Veteran star Michael Caine believes every man should be forced to do National Service and hates “wokery.” The 90-year-old was 12 when World War Two ended and was called up to the army when he was 18 and sent to occupied Berlin – before he was sent to fight in Korea a year later, reports aceshowbiz.com.
“I think every young man should be made to do it. It truly makes a man of you,” he told the Daily Mail’s You magazine.
But Caine said he soon fell in love with the money he could make from acting when he came out of service. He added: “I only became an actor after I left the army… I got a movie and was like, ‘F*** this! I love films more. I liked the money and all.”
Caine’s latest film is ‘The Great Escaper’, in which he plays real-life World War Two veteran Bernard Jordan.

Sir Michael Caine is an absolute acting legend, known for his wide range of roles from serious dramas to comic-book movies. As it turns out, though, his real life is more cinematic than we could have imagined. Caine has been married to Guyanese actress and model Shakira Caine (previously Shakira Baksh) since 1973, and the way they met is straight out of a Hollywood showbiz rom-com.
Back in 1971, Shakira starred in a British commercial for Maxwell House coffee. Caine saw the commercial and thought she was "the most beautiful [woman] he had ever seen." Caine planned to actually fly to wherever she lived to meet her, but he found out she actually lived in London - and they had a mutual friend in the advertising business who was able to connect them.

Back in the 1970s, the British tax authorities thought it was a good idea to take about 90% of one’s annual earnings, which led multitudes of showbizzers, including a certain British pop-rock-blues band called the Rolling Stones, to bugger off to the South of France where they proceeded to save about 60% of their income and also produce one of the towering rock album masterpieces of the era, “Exile on Main Street.”
Nearly 50 years later, at the South France country home of ex-Stone/writer-producer-musicologist-archivist-and-more Bill Wyman and his wife Suzanne, the Wymans are still celebrating the fruits of the U.K. taxman’s barmy scheme.
“I first came here in 1971 and I’ve been here ever since,” recalls Wyman, who’s got three great reasons to encamp locally today and none of them involve dodging taxes.
First of all, despite perfectly lovely digs in both Chelsea and Suffolk back home in the U.

"When you reach the top, that's when the climb begins," is one of Michael Caine's most memorable quotes. But the 80-year-old actor hasn't been alone in his ascent -- he has had his wife, Shakira Caine, by his side since they were married in 1973.
Michael Caine and his wife recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. Caine credits his decades-long marriage as one of the things that keeps him feeling young. As stunning as Shakira is at 66, "you should have seen her when she was 24," Caine told the Mirror.
A photo posted on Reddit of Caine and his wife in 1973 today got us wondering just what the Caines looked like in their younger years; we found some great images, like the one below.

Sir Michael Caine keeps the romance alive in his 39-year marriage by jetting off on "little honeymoons" with his wife.
The British screen legend married actress and model Shakira Baksh in 1973, and the couple is parents to a daughter, Natasha.
Caine, 78, keeps the spark in their relationship by whisking his partner off to Paris in France whenever possible, and they recite lines from classic 1942 movie Casablanca.
He tells Britain's Sunday Mirror, "Oh we're so romantic. We go off on little honeymoons. Every now and again we go off to a lovely hotel called the George V in Paris and have a weekend honeymoon away from everybody.
"Paris is our city. We always do the quote from Casablanca... Humphrey Bogart to Ingrid Bergman, she was saying goodbye and he says, 'We'll always have Paris.' And that's us two."
The star also reveals he has an interesting history with the French capital, adding: "I know the city so well. I went there when I was very young and broke. I wound up selling frites on the streets on a hotdog stand.
"I made very good frites actually. And then I went back wealthier and wealthier and was able to stay in nicer and nicer places and to eat at all the great restaurants."...

Sir Michael Caine and his wife Shakira will be the only two guests at director Michael Winner's wedding later this month.
The Death Wish moviemaker is to marry his longterm partner Geraldine Lynton-Edwards at Chelsea Old Town Hall in London at the age of 75.
But he is keeping the nuptials a low-key affair, according to his pal Sir Roger Moore, by only inviting two guests to witness the vows.
Former Bond star Moore reveals he has not been invited to the ceremony, writing on his website, "Winner is only having two guests at his wedding on the 19th. Michael and Shakira Caine, his witnesses. He's keeping it intimate!"...

Michael Caine mistakenly thanked France for the wrong award. The British actor became a Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters in Paris on Thursday, January 6 but in his acceptance speech, thanked officials for giving him the Legion of Honor, France's highest civilian award.
As he received the medal from French culture minister Frederic Mitterand, Michael said, "I'd always thought you had to have a French wife to get the Legion d'Honneur, but it turns out you don't."
However, the 77-year-old actor, who is married to Indian actress-and-model Shakira Caine, quickly recovered his composure to give a heartfelt thanks to the country for bestowing him with the highest cultural award the country has to offer.
He said, "I've always loved this country, the food, the people. I didn't know whether the French loved me and thought maybe it was a one-way affair. But now I have this award, I know they love me.

Acting legend Sir Michael Caine has been made a Commander of Arts and Letters in France after receiving the country's highest cultural honour on Thursday.
The Italian Job star, 77, was awarded the medal by Culture Minister Frederic Mitterrand, who paid tribute to his lengthy movie career and highlighted his most iconic roles from Alfie to the Batman franchise.
Caine's wife, Shakira Baksh, looked on with pride as Caine was hailed a "true gentleman" and "a giant" of the acting profession, who embodied "the humour, magic and the warmth of the cinema".
Accepting the honour in French, the actor, born Maurice Micklewhite, said, "I've always loved this country, the food, the people. (Until now) I didn't know whether the French loved me and thought maybe it was a one-way affair. But now I have this award, I know (they do)."...

The veteran actor's role as a dying man in his new film proved too upsetting and shocking for his family, reports Vanessa Thorpe
The cockney voice is unmistakable, but the words are faltering and uncertain. This is Michael Caine as audiences have never seen him - and as his wife hopes never to see him again.
The actor's role in the new British film Is Anybody There? shows his character, a retired magician, crumbling into the final stages of a long life. As a result Shakira Caine, his wife of 36 years, found the film so unsettling that she has banned their pregnant daughter, Natasha, from seeing it.

Michael Caine has never found himself attracted to any of his female co-stars - because he considers his wife more stunning than any of them.
The Alfie star has worked with Hollywood beauties such as Sigourney Weaver, Demi Moore and Dame Helen Mirren since he began his career in the 1950s.
But the 75-year-old only has eyes for his wife of 36 years, former model Shakira.
He says, "I was always doing love scenes with very beautiful women. You can go on the set and there’ll be one of the most beautiful women in the world and the director will say, 'Take your clothes off and get into bed.'
"That could be a great temptation so I decided that I would never marry a woman who wasn't as beautiful as the women I was working with. And I married a woman who, in actual fact, is more beautiful than most women I have worked with, so all the temptation was at home, not at work. So I rush home to get some temptation."
And Caine can't imagine life without his 61-year-old spouse, insisting she completes him.
He adds, "She is the other half of me. Also, we’re still very much in love with each other. We always have been, we always will be."...
