Colin from Accounts (2022)
Unparalleled Chemistry
Colin from Accounts is a superbly written and cleverly constructed masterpiece. Set in a typical Australian metro suburb, the audience is taken quickly into a quirky but entirely real whirlwind relationship which starts with a sudden accident involving a very cute dog. This odd threesome become an instant but odd family who, over the course of the 8 episodes, grows into an honest and believable relationship, The clever writing pairs quirky and offbeat characters with genuine relational issues, and masterfully inspires the audience in its own relational self awareness.
The exceptional script is matched by the chemistry of the two lead actors. Watching two superb actors apply their craft with such a connection is worth watching the entire series on its own. 10 out of 10... easy!
Bathtubs Over Broadway (2018)
A wonderful documentary
What a wonderful doco. I've been a huge theatre fan for decades but had no idea of this unique and hidden world. A highly recommended watch!
The Chosen (2017)
I was sceptical, but this was great!
Following a number if recent 'biblical' movies that were frankly terrible, I approached this series with great scepticism. I was very surprised by the quality of the storytelling and acting. Sure it doesn't have the budget of mega shows, but the experience was not compromised.
The scene with Nic was outstanding.
Well done. Highly recommended.
Manchester by the Sea (2016)
A terrible, slow, poorly acted movie.
Wow, this is one of those movies that the critics love because that's what critics do. In reality, it was slow and the acting wooden. God awful... don't waste your time.
Mortal Engines (2018)
Cracker
Another New Zealand masterpiece. Taking the highest quality little known actors and creating a masterful science fiction epic with next level CGI and effects of every kind. Add a sensational score and completely unique storyline and one could easily rate this as their movie of 2018.
