series earlier this year after seven seasons.

“Once Upon a Time” ends its run in May with a series finale, “Leaving Storybrooke,” that will see the return of one-time stars Jennifer Morrison, Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas. They all left the show last year at the end of season 6, after Morrison’s character, Emma Swann, got her happy ending. She married her long-time love Captain Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) as her parents Snow White (Goodwin) and Prince Charming (Dallas) looked on lovingly.
Morrison has been seen only once in this season 7 reboot, which jumped ahead several decades and focused on her now grown-up son Henry (Andrew J. West) and his daughter Lucy (Alison Fernandez). Tapped for a return appearance in the third last installment, episode 20, is Jared Gilmore as young Henry who will figure prominently in flashbacks.
