The Suspicions of Mr Whicher (2011)
I want more but glad for what I have
Funny enough I only knew Paddy Considine from Shaun of the Dead and Hit Fuzz. I never thought of him much but after this and an episode of House of the Dragon I am a concerted fan. The series itself was great to watch and I immediately started rooting for Whicher without even knowing why. A sign of a great actor. Somehow I couldn't resist those sad, intelligent eyes.
I thought the cinematography was excellent and captured the feeling of the time, neither praising nor condemning but showing what was what. There were good and bad people and not always who you wanted it to be.
I do wish we had more of Whicher but I'm glad for what is there and the ending was still satisfying. If they always leave us wanting more then by golly they succeeded. I would say have a go at Whicher, it could take less than a day and is even more interesting since it's based on a real man. Glad to have a good show to refer someone to.
Cheers.
Blandings (2013)
Surrender your sanity and enjoy
Definitely have to be in the mood for a laugh going in. If your willing to be swept along in the madness you'll find yourself laughing out loud at the perfectly cast Blandings. Timothy Spall was absolutely perfect as the earl and the entire cast does the series justice. I love all things Wodehouse and I never fail to have a good belly laugh in each episode. Highly recommend.
The Nutcracker and the Four Realms (2018)
Wish there was more Tchaikovsky
I din't think I was going to like this movie. Mostly because I saw the ballet live and thought it was boring and didn't get the plot. But I liked this one. My big regret though is that it didn't have the music going with it. That's the best part. Too bad. Otherwise it was very enjoyable.
