Although recent years have witnessed fewer performances from Edward Norton, it is safe to say that fans do miss him. Norton has a reputation for being particularly intense on film sets, however, when he does, people are sure something great is going to come out on the other side. American History X was one such movie! His co-star in the movie, Edward Furlong, recently revealed what it was like working with such an actor.
Edward Norton as Bruce Banner in a still from The Incredible Hulk
Edward Norton’s Acting Process on the Set of American History X
Edward Norton‘s reputation for maintaining a no-nonsense attitude on set is well-known, yet it’s fascinating how his seriousness seamlessly aligned with the demands of American History X. The film required a gritty and intense portrayal, which Norton undoubtedly delivered flawlessly.

After years of being stuck in development hell, "The Crow" remake is finally coming to theaters this summer. It stars Bill Skarsgard ("It") as Eric Draven, the role made famous by the late Brandon Lee in director Alex Proyas' 1994 comic book film of the same name. The reaction to the recently released trailer and images has been mixed, to put it mildly. Now, Proyas himself has weighed in, and the forthcoming remake does not sit well with him.
Proyas took to Facebook recently to share some of his thoughts on this new version of "The Crow," which was directed by Rupert Sanders ("Snow White and the Huntsman"). Proyas, for his part, didn't have anything nice to say, as he even linked to an article from Comic Book Resources titled "The Crow Remake Trailer Gets Staggering Amount of Dislikes on YouTube." While Proyas prefaced his commentary by saying that he does...

Welcome to the digital den of dread, where horror meets headsets in a mind-melting mashup! In the realm of horror movies set in virtual reality, the bizarre becomes the baseline, and the uncanny is commonplace. Imagine strapping on a VR headset, only to find yourself in a world where every turn brings a new terror, and every pixel could be your doom. That’s the twisted reality of VR horror films, a genre that blends the eerie with the electronic in ways you’ve got to see to disbelieve.
From the cybernetic showdowns of Virtuosity to the cerebral labyrinths of eXistenZ, these films are not just about scares; they’re about making you second-guess every digital decision you’ve ever made. Picture this: one minute, you’re a sofa-bound spectator; the next, you’re lost in a labyrinthine VR game fighting for your virtual life, and maybe your real one too.

If it feels like a new take on The Crow has been in development for 15 years, that's perhaps because a new take on The Crow has been in development for, well, 15 years at least. Yet after a revolving door of directors, writers and potential leads, it's finally headed our way this year, with Bill Skarsgård playing the tragic Eric Draven and Rupert Sanders directing. Check out the first images from the new adaptation of James O'Barr's graphic novel above and below.
O'Barr's original story focuses on Eric, a young man who, along with his fiancee Shelly, is brutally assaulted and slaughtered by a gang when their car breaks down. Eric is resurrected by a supernatural crow to stalk and seek vengeance against those responsible for the crime. Alex Proyas' 1994 film retooled the story around rock musician Eric Draven, who is murdered along with his fiancee Shelly on Devil's Night...

Aubrey Plaza will lead the cast of ‘Feel-Bad’ romance Liarmouth, which marks John Waters’ first directorial outing in two decades.
John Waters hasn’t made a film in 20 years, but he’s set to bring his demented brand of comedy back to the silver screen, along with a leading actor who should prove equal to his ambitions.
Waters’ last film was 2004’s A Dirty Shame which starred Tracy Ullman, Johnny Knoxville and Chris Isaak. That was his comedy about sex addiction. In the 1990s alone, Waters also gave us Pecker, which featured Edward Furlong taking pictures of perverts, and Serial Mom, the 1994 black comedy featuring the mighty Kathleen Turner as a mother who doubles as a serial killer.
Waters’ style is certainly unique and the idea of a new film from him after all this time is a welcome one. What’s more, he’s found a leading actor to...

Kevin Spacey, the two-time Oscar winner who has largely avoided the public eye since his career imploded in the early days of the #MeToo era, is making moves to venture back into the public space.
The actor has booked his first comic book convention appearance, set for Feb. 16-18 at Mad Monster, the con held in Concord, North Carolina. Organizers announced Wednesday that he will be among the guests signing autographs and posing for photos. He is also in business with the company Everest Autographs, which is arranging for autograph purchases for those not attending the event in person.
Spacey won Oscars for The Usual Suspects (1995), the cult crime drama that resonates with corners of the comic con crowd, and for American Beauty (1999). He played Lex Luthor in Superman Returns (2006) and helped power Netflix’s push into prestige programming with House of Cards. His few public-facing moves in recent years...

