A Star Is Born (2018)
Charm less
I really enjoyed the original "A star is born" with Judy Garland, a charming piece of cinema. I also enjoyed the remake with Barbra Striesand which is a fabulous time capsule of the late 70's. So I eagerly looked forward to this movie, firstly Lady Ga Ga has no acting abilities, she just has this stunned mullet look on her face the whole movie. Bradley Cooper over acted, his over painful performance was tedious. One thing happened in the movie that really put me off, In the beginning they discussed how her nose was to big to be famous. She ran her finger down her profile to show how much it stuck out. For the rest of the movie all I could see was her big nose, I never realised how big it was, very distracting. To sum up this movie is soulless and sterile. Go watch the original for a fun time.
A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001)
One inconsistant problem
I really enjoy this movie, but there is one small part that is inconsistent with the rest of the movie. There are fabulous futuristic machines dotted throughout the movie until we get to the Moon Blimp and the Dirt Bikes rounding up stray robots. I don't know if its trying to portray a poorer socio economic community trying to make a living , but I thought the moon blimp should have been a huge hover machine that glowed like the moon and the motor bikes should have been hover bikes with that cool hover sound whining away. I feel a golden opportunity was missed here.
Patti Cake$ (2017)
Sad
Is this what youth has come too, is there no hope at all. No wonder they are committing suicide, this movie made me depressed.
Dunkirk (2017)
Editing
This could have been a great movie, but omg the editing is terrible. It chops it changes it all gets lost in soup of over editing. I had trouble following each character , especially Tom Hardy. This editing must have been intentional cause my cat could have done a better job. Why would Christopher Nolan destroy a half decent movie like this? Way too much time was spent on the first guy rescued that didn't want to go back and him killing the young boy, it added nothing to the story. Other than that the movie is visually stunning.
The Shape of Water (2017)
How did this win Best Picture
Where do I start, a very unlikeable lead actress, just talk for ffs. The bad guy was so over the top nasty it wasn't good. The monster was boring, they deserved each other cause they were so boring. I couldn't find anything enjoyable about this movie.
Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
A mixed bag.
Good action scenes, probably some of the best I have ever seen. A lot of time was spent on the Guardians of the Galaxy. A lot of the dialogue is about " were better superhero's than you " which become a bit repetitive. There are different groups of superheros and some of the match ups didn't fit well. Scarlet johanssen looks older. The hulk has a problem that runs through the whole movie and is never resolved. I liked the twist at the end. Thanos in parts stops being bad and it upset the flow of the movie, just be pure evil for gods sake. Also the word infinity stones is used way to much. At one point I was expecting Kevin Bacon to pop out but it didn't happen. I wish we could have seen more of the collector and his flambouyent character. Get ready for a sequal for sure.
