Surf's Up (2007)

This movie is not just another penguin movie

Let me start by telling that Shrek The Third was a disappointment. Watching Surf's Up I was not disappointed.

Surf's Up is a film about Cody the penguin who can surf. Cody has the chance to go compete at a surfing contest at an island far from home. During his time spent there he makes new friends, a love interest, and learns more about himself.

Surf's Up is made in documentary style (a.k.a mockumentary) and it suits the film well. No other animated feature that I can think up of has done this before. Surf's Up dared to be different. I really enjoyed the animation style of this film and how the penguins had different designs.

Surf's Up is a creative film worth watching and hopefully around Oscar time may get recognition.

Happy Feet (2006)

Does it cause toe-tapping? Indeed it does.

WOW, cool film I think it has stunning animation compared to most films today. I hope it wins the Oscar for Best Animated Feature, though many people are saying it won't. But I sure hope so.

The story is about Mumble, a penguin who can't sing but has the ability to dance. The other penguins treat him as an outcast and he gets banned from his land because he can't sing. He then teams up with the amigos and learns to accept himself. At the same time it shows a good message about the environment.

I hope people who think that they'd rather see James Bond would take the time to go SEE this movie and NOT JUDGE it. This movie is worth the money to go see. And by the end of the film I kept on toe-tapping =)

United 93 (2006)

Face Your Fear America

Some people think it's too soon for a movie about 9/11. For me, I think it's about time. The U.S. needs to face their fear about attacks head on. This movie isn't action-packed, it seems to be done in somewhat of a documentary style. The people who were on this flight did what they can, and they represented our country, even though none of them survived. We are not sure if they fought back, this is just a film portraying on a real event that happened. The most high point of the film is when the passengers fight back and start hitting one of the high jackers and remove the homemade bomb and them trying to break in the cockpit to try to save the plane and the passengers.

This is one of three (If I am not mistaken) films that are about 9/11. I was only 10 when this scary event happened. Everyone was scared around the nation. It is about time that our country to face their fears and look back on this frightful day.

This TV show is about a girl named Bloom who finds out that she has powers 1 day. She goes to the woods where she finds Princess Stella of Solaria. Stella is battling an ogre who is trying to take her scepter. Bloom helps her out, and Stella returns the favor (that's what I say) by asking Bloom if she would want to come to Alfea College. Bloom agrees. She also meets Flora, Techna, and Musa. But then trouble starts, three witches from Cloud Tower want Bloom's power. Icy, Stormy, and Darcy attempt to make Bloom's life miserable. But things get even worse when they take her power.And her crush Brandon is a prince and is in engagement with another princess.

People say this is a cross between sailor moon and harry potter. Except this is better than sailor moon, because sailor moon and the gang are almost always obsessed w/boys. In Winx Club they like boys, but don't fuss much about boys...