This post contains spoilers for episode one of "Reacher" season 2.
After a long wait, Alan Ritchson's Reacher is finally back for more punching-bad-guys-really-hard in the face action. This time, there's one particular bad guy who is surely heading for one of the most epic "Reacher" beatings yet.
Prior to the second season's debut, it was announced that Robert Patrick had replaced Rory Cochrane in the role of Shane Langston, a former NYPD detective who now heads up security for a private defense contractor. While Langston doesn't appear in "Bad Luck and Trouble," the book on which "Reacher" season 2 is based, he seems to be a version of the character Allen Lamaison, an ex-LAPD officer who, in the novel, became the director of the defense contractor New Age. Either way, it's obvious from the inaugural episode of season 2 that Langston has something to do with the insidious plot to...

Staci Wolfe is retiring. She’s the founder/CEO of Polaris PR, the agency that reps such talent as Steve Buscemi, Tim Roth, filmmakers Allen & Albert Hughes, Gary Sinise, David Copperfield, Matt Dillon, Eric Bana, Aaron Eckhart, Donal Logue, and Gordon Ramsay. Her longtime associate Alana Kass will take the helm of the agency.
Kass joined Polaris in 2011 after working for several years with the late awards consultant Ronni Chasen, and she has been instrumental in the campaigns of all of the company’s clients as well as her own roster including Jonathan Van Ness.
While the twin strikes, social media toxicity and polarized world probably has plenty of Hollywood vets counting the days until that gold watch, Wolfe’s story is different. She’s only 56, and has long been a preeminent publicist. But she has been at it for 34 years and hung on to a vow she made to herself,...

What’s your favorite movie sequel of all time? For some of us, it’s the Godfather Part II, for others it’s The Empire Strikes Back, or maybe you’re into Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2. In any case, one of the greatest sequels of all time has to be Terminator 2: Judgement Day. T2 is James Cameron’s 1991 masterpiece that follows up the original 80’s blockbuster. The movie was originally meant to be the end of the road for the Terminator franchise and as such, the ending of the movie serves as a definitive ending to the iconic story. The final confrontation involves the T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) taking on the T-1000 (Robert Patrick) who has been hunting the Conner family in order to terminate them once and for all.
In the scene, the T-1000 is subdued by way of a grenade launcher and subsequently dropped into a vat of molten steel.

It’s not even October, but Massachusetts is already being spoiled with horror events. A mere week after Silver Scream Con took place in Danvers, Terror Con slashed into the Royal Plaza Trade Center in Marlborough on September 15-17.
Freddy Krueger himself, Robert Englund, had the longest lines throughout the weekend. He was joined by several other A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise alumni: Part 1’s Heather Langenkamp, Amanda Wyss, and Ronee Blakeley; Part 2’s Mark Patton and Kim Myers; Part 4’s Lisa Wilcox and Nicholas Mele; Part 5’s Erika Anderson, Whit Hertford, and Beatrice Boepple; and Freddy vs. Jason‘s Monica Keena.
Other big draws included Lance Henriksen (Aliens), Edward Furlong (Terminator 2), pro wrestling legend Mick Foley, The Walking Dead‘s Seth Gilliam, Ross Marquand, Chandler Riggs, Emily Kinney, and Katelyn Nacon, Danielle Harris (Halloween), Sherilyn Fenn (Twin Peaks), John Kassir (Tales from the Crypt), and a Fright Night reunion with Chris Sarandon,...

Brainscan is one of those movies you would stumble on as a ’90s kid watching HBO, Cinemax or whatever other programming you weren’t supposed to be watching after your parents went to bed. The kind that you could tell right away was something darker than society would deem appropriate for someone of your age. The kind you knew would keep you up that night.
All of which made it impossible to turn off, of course.
But there’s a certain quality to Brainscan that felt still even more under the surface sinister than the other horror flicks I was used to at the time. This might sound silly considering the plot is about a misfit teenager who plays the hottest new horror video game advertised in Fangoria and ends up dealing with an almost cartoonish, mohawked, coulda been a guitar tech for Twisted Sister, Little Monsters type villain who...

I believe Jeff Bridges is one of the most charming actors of the last 50 years, and I'm not alone. Pauline Kael went one step further by calling Jeff, in an oft-quoted line, "[maybe] the most natural and least self-conscious screen actor who ever lived." I don't know if Kael harbored any sort of attraction toward Bridges, but I can't claim that my appreciation of him is entirely platonic.
He's not only a fine figure of a leading man (with an even finer head of hair), but he also possesses an easy charisma that has bolstered his screen presence from "The Last Picture Show" in 1971 all the way to "The Old Man," his recent Hulu show. If Bridges has ever given a bad performance, please enlighten me because I have yet to find it among his many credits. Instead of any further hagiography, here is a breakdown of Jeff Bridges' best movies.

