Banshee (2013–2016)

Homelander vs Antony Starr

I was just scrolling through the list of movies and shows on my TV when this strange poster and even a stranger title"Banshee" (which I have never heard) came-up. After reading the synopsis I gave it a try and boy was I up for a ride of pure action, suspense & a great story.

I have completed the 1st season and I was thinking of the main lead cast "Antony Starr" that I have seen him somewhere, that is when my nephew said that this guy is the "Homelander" and yes there it was.

I love "The Boys" series and watched it twice. But I got to say that Antony here was just in contrast to the Homelander and that too in a very good way. His acting was just super here. I mean no offence to his Homelander character (which he portrayed astonishingly well) but in Banshee he was just plain cool.

I am yet to start with season 2 but after reading the reviews I am certain to get a full dose of satisfaction.

The Song of Scorpions (2017)

Nice to have seen this

I think it is one of the last movies of Irfan Khan if not the last. His acting as always has been par excellence. The story itself is all heart-touching and confusing at time. If you are not a Rajhistani then don't watch it without the sub-titles or you'll get lost.

The love the passion the quest and above all the emotions portrayed are beyond words. It is well directed and very well acted by all the actors.

The life of rural desert people is indeed very hard yet very simple. People living in the city will be astonished by the simple ways and day-to-day life portrayed in this movie. Surely we live in a world which has so many places yet to be explored.

Jaane Jaan (2023)

Lots of Twists & Turns

This is a one very well written and of course very well acted by the actors, especially Kareena made it look so easy with her exceptional acting skills.

The ups and downs made me stick to it and I watched it with my family. One of the very few films you can watch in one go. One thing I did not like though was the ending. The ending left many questions unanswered.

We need more thrillers like this with no so much budget but with a solid story and cinematography. The director here has done a wonderful job.

Overall it was a nice and decent watch keeping in the the films that are coming out now a days. I think Indian cinema should focus more on these lines.

Adipurush (2023)

I am a Muslim & I dislike this movie

Just one day prior to watching this movie, I was narrating the story of Raam, Sita, Lakhsman & Rawaan. The next day when I turned on my netflx I got recommendation for this movie. (I am a big fan of Raam & his story by the way and I had Hindu friends who would narrate me the story every now and then during my school days)

So I sat with my kids and watched the movie, first of all the VFX was totally childish (My kids and I were comparing it to Bahubali, which is an epic). Secondly there was no proper character introduction to any of the characters and the story starts off from the middle. Rather than how Raam got married to Sita while he shot the arrow in the fish's eye.

Anyways, both the side of Raam and Rawaan were totally different. Raam's side was rather backwards vs Rawaan's side was ultra modern except for the giant bat that he rides. Rawaan's 10 faces looked like a child had done the VFX. And I can go on and on and on.

My kids got a grasp of what I narrated to them one day back. But I am totally disappointed by the overall movie. It could have been made a thousand times more better that what it is.

The Woman King (2022)

Seeing its poster I was not interested to Watch

As they say "Don't judge a book by its cover". This came true when at last I saw this movie. The cinematography, locations, ambiance, story and acting were all spot-on.

I haven't seen a better movie in this genre and I was just hooked from the start till the end. The story itself was very good and very well presented. The main characters are well developed over the time and made me fell attached to them.

Overall it was a treat to watch and I am very desperate to know if there would ever be a sequel to it. So many bad movies being made now a day and suddenly you come across such a master piece. Hats off to all the cast and crew.

Black Crab (2022)

Who makes movies like this

I am totally and utterly disappointed after watching this movie. There is no character building of any sort. Just some flash-backs to fill your mind that you are actually watching a movie starring Noomi. Other than that it is totally mindless and baseless. I feel sorry for myself to have watched the whole movie in one go so that I may get some inner satisfaction but I got none.

I've a lot to write about many of the bad and awful scenes but I rest my case here.

Mare of Easttown (2021)

Superb - All Stars Kate

A seven episode series and so accurate and so perfect. The highlight of course was Kate Winslet. After finishing it last night (all seven episodes) I am still digesting the turning points (Loads of them).

This is a must watch for all the KW fans as well as for its high production value. You would probably thing of it as Hollywood, but I would say it was all a reality check.

I am an Asian and I have been watching Hollywood movies since my childhood, but one thing I am always puzzled about is the ways the kids normally behave when they go 14+ Anyways a great show and cast as well as great suspense all together.

Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)

I never reviewed any title but I am totally disappointed

Yes I have never reviewed any title in my life ever. But I am really really forced to do so as I am annoyed after watching this movie. I am a big fan of super-hero movies and Wonder Woman was no exception for me. I waited the whole of 2020 and watched all the official trailers of it in anticipation that I was in for a treat. But boy I had the biggest surprise of my life after watching it. Too too bad. The story, the animation effects all at its all time worse. I gave it three stars only for the the trailers and not for the actual movie. I thought that I had watched most of the worst movies in my life. But it WW84 has proved me wrong.
