Forty years after putting down the Power Station broom and picking up the microphone, Jon Bon Jovi is in an introspective mood.
The man who co-wrote iconic songs including “Livin’ on a Prayer” and “Keep the Faith” is preparing for the release of Hulu’s four-part docuseries Thank You, Goodnight, directed by Gotham Chopra.
Initially planned as a career retrospective around the band’s 40th anniversary – Bon Jovi’s eponymous album was released on January 21, 1984 – the series added another element to the story, that of its lead singer’s health issues that have raised question marks about the band’s future.
Thank You, Goodnight, which premieres April 26, highlights the highs and lows of being in a band, the drugs and the difficulties of remaining successful and wanting to evolve but not wanting to alienate its audience, in addition to its leader’s health issues. It’s not a “VH1 puff piece,...

For her 90th birthday on Wednesday, animal rights champion Dr. Jane Goodall has made a video in which she and many famous friends plead for compassion for animals. “I’m sure all of you will agree you can’t spend time with an animal and not know that we are not the only beings with personalities, minds, and emotions,” she says at the beginning of the video.

Sheryl Crow has tried everything: She’s read Eckhart Tolle and Deepak Chopra, consulted with Jesus and Buddha, and even taken mushrooms. Yet, as she sings on her new single, “Do It Again,” she keeps making the same mistakes. As a first-generation American born and raised in New England, Gotham Chopra was always obsessed with two things: storytelling and sports.
“For me, sports in Boston was just an obsession. It was a way of becoming American,” the Religion of Sports cofounder told TheWrap for this week’s Office With a View. “As I grew up, I was just one of those kids who loved stories, who got obsessed with cameras and I was a writer by background.” (It probably didn’t hurt that his father is noted author Deepak Chopra.)
Chopra’s first job out of college was a Channel One reporter covering international conflict, which allowed him to travel to Chechnya, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Colombia, Iran and Iraq. But he yearned to have a career that had the ability to unite sports and storytelling.

The six-part series, directed by Robert Schober, becomes available Tuesday on major VOD platforms through Altrd.TV.
“It is becoming obvious that psychedelics do decrease inflammation, do restore what we might call homeostasis or self-regulation, do alleviate the symptoms of depression, anxiety, and even suicidal ideation,” Chopra tells Deadline, “and do have a role, as we move into the future, of alleviating a lot of suffering in both chronic physical disease and chronic mental disease.”

Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon has shared his thoughts about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, following Prince Harry’s confirmation of attendance at King Charles III’s coronation next month.
The British-born punk musician, also known by his stage name Johnny Rotten, lives just 60 miles away from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Montecito, California home. After the couple stepped down as senior working royals in 2020, the two relocated their family to Markle’s home state of California. Since then, they’ve shared several bombshell revelations about their time in the royal family – from their tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, to their six-part Netflix docuseries, to Harry’s memoir, Spare.
In an interview with The Telegraph published on 12 April, Lydon expressed his sympathy with Harry and Meghan’s decision to leave the United Kingdom. However, he admitted that he doesn’t “like the noise they’re making” since walking away from the royal family.

However, the couple’s spiritual adviser, Deepak Chopra, believes Harry and Meghan have “too much drama” surrounding them. Here’s why he thinks this is true.

Mike Myers “knows nothing” about a recent claim that alleges he had a crew member on “The Love Guru” fired because he looked at him straight in the eyes. Vancouver radio DJ Jay Brody caused a stir on social media when he shared a video of Keanu Reeves helping move production equipment on the set of “John Wick: Chapter 4.”
“People saying that ‘[Keanu] shouldn’t be praised for helping’ have no idea what it’s like working in film,” Brody posted on Twitter. “Mike Myers had me fired off the set of ‘The Love Guru’ because I made eye contact with him, and I was there as his bodyguard…give Keanu his roses.”
Brody later clarified in a follow-up video that he was not Myers’ direct bodyguard on set but worked for the film security unit on the set of “The Love Guru,” Myers’ infamous 2008 flop co-starring Jessica Alba and Justin Timberlake.

Deepak Chopra has boarded Vikas Khanna’s documentary short “Barefoot Empress” as executive producer.
In the film, Khanna, a Michelin starred chef and filmmaker, tells the story of 96-year-old Karthyayani Amma (pictured above) as she realizes her dream of getting an education by joining a first-grade class in India.
In the trailer she can be seen soaking up a lesson amidst a classroom of girls a tenth of her age. “I’m not ashamed to be sitting in a classroom with students of my great-grandchildren’s age,” she says.
Academy Award nominee Doug Roland produces the film, which will be used to raise funds for provision of high-quality education for girls in India’s underserved communities.
It has already helped refurbish and equip eleven classrooms in India and more are planned for the future.
“Barefoot Empress” was inspired by Khanna’s grandmother, who was also denied an opportunity for education.

One of music's cutest and most talented pairs, Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz, haven't always been the loved-up, carefree couple they appear as today. In fact, if we rewind to their early romance, it involves a bit of scandal.
The piano-playing Grammy winner actually met Swizz Beatz - whose given name is Kasseem Dean - when they were both teenagers, she told Marie Claire UK in 2013. It wasn't love at first sight, though. "Everything with him is really over the top. I used to see him and think, 'He is so annoying,'" she told the magazine.
And while her team tried to get her to work with the producer and DJ professionally, she resisted because she just didn't vibe with him. Once she gave in, though, it went better than she expected, and she told Marie Claire UK that they "had a ball" together.

Cognizant of the ever-raw emotion elicited by monumental civil unrest, Chilean producer-directors Carola Fuentes and Rafael Valdeavellano glimpse boldly into the Neoliberal structures that seemingly divided and destroyed a nation’s prosperity.
With a lens on the uphill battle to achieve a semblance of peace amidst a global pandemic, a country makes an historic and eager leap towards progress, a new constitution and leader at the fore.
“Breaking The Brick” dutifully follows the pair’s 2015 feature-length documentary, “Chicago Boys,” which interviewed authors in charge of drafting El Ladrillo, a Neoliberal free market text-turned economic model influenced by Milton Friedman and instituted by the Pinochet dictatorship. Though touted as a miraculous way to bring prosperity to Chile, the system eventually drew criticism when the public saw wealth disparities spiral.

In the last five years, documentaries about robots and AI seem to be everywhere. Some are about human vs. AI matches in the game of go, while others, about our addiction to algorithm-controlled social media, but what seems to connect all of them is the perennially unanswerable question “What makes us human?” Ann Shin’s newest documentary “A.rtificial I.mmortality” tackles the same topic from the perspective of memory.
“A.rtificial I.mmortality” is screening at San Diego Asian Film Festival
At its core, “A.rtificial I.mmortality” is a semi-autobiographical essay-like documentary – an event in the director’s immediate surroundings pushes her to learn more about AI and the preservation of memory with the intention of preserving her own memory for her two daughters’ sake. And in the process, she discovers something about the world and human nature.
