Absolutely Dreadful!!
15 April 2011
I sat through this entire film during the French Film Festival at the Director's Guild. Writer + Director Bertrand Blier was present during a Q&A after the movie and that's about the nicest I have to say about the experience. There might be snobs and movie critics who say this is art in its finest form, like brown nosing Jon Amiel who did the interview. Let me be the first to say it is NOT!! Symbolism is one thing, surrealism another and there's nothing wrong with either one. But using some silly actor to represent a person's cancer?? Wow, REALLY?? Besides a few giggles and the few people who left the theatre in pure anger, I sat there in the dark in disbelief.

Woody Allen fans rejoice
9 June 2009
for everyone else...

a not very funny, theatrical, at times bad acted kind of film with the typical Woody Allen wacky humor.

One can only handle so much of Larry David talking to the audience with this tiresome negative, cynical and cranky old man dialog.

It's the kind of film that would probably have been funny if it was made back in the 60s, however, it's not and it comes across as a try hard to be funny kind of movie.

So, if you LOVE Woody Allen, totally disregard this review and go have a good time.

If you aren't save it for the DVD release on a rainy day.

Singing to a dead audience
21 January 2008
Sweeney Todd!!! I was looking forward to see another Burton/Depp adventure! However, the movie started off with a series of really bad songs and silly humor of Bonham-Carter killing roaches and adding them into her dough, I really just wanted to leave the theater. I was BORED!!!! Luckily Sasha Cohen's "Italian" barber brought forth a series of good belly laughs and it affected my movie experience in a positive that I hung out towards the end.

I enjoyed a few songs, however, the majority were still mediocre. I had wished this movie hadn't been a MUSICAL and I would have enjoyed it more even for such a thin plot. Visuals are great as with any Tim Burton movie.
