Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
The movie was beautiful, granted. But......
I'm indifferent to the first movie but the pacing was undoubtedly superior. This movie had some amazing, bordering on genius ideas, that can't be denied. But the scenes where the movie became a nature documentary fell into the trap of presenting as pretentious and dragged out far too long. By the end of the movie you feel like the movie could well have been several hours longer than it actually was. It was well worth the price of admission for its technical achievements. In my case I do not think I could bring myself to experience the movie again which is a real shame, it has an awful lot of promise.
Studio 666 (2022)
I really liked it!
I'm a massive FF fan and I expected this to be a funny B movie with cheap gore, cheap laughs and great music. And that's exactly what it was! Don't expect anything more.
Cruella (2021)
Terrific movie
This movie is really a gem. A fun little heist movie carried by 2 phenomenal performances from Emma Stone and Emma Thompson. I would have made it a 10 if not for some truly nightmare fuel CGI on the Dalmations, they kept glitching and it was really quite disturbing. Other than that I really hope we get sequels to see Emma Stone go full Cruella.
Spiral: From the Book of Saw (2021)
Great facelift for a dead franchise ..... But not perfect
Okay so I wanted to rate this higher but it loses its points for the twists being less.... Well twisty!
The ending was more surprising than I expected based on the fact that it was projected from the first 15 mins in. The crooked cops storyline was really interesting and gave extra dimension to a franchise that was dead after the 3rd movie. At first we had the whole "could it be Jigsaw" no way Jigsaw is dead and I thought great... Here we go again.
Thankfully it gave the franchise the facelift it needed to hopefully give us a better sequel! Will definitely watch again and enjoyed thoroughly.
Mortal Kombat (2021)
Let's talk about the plot....
WHO CARES! Seriously who came into this expecting an Oscar winning plot with meaningful storylines?
It was great! Violent as hell and entertainment at its finest, hope the sequel comes in good time so we can get to see more MK characters come in!
Superman Returns (2006)
So here I am... Nearly 15 years later
Why the hate? If you love the Christopher Reeves version then you have to love this one? It captures the characters so perfectly. People say Kate Bosworth is miscast, but she's straight off of the page in comparison to Amy Adams, Kevin Spacey, not his biggest fan, was superb as Lex. I just love this movie, never do I feel disengaged when I'm watching it! Easiest 10/10 I've given for this chunk of comic book cheese.
Holmes & Watson (2018)
Not as bad as all that...
So it's lazy, so it's childish. John and Will are having a blast! As a result I had a blast! If you went into this expecting a classic or even a "good" movie then you came to the wrong movie. It's stupid and funny.
David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet (2020)
Harrowing and beautiful
David Attenborough is a personal hero of mine and I must admit I've never seen him like this. I've known for a long time that we're destroying our planet and ive lived in ignorance. This documentary made me want to change and do more.
I can't help but feel like this was all very final and Attenborough is saying goodbye though, as if to say it's over to us now.
Please watch it, it's an extremely important message from a national treasure.
The Last of Us: Part II (2020)
Magnificent. But you had to lose yourself to the direction.
So after about 40 hours of exploring, laughing, cringing and occasionally crying my journey with Ellie, Joel, Abby and just a host of new characters came to an end. But back to 2013 I fell in love with the characters in the first game, their flaws and all. It was the first game that truly felt human, and captured the world in both its brutality and its beauty. Everyone knows how that turned out, Joel got his second chance.
The second game is just so much more bleak and hits some emotional notes but really steps up the horror and the brutality. I won't spoil anything but I will applaud Naughty Dog on the finest display of graphics and gameplay the world has ever seen. The world is vast and beautifully constructed and i just simply couldn't put it down.
The best gaming experience of my life..... I dont think it will ever be topped.
Tiger King (2020)
Wow..... How is this based on real life?
Okay so I'm only a few episodes in, but already I find myself questioning everything as if it affects my own life. If Carole Baskin hates keeping big cats in cages so much, what does she call what she does?
Despite being in love with money, Joe Exotic loves his animals a whole lot and they look happy. Although the guy is absolutely mental!

Dolittle (2020)
I loved every second.
First of all, I saw cats as well and its horrific, horrible CGI, annoying characters and some pretty bad singing too. So tell me...... how is this movie as bad?
I've heard so many people say it's bad because of production issues, or it's bad because high budget. Why would RDJ choose a movie like this? Well first of all, yes I'm aware of the production issues, but it's also a terrific movie with a good plot, heartwarming moments and some pretty hilarious ones aswell, the squirrel a particular one. High budget, the cast and FX cost money and for me worth every penny, visually the movie looks beautiful, really whimsical and fun. Lastly RDJ is trying to distance himself from the last decade of his career, stands to reason.
Rate the movie on its merits, that's all I'll say.
The Ricky Gervais Show (2010)
Head like a f**cking orange!
Karl, Ricky and Stephen are 3 of the funniest men alive. No jokes are told, no studio laughter to force you into thinking something is funny. Just the anecdotes and hilarious observations of the little round headed buffoon that is Karl Pilkington.
Seen every episode multiple times over and it NEVER gets old.
Haunted (2018)
How dare Netflix.....
Netflix, how dare you exploit people with this garbage, the fact you continue to sell them as true stories actually makes me angry. You get an extra star for comedy.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019)
I don't understand.....
It never really justifies why it exists.. the movie isn't the worst I've personally seen, but it was only MARGINALLY better than Fant4stic.
Here's why...
They go the other way, instead of origins, origins, origins, the fight, the end, it kinda goes the build up, the build up, the build up, the end.
