The Edge (1997)

Enjoyable thiller with outdated animal hatred
18 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The film is a technically well-made almost enjoyable thriller.

The problem is an outdated relationship between animals and humans. In one scene, the main characters hunt a squirrel and leave it in a cage - apparently to starve to death. The filmmakers could have added a shot where this squirrel is released as the main characters leave - but no. Another problem is that the movie claims bears to chase people. Because of this, two delusional men torture the bear with traps and spears.

After the bear scenes, you can enjoy the movie again, but because of animal hatred, this movie is hard to like with modern day standards.

How I Met Your Mother: Bedtime Stories (2013)

I couldn't finish the episode
19 July 2022
Worst episode ever in any comedy series.

I don't really care how smart the screenwriter think he/she is, this episode was only a waste of time. Absolutely no character development. Screenwriter only wants to end every sentence into a rhymh.

Amazing episode

Warning: Spoilers
So much hate in other reviews. This is a very dramatic episode and historically accurate. Churches really had power to change people minds. Easy way to do that was to claim someone being a witch.

They have been building up this power struggle against Jamie for the whole season so dont say that it came suddenly in this episode.

The Witcher (2019– )

A very poor effort in every aspect
20 December 2019
Basically no blood, no nudity, no sex. Even the Witcher games are bolder. Plot drags and production values are mediocre if even that. Basically nothing happens.

I believed they'll put money into this one, but no. I've now seen 2 episodes and not sure if I will finish the season one. That is how boring this is. If you don't believe, check yourself.

Most will be disappointed.

I can't believe this
23 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I actually gave 10 stars for the episode 5. And then comes this final episode which is a total wreck. I still don't know what really happened? Why the Unsullied took Jon as a prisoner? Absolutely out of a character moment for them. They would had executed him without a question. Why the dragon left Jon to be? Those moron writers just couldn't let Drogon to burn Jon to reveal that he is Targaryan. That would had made some sense, but no. It's enough for Drogon to burn down the throne. In the council scene nobody remembers that they were hailing Jon as a king just an episode ago. They don't even mention him, not even Arya or Sansa who have always loved their brother. Instead they choose Bran because the little man says that he has a good story. Yeah, for sure. The best story in the realm. Our staring wonder boy who flies with birds is an awesome ruler for sure. And I don't even actually mind Bran to be a king, but the way how writers constantly forgot every plot point they made earlier in the series and even in this season and instead just made new ones really make this ending a total garbage. A wasted opportunity. Could have been easily the best series ever made, now it's just a good series with a really messed up ending. Such a shame. Such a shame D&D. Go - urself.

Game of Thrones: The Bells (2019)

Back in business, a really strong episode finally that many will hate
13 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I really hated the last 2 episodes (3 and 4), but this one was what GoT has always been at its best: a really dark and complex episode.

Many people will hate this episode and the way everything turned out to be. But as in real life not every good looking journey has a nice ending. What they hailed as their queen, came with a revenge in her heart.

And finally we saw what dragons are all about. And what they can do. Dark fantasy at its best.

I miss Martin
7 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It is amazing how fast a a good show dies after they lose the story teller (meaning the original books). I am not sure how much Martin is still participating into the show, but they just wasted the whole thing in the past few episodes. All the clever things that made this a big one are gone and replaced with some mediocre Hollywood writing.

Build up is rather nice in the 1st part of this episode. Then out of nowhere they shoot a dragon down (remember how big plot point the 1st one that died was) and we see some people surviving (nobody know how or why the girl was captured.. they just don't bother to tell). And then we have few soldiers with Daenerys giving an ultimatum to Cersei with an army and some odd standing and staring and a really pathetic dialog about Cerseis children and too obvious kill that I guess should have been emotional, but they just failed to write any feelings into it.

When the writing became this bad? Absolutely no tension, just too obvious and cliche. It feels almost like the writers trusted too much to their series and thought that everything they write will be gold. Well it ain't. A once good series is in it's ruins now. And they had 2 years to make this last season, and this is what they give us. A very... very poor effort.

The Walking Dead: Some Guy (2017)
Season 8, Episode 4

I think they are losing the series
14 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I don't usually write reviews, but this show is just dropping so fast that it is like a free fall. Either writers think that their audience is extremely stupid, or we really are since we come back every week to see if things will get better. After seeing 4 really bad episodes so far in this season I feel very hard to start caring again.

-- CONTAINS SPOILERS -- Last episode we had one deus ex machine gun super saving of a hero, in this episode we got two of those, well three if you count Carol in. It is just really bad script writing - you get your characters in a bad position and your only solution is to let some dude just be a super hero for a second and save the day. First Ezekiel is saved twice by some random followers and then Carol makes some super stunt killing multiple bad guys plus 10 zombies to save the day. I am just getting really bored to this. What makes this even worst is the absence of all logic.

4 episodes now with multiple bad guys shooting all they have with their unlimited ammo with a distance about 10 meters without hitting anywhere. Carol is hiding behind a car - we all have seen from other shows what bullets do to cars - but this is some Mickey Mouse version of a gun fight in a series that started dark and gloomy. Well it ain't more. This is a circus nowadays.

But the car chase really killed it. You have a point blank range with a HEAVY MACHINE GUN and you shoot a full round and you hit the car (which Rick is driving) and what you get, some firecrackers on the engine bonnet. Are you serious?

What is even worst is that they could have done these 4 episodes in 1. But I guess Walking Dead is just making money now by dragging the show as slow as they can and with as few character per episode that they can. There are also far too many characters to make this show the compact thriller it once was.

I really think the series is lost. And I am surprised if ratings don't drop even further.

One pointed view
8 November 2017
This is a good documentary, well made and interesting to watch.

However The Venerable W. has only one view point which is made up from the basic left wing ideas. Somehow these people suffer from naive approach to the cultural politics. To name one person as evil, is always a misstep since the world is never that simple.

I really would like to see a documentary about the Muslim hate towards Christianity and other religions, but this subject matter is just too hard for these documentaries to approach. So they rather take an easy path. This documentary is all about going through that lane.
