The Room (2019)
Could've been great
The start of the movie is where it goes wrong in my opinion. They kinda rush through it, and that's why I didn't have any affinity with the story. Further on in the movie it gets better, the story and the whole metaphor gets more body. But for me (!) personally, they should've put more effort in the developing of the story at the beginning, so we could've had more connection with the whole story and the characters. Still entertaining to watch, and definitely worth a watch to make up your own opinion.
The Possession of Hannah Grace (2018)
Why
This movie is true horror, but not because of the genre. Except the main actress, everything was bad. It was so bad that it wasn't even entertaining or laughable, it was just cringe all over the place. Don't waste your time or money on this one, you'll thank me later.
The Choice (2016)
Awful movie (and this comes from a chick flick-lover)
I watch chick flicks very often and I almost never care about how mealy and predictable they are. It's easy to watch and dream away with these kind of movies. Just hoping your life could be like those movies for one second. But this one didn't had me dreaming away for one second, on the contrary, it made me feel irritated, bored and frustrated all at once.
To start with, it's not OK to make a whole movie about a love story that's just based on high-level cheating. It romanticizes the idea that cheating is acceptable. They make it seem like she didn't even felt bad about it. After that I didn't have any sympathy left for either of them.
And if that wasn't worse enough, the movie itself was just awful. Too predictable, even for a mainstream chick flick. People are not aging at all, characters are totally not developed (it doesn't go any further than "I act like an a**hole but i'm not") and there is just nothing sincere when they're acting, it all seems like a joke. Even though I like Teresa, but this movie just made her look awful.
Just don't waste your time, just don't. Don't let the 'Nicholas Sparks'- label fool you into thinking it'll be a good movie. It's no walk to remember, it's a movie to erase from your memory.
A Cure for Wellness (2016)
A must-watch!
I was really excited about this movie when the trailer came out, I could not wait to see it. But after reading multiple bad comments about the film, I got worried.
But I must say, nothing to worry about. The movie is kinda weird maybe, but if you watch the trailer you know what you're settling in for, I suppose.
The story develops itself kinda slow, but that didn't bother me cause I was intrigued by the story. The movie has good actors, a great setting and atmosphere.
It kinda reminded me of Shutter Island, I think because of the whole "mystery island with a weird cure-institution"-thing.
The BFG (2016)
Don't waste your time on this, please, just don't.
I am a huge fan of fantasy films for children. And .. Disney. I love Disney, I adore it. So I was really curious to saw this movie.
I didn't saw the trailer, but even without knowing much about this film, I expected more from it.
This was just a waste of my money and time.
I didn't like how the story developed, there was no explanation for anything, things just happened and it didn't made sense.
The actors didn't acted well and there were no heart-touching or funny moments, just one big boring story that made no sense to me. Also, the character Sophie is annoying and really unlikable.
I've never read the book, but I can only hope it's better than this film.. it was awful, for real. I just didn't like the story to begin with. I didn't liked how it started, developed or ended.
The Quiet Ones (2014)
The Quiet Ones a.k.a. The Boring Ones
After seeing the trailer, I had a lot of expectations from this movie. The trailer gave away the mood of the film, but without spoiling the whole movie, this gave me good hope.
(To admit, not only the trailer gave me this expectations, so did the fact that Sam Claflin played in it.)
Like all horror movies it took a while before there was any action, but even after like an hour our so, there still wasn't any kind of real horror, it didn't gave me any chills. It was just slow, and for me they didn't really went deep enough. It was just shallow.
The trailer and the story behind the movie intrigued me. I was curious how they would bring the real story come alive in the movie.
In my opinion they really didn't succeed in that. They didn't bring the story alive like they should've done. The story behind the movie is more intriguing than the movie itself.
I can't say where it went wrong, it just did in my opinion. They couldn't keep up the tension. The only remarkable thing about this movie is how they made the trailer so good, and the movie so bad, credits for that.
I wouldn't waste my time looking at the movie, if the story is interesting to you, I would recommend to just look on the internet for more background information.
Shutter Island (2010)
Perfect movie
I LOVED this movie.
I adore everything about this film. I am in love with the actors, I can't think of a better combination than Mark and Leonardo together. The acting was great, and so was the story and how it developed.
The story really intrigued me and I was curious how all the pieces would fall together. It's something that messes with your brain. You're trying to find aN explanation and to put the pieces together, but at the end, you're just wrong.
For the people who read books; I can say that looking to this movie is kinda like reading a book and wanting to finish it in one night. You just want to know what happens next, what is the explanation and how will it end?
Perfect, just perfect.
Oculus (2013)
Really loved this one
I like horror movies, even though i'm a little scared chicken. And I must say that I really liked this one.
It's creepy because you really get sucked into the story and it's a big mind-mess while you are watching.
The element of the mirror wasn't used too often, but it freaked me out every single time.
I really liked the story and the actors.
The story has several time-lines, and I loved how they worked it out, sometimes it might be confusing, but still, it was very well done!
A must-see if you ask me!
The VVitch: A New-England Folktale (2015)
Horror or just a bunch of hysterical Christians?
I have to admit that I don't have a lot of knowledge about films, so excuse me if my opinion isn't quite the same as other people WITH knowledge here. Although I think my opinion might be shared by other people, my friends also really disliked this movie..
I know that I maybe expect to much from a horror movie, but the least I expect are some scary moments where I sit on the edge of my seat. I'm aware that real horror isn't all about screaming from fear but this was just boring.
The actors were good and the atmosphere was alright, but that's actually all I can say. I didn't like how the story developed. The movie made totally no sense to me, and I still don't quite understand what I've been watching.. I don't get how it all fits together and the trailer is really misleading, all the moments where there did something 'happen' were in the trailer.
If you are a fan of 'the conjuring/sinister/woman in black/insidious,..'- kinda horror, don't watch this movie. It's boring, goes pretty slow, you're not going to see anything except for some blood for like 10 seconds.
