MORARTE. THE TALE OF AN ENCOUNTER
MORARTE is the mix of 2 words: MORANTE&ART. "Morante de la Puebla" is considered one of the top notch Matadors in the world. And there's nothing he respects more than the bull he is going to contend with. In fact, he -and the audience- can only hear what the bull has to say about his final destiny at the Arena.
MORARTE is the story of an encounter. The encounter of a bull with a bullfighter. A bull in free range on the fields, where we are occasional witnesses of his deepest thoughts and everyday life. At the same time, in vital synchrony, the well-known bullfighter Morante de la Puebla gets ready for this encounter in his farm house in Cádiz, not far from the bull but far from social life. Two beings whose fate will meet in one city: Barcelona; one Arena: La Monumental; and one time: the last afternoon before the bullfighting ban. A "Matador" and a Bull. Two twin souls and a duel.
“Morarte” is a poetic journey in search for the meaning of bullfighting, and consequently the visual lenguaje used in this film will help this idea through aesthetic images and a suggestive cinematography full of textures. Through symbols and inner thoughts the audience discovers the essence of bullfighting aside from any kind of political or personal believes. They will find the tools to understand -or reject- its universal meaning and thus the reasons for its longevity through time. The values around bullfighting are still alive nowadays, always related to honor and personal growth. This “art” is explained through Morante de la Puebla, who revisits all these sensations with his poetic and peculiar approach to bullfighting.
