Turning Point: The Bomb and the Cold War (2024)
It started off so good
Then the first episode continued on, I began to see the liberal leanings and that US described as a country is not a good place. Three people discuss how the dropping of the atomic bombs on Japan are a travesty and totally unnecessary. These are three people who weren't even alive when all of this was going on. In their minds, a Russia beating Japan would have been better than the US defeating Japan. Would Russia have ever helped Japan rebuild?
I am not saying that the atomic bomb drops where a wonderful thing, but as somebody who didn't live then, I don't know, nor can I make a definitive judgment, if it was right or wrong to do. The arrogance of these historians is very off-putting.
In episode 2 they begin to comperr former President Trump to Joseph McCarthy. Seriously, President Trump is being discussed about the development of the atomic bomb in the Cold war, when he was alive for maybe 25% of that entire time.
Hollywood, you really do begin to tire me. Can't we at some point, have a documentary is about facts, not about how Hollywood feels about the United States.
Mr. Jones (2019)
Story lost in director trying too hard to be artsy
A good story, good actors, but seems like the emphasis was on making the scenes too artsy. Scenes went on for minutes and we are supposed to be mesmerized by the story in the images. Issue for me was after 30 seconds I got the point, didn't need another 2 and a half minutes to to have it driven home.
Could have been more powerful with more story.
Country at Heart (2020)
Couldn't find someone who could sing?
Typical story, that is fine as that what makes Hallmark, well, Hallmark. But none of the three could sing a note, corny songs, at least try Hallmark.
