Lovecraft Country (2020)
Started great then became a mess
I really liked the first episode, it was a great pilot. Very refreshing and I would recommend everyone to watch it. I don't know what happened after, but the show quickly after the first one because very boring and unoriginal. I think they might went too far with the racism as well. Not because of the white people, but because it makes the whole story and character actions very predictable and cliche. A part from the first one, this show was a letdown.
See (2019)
Potential wasted
It's really hard to watch how such a promising show can be ruined by a dumb and unbelievable story.
Don't get me wrong, this show does a lot right. Beautiful world, outstanding actors, costumes, but all that is ruined by the story that doesn't make any sense.
Someone already mentioned few valid points this show will probably never be able to answer, like how they build? Why they wear clothes and jewelry? How they move through deep forest without sight so fast? during the fight how they differentiate ally from foe?
Even if you have outstanding senses, without being able to see there isn't much you can do, especially move and fight in a really thick forest. Just take for an example any of the blind animal species.
A lot better idea, which could save this show, would be partial blindness instead of a total one.
It just looks stupid and it's really insulting people's intelligence.
Watchmen (2019)
Not so good
I won't pretend that I know everything there is about Watchmen universe, but I've watched the movie and graphic novel.
This show does borrow some key elements from the existing universe, but not as much as it should.
After watching the first episode I feel like nothing of importance happened and like I was watching a 15 minute episode of something. Pilot episode should be the most impactful to keep audiences attention and interest.
Original movie was really gritty and dark, this one I don't know.. I'm still confused.
Although I liked the score in the episode, tone, plot and acting could've been better. It feels like it's a show almost not at all connected to the Watchmen universe.
I did recognize political ideologies, but I don't think they were that impactful to the overall plot. I've seen worse.
All in all, I would definitely watch few more episodes before giving it a permanent pass. Still, after this one I don't expect a big improvement.