That for me is unforgivable for such a great story arc, Sophie Turner is so lifeless and drab throughout and it kinda reflects on the rest of the film, evan peters is awesome again but reduced to a few cool slow-mo scenes, nowhere NEAR as good as Days of Future Past. Then the movie ends.
Imagine if we got Infinity War (which was far better than this.) And then Endgame never happened. So many unanswered questions and new characters just brushed over.
A few people liked it because cool effects which it had in abundance but as a HUGE Marvel fan I just want to see the MCU bring the characters to life in a cohesive universe.
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
What.... just happened...
I laughed I cried, I shouted at one point. I had my head in my hands. I had my hands in the air. I went back to the box office and booked again.
One word...... special.
See it to believe it, a masterclass in film making. And the perfect close to a decade of entertainment and a year of obsession and theorizing (and STILL being off the Mark.)
The Curse of La Llorona (2019)
Really enjoyed it
They definitely redeemed themselves for the nun. Although they made LaLlorona look a little TOO much like Valak. Linda Cardellini is always great so a bit of acting poser goes a long way. Solid horror film but imperfect 7/10.
Glass (2019)
Tremendous movie, critics need to lighten the F up
The critics are so harsh, James McAvoy should be Oscar nominated for This, flicking through personalities and transforming into the beast with some flashes of Kevin Wendell Crumb and then the awesome twist tying in the relation to Elijah Glass who was deliciously evil throughout with some (kinda underused) Bruce Willis action.
In my opinion better than Unbreakable, not as good as split, but then..... was split really a sequel anyway?
Enjoy..... I did!
Stan & Ollie (2018)
Stunning and beautiful homage to legends
I won't bore you with details but I will say this. The history is a tad upside down but it's a stunning homage to the legendary laurel and hardy and thanks to Steve Coogan and John C Reilly for making them come to life for us. Beautiful.
Avatar (2009)
After 4 viewings over nearly a decade...
I've come to the consensus that as beautiful the world looks, there is no story that's in any way original.
It was hard to ignore the hype but this movie is all style and no substance, with weird and obtuse being mistaken for creativity and weird blue native American ceremonies and bonding rituals in place of character development. In the end we end up with characters we don't care much for and a generic "humans are evil" plot.
I promise I really really wanted to like it, more than anything. But sadly underneath all of the pretty CGI fx it's just like a McDonald's happy meal, cheap and bland. Highly disappointing.
Bird Box (2018)
Loved it, great pacing, great premise.
I'll keep it short. I'm sick of people giving films negative reviews because they're on Netflix. This was awesome and so was Mowgli. Ive seen A Quiet Place, and although the premise is MARGINALLY similar. This was more entertaining and better paced. But that's just my opinion, enjoy it for yourself and see what you think. After all that's all my review is..... my opinion.
Creed II (2018)
This movie is unreal!
I love the Rocky franchise, arguably excluding the weird 5th instalment. Even Rocky Balboa (6) was great, stupid.... okay sure a bit stupid, a pensioner wants to fight the champion because of a virtual fight where he wins at the age of 60 something, so the champion accepts to prove he can beat a pensioner and then the pensioner proves that heart can overcome arrogance... I digress, it just works!
Where Creed is different, Adonis is damaged in a way that Michael B Jordan portrays far too well. Rocky is relegated to the role of walking fortune cookie which is great. The beauty of this Is, Rocky IV suspended disbelief, are we really to believe that a, seemingly, invincible fighter who murdered a champion with his bare hands can be beaten because some smaller dude flipped some tired and ran a lot in Russia? Sure it worked but really?
First of all, they made Viktor Drago a machine... but a machine with flaws and humanity. This made it believable that Adonis could really beat him. They also didn't lower Dragos standard to meet Creeds, he fought the same in both fights, instead they completely changed Adonis' fighting style and used strategy.
I will be watching again, amazing! Great work.
9/11 (2017)
Episode of Two and a Half Men with the laughing cut out
I feel like this was a little disrespectful. Adam Sandler did a rendition of 9/11 and it was an acting masterclass, really amazing and insightful film.
Charlie Sheen was truly truly horrendous and monologues as if he was in Two and a Half Men. A lift full of comedy actors and a woman who's face cannot move due to being primarily made of plastic and silicone.
Whoopi Goldberg does not do serious.... sorry whoopi you're a legend but this was a low point and the entire film just glossed over the fact that this was one of the biggest tragedies in history.
Next up, a remake of Schindlers List starring Kevin Hart. Or how about a Vietnam film starring Josh Gad?
One of the most bizarre watches 😂
Robin Hood (2018)
Ignore the fact it's a Robin Hood story and we have a 10
I live in Nottingham so Robin Hood is pretty celebrated here. I loved the film greatly entertaining.... HOWEVER!
It COMPLETELY misses the point and tried to copy what Guy Ritchie did with the King Arthur story which I enjoyed more due to the witty dialogue and sheer style of the whole thing.
With this the cast gave everything to their respective roles however for me it just wasn't Robin Hood I'm afraid.
Final Score (2018)
HAHAHA worst film ever!
Dave Bautista is hilarious in this, Steven Seagal should get an Oscar in comparison, as if West Ham would reach the semi final too! 😂 quit while you're drastically behind Sky, hurricane heist was toss as well.
If the film being bases around West Ham is a spoiler then I guess this review isn't spoiler free.
Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)
More than just a biopic
I'm 24 years old and a massive Queen fan and I've watched so many Freddie documentaries. But then this isn't about Freddie. It's a chance for me, to see Queen in action. Know the story of the BAND instead of just Freddie. That's what makes this special.
