I Spit on Your Grave (2010)
Effectively scratches that sadistic revenge itch
The violence is sufficiently well-acted and well-filmed that it need not be super graphic. There will be no mistaking what's happening to the characters and how they feel about it, even without explicitly seeing. You may be unsatisfied if your expectation is to see graphic gore. The gore is visualized in the after effects, not during the action itself. That said, the gory effects are well-made.
My disappointment with the film lies in the story itself. The plot is weak, but straightforward and uncomplicated. After the climactic final kill, there is no falling action or resolution. It's just straight to roll credits.
Remakes of older films are usually known to update the original story to include more modern technology and reflect the social climate. There was little of that in this film.
The movie was entertaining. I would have liked it better with a final scene. My ending would have Jennifer driving out of town, back to civilization, with a little satisfied smirk on her face. also a short shot showing the sheriff's daughter was not harmed, and another copy of the tape delivered to the sheriff's wife.
The Little Death (2014)
Where's the end?
This movie was really entertaining and had a lot going for it in the story, but I felt like the last 20 minutes of the film just got cut out. Climax, then straight to end credits, with no resolution. The characters and their plights were all appealing and drawing, but the lack of resolution really left me disappointed.
