Road House (2024)
Watchable trash, downgrade on original in almost every way.
Not gonna say I was bored, but it was one of the worst movies ive seen in a while, every character had less character development and was less interesting than the original, Jake, Connor, and the owner of the roadhouse were all trash, the only remotley interesting characters were the father and daughter book store owners, and the funny dude who broke his arm early, and thats saying a lot as they got next to no time on screen. I can't work out if the director just winged it, the editing was just thrown together or if Jake who is a good actor just focussed on his physical preparation and not his character development but overall it was not an upgrade on the original in anyway, to be honest even the fighting wasn't as cool, again saying a lot as when you rewatch the original it looks so corny but still works.
Heels (2021)
Rubbish
Started strong and gets worse as it goes, and thats just the first episode, tries to be all deep but its not.
Without Remorse (2021)
Utter garbage
Cannot recall one part of this movie where I could at least say "it could have been good if they......", nothing, its nonsense, not engaging, worst script ever, poorly directed, Michael B J also added nothing, like he just winged the whole movie, as did Jamie Bell who just didnt suit the role at all major casting error.
Balboa Blvd (2019)
Below average
Main actor has charisma and enough athletism and basketball skill to potentially make this a good movie, but the acting, editing and script are so bad that me and my son, who both play, watch ans are addicted to basketball spent the entire movie glancing at each other with a look of why are we putting ourselves through this self inflicted pain, but just had to keep watching hoping some good basketball scenes would happen... but no just stupid multiple angle same shot 1 on 1 with stupid music in the background, the supposed deep story behind this works on zero levels
After Life (2019)
Absolutely loved it
Ricky has such a talent for nailing human emotion, mixed with comedy and great character development accross a cast even when certain members dont get much screen time, fantastic series, wanted it to go longer
Triple Frontier (2019)
Starts ok, then looks like its going to be great, then isn't
The only spolier is that the movie gets so bad after looking like it could be good, i felt like some moron read "old man and the sea" and thought how do i take that classic, make it about a group of people and totally stuff it up, when it was over i just wanted to unwatch it
Iron Fist (2017)
Season 2 is worse than the first
The first seasons martial arts was so bad it was comical (excuse the pun), now it looks like the Immortal Iron Fist has done one month of training with no sparring... make matters worse even Coleen, who I liked in the first season now sucks due to poor writing, and Ward has become my favorite character because he at least is a good actor trying to make something out of this dogs breakfast of a show.
Mais Forte que o Mundo: A História de José Aldo (2016)
Messy movie that doesn't really know what it's wants to say
I like Jose a lot, well I did but if I didn't know who he was and watched this movie I would think he is a bit of a boring, shallow and unlike-able guy. The movie doesn't develop ANY character well, so you just don't care about them, Jose especially seems confused and he doesn't like this one guy who keeps reappearing throughout in his mind, like he is some massive bully who has really impacted his life so much, how? Why? Cause he invited him to work the day his father gets sacked? I just really didn't get it and only even watched till the end because I'm such a martial arts fanatic (oh and the martial arts isn't even that good so if you are expecting to be wowed ... you won't be)
Animal Kingdom (2016)
Animal Kingdom merged with Point Break = this poor remake
Honestly it had all the tools to be great, the actors were good, budget etc, but ruined this Aussie great by trying to make it cool, the original wasn't, it was gritty and made you hate the the mother and especially popes character, bunch of awful scumbags, the kid you felt sorry for, just an average guy, you guys go make him smart good looking blah blah, brothers are all point break cool dudes come on just make them real, excess all over the place, just lazy and it didn't feel real, and the story was full of holes
The series was too busy trying to show weak backstories to make us feel what? That these people were victims of circumstance? The movie you felt the animal Kingdom reference, strong on top, weak get carried so far, young one that can challenge for pack/pride once current alpha gone and a weak alternative takes their place. Watched the whole series and didn't hate it but it's average at best.
