Wayne (2019)
You're probably demented too!
Like Serial Mom, this had me questioning why I was laughing while watching it. I had no idea Brockton, Massachusetts was scarier than Detroit or $hotcago but life is a perpetual learning process.
You & I (2014)
Peter Pan Syndrome prevails
A good reminder of the ramifications of acting like a child when an adult and "open relationships".
All We Had (2016)
Kinda predictable
I just KNEW she'd eventually wind up with that handsome, too polite gentleman that threw up on her in the diner near the beginning of the movie. I could just feel it. The ending just left you guessing whether this poor nice guy that had some obvious very bad breaks was able to change her or did she mess him up further? My guess is the latter. They definitely left you open for a Part II.
This woman and her daughter were obviously heading down skid row BEFORE the 2008 financial meltdown. And that realtor (that they made into the worst stereotype from hell imaginable) did not "make" her sign that contract to purchase that home. She knew, as well as I, that she couldn't afford it AT ALL on a diner waitress wage, especially with the repairs and maintenance it obviously needed. At least she got off with him quite a few times though because that's what meant the most to her). I sold real estate for years and talked people OUT of buying houses for various reasons, one being my sister who fell in love with a hooptie of a house with the Better Homes & Gardens magazine and fresh flowers in a vase near the entrance. "Give them a full price offer!" my Mother shouted to her....during the beginning of the housing bubble I advised them. I suggested offering 1/2 the asking price and start from there. 16 years later, that house is worth 1/2 of what she paid for it. Women will continue to be stupid, blame men for all of their woes and take no personal responsibility until hell freezes over.
If this movie were made in 1963, I'd be all in..... but I'm not buying any if it. It was free on Peacock or sumpthin' like that.
I just hope that tramp didn't mess up that poor naive gentleman's life further.
Parks and Recreation (2009)
My first job was at Parks & Recreation Dept.
Yup, at 16, my first job back in the 80s was at the actual Recreation Center under the Parks & Recreation Dept. offices in the same facility. It was first class for a middle class neighborhood. After moving on, I just assumed every city has a Recreation Center like that but probably even better. Knope (no pun intended), they don't. Some don't have ANY recreation facility at all.
This show is so realistic and spot on. Hilarious too. Leslie Knopes is the spitting image of Kim, the Director of our facility. She had exact same "go getter" personality, married and divorced 5 times last I checked, and disappeared into the Autumn Mist by the age of 45. She was Ms. Popularity around town from her high school-college-Parks & Recreation days but nobody has heard from her or even mentions her 40+ years later although she still lives in the same town (with the 5th surname).
The aloof, intern chick is definitely a bonus in the show.
Mom and Dad (2017)
?
Dafuq did I just (try) to watch?! I love dark comedy and all, and we know Nicky is a lil bit wierd but this flick just takes it all to another unacceptable level. He's officially lost it.
Eloise (2016)
It wasn't THAT bad.
The movie wasn't THAT bad. The only reason I watched it is because I grew up not far from there and didn't realize this was shot on site. I had never been in there but as a kid was threatened to be thrown in there 50 times (C'mon every town has one of these places that kids know of like "If you don't straighten up we're going to have you thrown in Shady Pines". Well for us it was Eloise).
The most horrifying thing about this movie was how they got that black dude to play that 1970s J.J. stereotype then have him stealing the drugs and shooting at everything. Having him nearly drown was the icing on the cake as you know black people are afraid of water too (eyeroll).
TRIVIA: Jackie Wilson is buried in a cemetery across the road from this place. It was paupers grave for years until they raised enough money for a proper monument.