In a recent The Hollywood Reporter profile, Arnold Schwarzenegger confirmed he's parting ways with the "Terminator" franchise. And talking about the various sequels that have been churned out since "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines," he said the recent "Terminator: Dark Fate," in his words, "didn't close the deal as far as [he's] concerned," adding, "We knew that ahead of time because they were just not well-written."
So, the Terminator himself knew going in that these sequels weren't up to par. And even with James Cameron, the man who created the series and directed the first two movies, onboard as a producer, "Dark Fate" couldn't successfully raise the hobbling endoskeleton of this franchise from the flames of mediocrity.
If the ongoing WGA strike isn't enough of a signal that the industry isn't holding its writers in high enough regard, then just take a look at the landscape of film and TV.

It wasn’t long ago that science fiction was deemed a niche interest, the ultimate form of nerdery. Yet fast forward to now, and it’s hard not to be astounded by how far we’ve come with geek culture permeating entertainment in significant ways. Science fiction has become so popular that you could even argue it’s the prevailing genre across pop culture—all thanks to its passionate fanbase.

This can be seen by the diversity of movies represented on the list of the greatest sci-fi films ever made.
The following ten highest-rated sci-fi movies are by no means an exhaustive list.

We see recasts pretty regularly on the big screen. For some franchises like Friday the 13th and Halloween, it’s almost a tradition. It’s less common in a non-genre arena. However, other major films have seen some of their important characters get recast for various reasons. Here are a few of them:
Back to the Future: George McFly and Jennifer
Two roles were recast in Back to the Future: Part II. The first recast was that of Jennifer who in the first film is played by Claudia Wells and then in the sequel is played by Elizabeth Shue. Not only did Shue replace Wells in the sequel, but all the flashback scenes to the first film were re-shot with her to make it make sense. The recast here was due to Claudia Wells taking a break from acting to go take care of her mother who had been diagnosed with cancer.

She last graced the screens in 2002's "Manna from Heaven" as Detective Dubrinski. Now, a little over 20 years later, renowned scream queen Shelley Duvall has re-entered the chat in Scott Goldberg's "The Forest Hills," set to release this month. This feature film is a take on Goldberg's 2007 short film of the same name, but that appears to be the only similarity as of right now. The 2007 short, alternately titled "Danielle's Revenge," takes place in Kentucky and is centered around two horror website admins in search of an urban legend.

1992's "Encino Man" is, as the trailer puts it, about "a caveman who just stepped into the 20th Century." Luckily for him, two slackers from Encino, California are the ones to guide the Cro-Magnon dude through the ways of teenage living. It's always fun to imagine the pitch meeting for these oddball movies, but I can't imagine how "Encino Man" was sold to Disney. The director, Les Mayfield, hadn't made a feature film before, there were no major stars onboard, the plot sounded like something no one asked for, and if you're going to try to capitalize on the popularity of '90s California surfer/stoner culture, Encino seems like one of the least recognizably Californian locales you could choose. This is probably why every other country in which it was released renamed it "California Man."

As part of that day, they conducted an interview with Duvall, and the video of that interview can be seen at the bottom of this article. It’s a very nice, sweet interview, as the Kolences express a lot of love for Duvall’s work as they discuss projects like Popeye, Faerie Tale Theatre, and of course, The Shining.

Scott Goldberg‘s The Forest Hills will bring together Edward Furlong (Terminator 2), Dee Wallace (The Howling), and Shelley Duvall (The Shining), and Bloody Disgusting has learned that Jamie Marsh (The Forsaken, Killer App, X-Files, Best Laid Plans) has joined the cast as well. Marsh, you may recall, starred alongside Furlong in the 1994 horror movie Brainscan!
Almost 30 years later, Edward Furlong and Jamie Marsh just reunited on the set of The Forest Hills, and Bloody Disgusting has been provided with exclusive on-set interview footage.
“We’re both frankly shocked that Brainscan has held up this well,” Marsh admits. Furlong adds, “It was crazy. It didn’t do well at all… it bombed. And it’s just weird how some movies, they just have legs on ’em.” You can watch the video interview with Furlong and Marsh below.

By 1991, James Cameron was well on his way to becoming one of Hollywood's best filmmakers. With the first "Terminator," "Aliens," and "The Abyss" already under his belt, the director was ready to deliver what would be considered one of his best movies (if not the best) with "Terminator 2: Judgement Day," firmly cementing his legendary status.
In the process of making the movie, Cameron went through a production budget that grew from 80 million to around the 100 million mark, continuing his trend of pushing budgets beyond their limits. Thankfully, "Terminator 2" was a big hit, bringing in 515 million at the global box office and placating the suits at Carolco who had watched Cameron burn through their initial budget, and then some, making the movie.
Much of its success was clearly down to Cameron's filmmaking prowess. But there's no doubt Arnold Schwarzenegger in the starring role was one of the biggest drivers of ticket sales.

