The Ark (2023)
Bad writing leads to bad shows
I really wanted to like this show. But UGH, great premise was wasted! It's as if no one understood the seriousness of their situation. Once a young female scientist started going on about herself in an annoying chipper voice in their dining room in the first episode, I bailed.
New shows, especially sci-fi, need to grab you by the throat and drag you into their world and story. Think of Lost, Battlestar Galactica and more recently, The Expanse. Writing, people!
A veteran actor or two, see shows above, would have helped greatly too. Maybe that's why the senior leadership was all killed off to not have any? Avoid this!
Hostile Territory (2022)
Very solid Western!
This was a surprisingly good Western. The acting was solid for the most part. On what looked to be a modest budget, the movie delivered a good storyline, solid action sequences and great cinematography. Don't understand some of the negative reviews. Not everything can be a CGI extravaganza interlaced with one-liners.
Stowaway (2021)
Very good story, makes you think!
In an era of non-stop action movies with funny lines, this was a very welcomed change. Enjoyed the slower pacing as it gives a sense of the routine the astronauts face on a long eight month voyage, and allow the viewers to ponder the dilemma if it was them. And Toni Collette is in it!
Seinfeld (1989)
A show for the ages!
Truly the funniest show ever! Still laugh as hard after almost 25 years since its epic run and many repeats. So glad the next gens are appreciating it too.
Jûsan-nin no shikaku (2010)
An incredible find!
I only became aware of the film because of a Watchmojo recommendation. I am so glad I was able to find it. A true great movie from the acting to the action sequences and production. And terrific story line. I highly recommend it to anyone!
Another Life (2019)
Not as bad as expected
Yes I agree, it could have been a lot better. I expected the worst after all the negative reviews. Got better as it moved on and as annoying millennial crew members started dropping off especially that loud mouth annoying one that got turned to goo. Glad I stuck it out.
Roma (2018)
Not a great film
I just don't get why this movie is hailed as such a great film. Technically yes, but it comes off as an art house film with hidden meanings. There really was no connection to the characters. What is the re-watch factor for this film as the true great ones? Zero for me. Very disappointed.
