Civil War (2024)
Cash grab
So, Garland want us to think that the press are angels sent here to tell the truth. When most people today know that the press and mainstream media are the biggest war mongers of all.
So they run with that lie, but for some reason, they totally forget about how news get spread nowadays. So the "brave" photographers run around with an old film camera taking pictures. No modern tech, no alternative media, no nothing.
And there's no background or explanation of the conflict.
And why do the "brave" journalists have to travel by car over the whole country to get an inteview with the president? Haven't they heard about e-meetings?
All in all a movie full of discusting violence, just for the reason of making money of showing violence. That's it folks.
The Fall Guy (2024)
No logic, no fun
Well... this was a dissappointment. The story - if you can call it that - is all over the place, with huge gaps in the small amount of logic. The charachters are card board cut outs of real people.
And Blund and Gosling? No, sorry, didn't work. The chemistry between them is nowher to be found, and the platonic "love" between them is just silly and uniteresting.
So... what do we got left then? Not much to be honest. They just wrote a couple of action scenes and stacked them on each other, and thougt that would be exciting. It's not.
It seems just like the people writing, and making this movie just didn't care about the story, the characters or the viewer. They just wanted to make a movie that would make a lot of money for them.
My advice is that if you want to see a movie about a stunt man: Find "Hooper" or "The Stuntman" instead. Both this movies have soul, great characters, and a soul. And... an entertaining story to tell.
Panic: The Untold Story of the 2008 Financial Crisis (2018)
Fluff piece
To give billions to the rich is in this doc a good thing.
The film make heroes of everybody involved, never ask any hard questions, or even easy questions. They just let everybody tell us how good they are and how they saved the world. The american tax payer, who financed it all - are not even given a voice.
And of course they even make Obama out to be the supestar too, as always.
This is NOT how a documentary should be done. Avoid.
Trust (2018)
Great! Much better than the movie.
This series started with amazing camera work, and continued very strong the whole first episode. It's interesting to compare it to the movie - and the series are better in every way.
Better music, better acting, better directing, better everything.
This proves once again that cable and pay TV have surpassed the movies when it
comes to storytelling.
It's also interesting to see how fluid and entertaining Danny Boyle tells the story compared to RidleyScotts boring directing and telling of the story in the movie.
This series is really promising, and after one episode it has already set the sights very high. Looking forward to the rest.
