Fallout (2024– )

Overall great, but a little slow at times

Overall the show is great and at the end we are left wanting more, but I feel the show started very strong, then several episodes were just kind of mediocre, then the last 2 were really good. I am definitely looking forward to the next season. The visuals are fantastic, the plot is pretty darn good (albeit slightly messy) and the actors are top notch! Walton Goggins is just absolutely amazing and we wouldn't expect any less of him. There are some cool innovative quirky aspects to the show that make it unique. Also they don't hold back on the violence and gore at all. Give it a shot and stick with it! The end is worth it.

Parish (2024– )

Don't listen to the bad reviews

I cannot believe this show at the time of writing has not even a seven. I had to give it a nine just to balance things but I truly think it is at least a solid eight or more. The plot is interesting, acting (at least by the mains characters) is excellent, and the suspense is a plenty. I'm not sure what others were expecting. I guess you will either love it or hate it. It is actually so good I anticipate seeing the next one. It is action packed and will keep you on the edge of your seat. Nothing hokey either. Giancarlo is absolutely fantastic: What else would you expect? If you aren't hooked by 2 episodes then probably not for you but you will know after the 2nd whether it is worth your time to continue.

Into the Badlands (2015–2019)

Absolutely amazing

I've never been into martial arts movies or shows but I absolutely loved this and the martial arts scenes were all top notch. The story itself is quite amazing and how they tied it all together was very well thought out. I am so sad they didn't continue to make more seasons. It's really a shame.

The entire cast are excellent. The show had me hooked after about 3 episodes. This shows is one that has you really loving several of the characters as they each each such amazing unique traits that beg you to keep watching to see what will be their next move. I loved the show and in the end I gave it a 10 overall. Season one is an 8, two is a 9, and 3 was just an outstanding perfection. I want the creators to know how good of a job they did. BRING IT BACK!!

Severance (2022– )

Absolutely fantastic!

I watched this based on the reviews and the first half of the entire season was just 'good'. I almost stopped watching it but wow am I glad I didn't. 2/3 of the show is a build up to what comes the last few episodes and those last few are truly flawless and well worth the wait. I can't say enough good things about the cast either. They are really what got me through the first half of the show without stopping. Prior to the last few episodes I just wanted the show to be over. After the last few episodes I am so sad the season ended. I cannot wait for season 2. This is an award winning masterpiece.

Evil Dead Rise (2023)

Actually very good!

The visuals and cinematography are absolutely top notch, they did not spare any expense. The plot is actually pretty good too! The characters and acting are great and I found nothing to be hokey. I enjoyed the movie from start to finish.

I read a lot of bad reviews before I watched it which made me almost not watch it. So glad I did. I think 1/10 horror movies succeed and this one nailed it! I am thinking the original evil dead fans found this to be too different so they gave it a 1 star. Just a guess.

I can safely say i will recommend this to friends. The only reason I didn't give it a 10/10 is because of the overall plot falling just a bit short. 8/10 plot is still amazing.

Black Summer (2019–2021)

This show is quite a breath of fresh air. I cannot believe it has such a low star rating on IMDb. It is not at TWD level, but is a nice side show that is exciting, intense, and quite entertaining. And I have to say, the acting is actually pretty decent for not having any top rated performers. A buddy of mine told me about it a week ago and when I looked at the rating I scoffed at him with a grin: come on man, this show had a HORRIBLE rating. He said, I don't know why, but trust me. After watching 1 episode, I proceeded to binge it and within 4 days I am now done with season 1 and can't wait to see season 2. It's not the best show ever, but if you find yourself with nothing else at the moment, give it a try. You will know if you're into it by episode 2.

Lightyear (2022)

Pretty good

Wow I just can't believe the bad reviews. I use imdb scores and written reviews religiously and 95% of the time u think they are spot on. I watched this with my family and we were all very entertained throughout the entire movie. That should say enough. It was pretty well done and interesting.

Stranger Things (2016–2025)

Good but inconsistent

Season 1 is fantastic. Season 2 nearly ruined the show for me. Season 3 was phenomenal!