“You’re a fucking murderer, Rico!”
That is the first line of dialogue fans of Shelley Duvall can hear her speak after a 20-year absence from the screen, in a new trailer for The Forest Hills, which The Hollywood Reporter is debuting exclusively.
The actress, 73, who captivated audiences with idiosyncratic characters like Millie Lammoreaux from 1977’s Three Women and Wendy Torrance in 1980’s The Shining, has returned to acting with a surprise cameo in the indie horror film, written and directed by Scott Goldberg.
The part is Duvall’s first since 2002’s Like Manna From Heaven.
Forest Hills also features Dee Wallace, who played Elliott’s mother in 1982’s E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, and Edward Furlong, who shot to fame playing John Connor in 1991’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
In the trailer, Rico (Chico Mendez) is a tormented man wandering the forests of the Catskills Mountains.

Directed by Mary Lambert from a screenplay by Stephen King himself, the 1989 film Pet Sematary is widely considered to be one of the best King adaptations ever made. The 1992 sequel, which was directed by Lambert from a screenplay by Richard Outten, is much less popular… and that’s why we’re looking at Pet Sematary II (watch it Here) in today’s episode of the video series The Black Sheep! To find out why we think Pet Sematary II deserves more love, check out the video embedded above.
Pet Sematary II has the following synopsis:
When his mother Renee dies, young Jeff Matthews moves back to his hometown with his father, Chase. Jeff grows friendly with Drew Gilbert at school, who tells him about the Indian burial grounds that bring people and animals back to life, which led to the deaths of the Creed family who used to live in town.

James Cameron's 1991 ultra-blockbuster "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" bears some of the usual logical inconsistencies that will come baked into any time travel story, but its premise is easy enough to wrap one's head around. In the future, human beings will invent artificial intelligence in the form of a computer system called Skynet. Resenting humanity, Skynet will immediately wage war on humanity, starting with the explosion of a nuclear bomb on August 29, 1997. By 2029, Earth will be a machine-driven wasteland with the planet's scant human survivors waging a ground war with an army of metallic robot skeleton warriors called Terminators.
In the 1984 film "The Terminator," Skynet, losing the war, manages to send one of its Terminators (Arnold Schwarzenegger) back in time in order to murder Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) who is destined to give birth to a boy named John who will grow up to lead the human resistance. Sarah will...

This one would not be penned by Stephen King, but Little Nemo and Lionheart scribe Richard Outten, who strayed far, far away from the path of King’s grisly 1983 novel.
Starring Edward Furlong, Anthony Edwards, and Clancy Brown, Pet Sematary Two received mixed to negative reviews upon its arrival in August 1992. Since then, however, the sequel has amassed a cult following, namely from horror hounds who praise Clancy’s out-of-control turn and Lambert’s stylish touch that carries much of the film.

Is "American History X" empty provocation? Is it apologia for white supremacist gang culture? Is it a profoundly sad document of the tensions dominating '90s Los Angeles? The movie continues to be shocking and troubling as the years pass, from its shootout opening to its brutal, contradictory ending. Tony Kaye's 1998 film (which he would attempt to disown in very public confrontations with New Line Cinema) deals directly with racism and the environment that powers it. Focusing on prejudice from the perspective of racists in the crucible of gang violence was an inspired choice.
The movie's mood is set up by its opening titles, with Anne Dudley's score (sounding like doom; she used strings and a boy's choir to emphasize the neo-Nazis) over grainy, black-and-white images of Venice Beach. There's a suggestion of faded majesty, which point-of-view character Danny Vinyard (Edward Furlong) alludes to in voiceover, claiming "this...

"American History X" is a hard-hitting story about intergenerational racism. Edward Norton stars as Derek Vinyard, a reformed skinhead who tries to rescue his younger brother Danny, played by a pensive Edward Furlong, from the clutches of the neo-Nazi movement. "American History X" was critically hailed and Norton received an Oscar nomination for Best Actor for his formidable performance. In his essay for The Guardian, "American History X" director Tony Kaye explains why he cast Norton in the role, and why the actor ended up working more behind the scenes.

A new month brings new titles to HBO Max’s ever-changing (and formidable) roster of films. While the streaming service is parting with some notable movies in May — such as “Pride & Prejudice,” leaving May 27, and “Speed,” leaving at the end of the month — it’s more than making up for the loss with critically acclaimed additions, ranging from enduring indie fares to franchise-spanning blockbusters.
Below, TheWrap highlights seven films spanning a wide variety of genres, at least one of which is sure to resonate or encourage you to go out of your cinematic comfort zone.

Stephen Chbosky’s painfully accurate teen indie spawned a plethora of films dedicated to exploring high school angst and mental health, but it arguably did it best, capturing the 2010s zeitgeist with excruciating precision and dominating Tumblr discourse for years to come.
