Outsourced (2010)
An American worker comes to work to find out his entire office has been outsourced to India.
The show manages to create humour within the topic of an American adjusting to the ways of India. The show itself is hilarious, tackling many elements of Indian culture that us westerners find confusing, like choice of food and religion quality. This show turns those elements in to hilarious episodes that manage to be funny yet not entirely racist. Some Indians may be offended by the American characters' opinions on the culture, for example an American used a Hindu God's statue arm as a back scratcher. I watched the entire season 1 and the show managed to get humour from many situations, not just racial humour. However, some episodes don't connect and after a certain episode you go to the next one and think to yourself... "What? How is everything fine again?" That was the main gripe of this show, but other than that, this show deserves to be continued!
Soekarno: Indonesia Merdeka (2013)
An Indonesian movie which shows Soekarno's life and times during World War II
This is a brilliant Indonesian film revolving around the events of World War II in Indonesia. I feel the way the story was portrayed was really exciting, and the costumes were brilliant. I enjoyed that there was no propaganda in this movie, showing Soekarno's good and bad sides. The movie was in Indonesian and I only understood the brilliant dialogue through subtitles, and a member of the cinema's staff made everyone in the cinema hall sing the Indonesian national anthem before the movie started. The special effects were frightening and realistic, though not that special for the kind of movies you get these days. The acting was great, having the cast seem like they were really in the 90's, frightened by passing soldiers and brave, but not that special. The props were brilliant and seemed very like the olden days. This may be the best Asian movie that I've seen ever!