Now for Season 4 - bleh! Great visuals and it's good, but not that great! Actually pretty cheesy. It had so much potential but was just drawn out and overall not very captivating or thrilling. This season imo falls way short of 1 or 3 but is slightly more entertaining than 2 which was a disaster.

Will I watch season 5? Yes, hoping it is as good as or better than 1 or 3.

The Incredible Story of the Giant Pear (2017)

My 7 and 3 yo are absolutely hooked on this movie

This is my 7 year old son's favorite go to movie for going on about 3 years (since he was 4). He just loves it so much that I figured I had to write this review. I see this movie does not have a lot of reviews so I figure it is very under marketed and under appreciated by the masses, unlike many Disney movies. I have watched this movie a few times with him and I must say it is a bit of a gem. It is very unique and creative. The writers producers etc deserve more exposure on this.

My son is so obsessed with this movie he has asked for a 'dreadful sea dragon toy' and draws pictures of the sea dragon that he is so proud of. Wish I could share them as they're quite amazing. Unfortunately i have not been able to find any toy figures of the movie.

Kudos to the creators!

Sacha does it again. I started the movie thinking this is going to be so silly stupid. It's actually really creative and had me crying laughing more than once.

Narcos: Mexico (2018–2021)

Big fan of all seasons, this might be the best one

It seems each season just gets better. The producers/writers are just plain brilliant. Same theme as previous seasons, but with only a very slight actual connection to them. Almost like an anthology. Whole new set of characters, and they are all phenomenal, each bringing their own set of unique and interesting traits. The acting is outstanding. Can't wait for the follow up season! I rarely write reviews, but I am doing so because the producers deserve every last bit of praise. Oh wait, I don't want to hype it up too much and spoil it for you, this show is horrible! ;). Solid 10 for me, I can't rember the last show that evoked this much emotion for me (the final few episodes are epic).

The Expanse (2015–2022)

Absolute Perfection

I have always been a fan of space movies and shows but few are of any decent quality. The Expanse is fantastic in every way and deserves accolades. The first season is a bit low budget and some of the CGI is not the best, so just hang in there and half way through season 1 you will be hooked. Beautiful writing and visually stunning.

Dunkirk (2017)

Screams low budget but it's not!!

I was very much looking forward to this film but it disappoints in just about every way. The acting is horrible, characters are uninteresting, and some of the battle scenes are so hoaky I think I could film them myself with some buddies. The acting lets you know right away that it is "acting," unlike in a quality film that sucks you in, mesmerizes you, and you feel like it's real. Not at all the case here. Very amateur and a waste of time. I want my 1:30 back!!!

Fear the Walking Dead (2015–2023)

Excellent

The first season starts off a bit rough, but this show has matured so well that as of this review they are 4 episodes in on season 3 and I am blown away. The cast is exceptional, acting is solid, so much so that I think season 3 of this shows is already trumping the actual walking dead last season. I think TWD has gotten a bit stale and this show is a refreshing alternative of a similar post apocalyptic story. I give season 3 a 9/10, and I am a harsh critic.

Brimstone (2016)

Amazingly disappointing but still great

The plot, acting and overall quality of this movie are fantastic. Visually stunning and absolutely compelling! The reverend is such an amazing antagonist and all other characters are top notch. However, I have to say this movie could have so easily been a knock out, yet it falls short due to several flaws, which only begin to present themselves after the mid way point (when you are so heavily invested in the film). The serious and seemingly genuine nature of the movie offers it very little forgiveness for when things don't seem quite right. I won't say what these things are. I don't intend to place any spoilers in my review. All I can say is, the devil is in the details and if they have paid a little more attention, some of the scenes would have been rewritten very differently. There are 3 distinct scenes of which if they had been executed differently, for me the movie would have been a solid 9-10. The film had me so mesmerized and when each of the 3 flawed scenes occurred they ripped me so far out of my trance out of disappointment. Therefore for me the movie is no more than a 7. It could have been great!
