What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962)
Fun, entertaining and scary!
This movie is great! I watched it last week, on a monday night before going to sleep and I couldnt stop watching it!
I was so hypnotized by Davis' performance, one of the best I have ever seen, amazing! The fact that she was brave enough to put this character on screen in 1962 is just so mesmerizing for me. The movie itself is so much fun to watch, its intense and has two of the biggest legends of Hollywood Cinema on screen together.
First question after watching this was why did I take so long to watch it? How come nobody has ever recommended me to watch it and why? This is a mesterpiece! As a Horror movie fan, Baby Jane should be on the list for the scariest characters of all time for sure!
Now a good tip, I watched Feud (S1), afterwards and it was a great experience to keep it fresh in mind, learning a little bit of the industry and their personal lives back then. Great performances from Lange and Sarandon also, Id recommend anybody to watch this combo.
Anatomie d'une chute (2023)
Why such a high rating?
This movie isn't bad.
The bad part is that is 2 and a half hours long that could easily have been 90 minutes. I had high expectations because of the awards and the high ratings, but man, you gotta have a lot of patience to watch this. The first part got me, then it only gets boring (not that boring if you like court room and deep long dialogue movies).
The good points about "Anatomie d'une chute" is the plot that is interesting, some of the dialogue and I'm giving it a 5 because of Hüllers performance.
However, is just another court room movie without a clear closure. Not that I was expecting it to show if the guy killed himself or not but Palm D Or Winner? Why? Nothing new to see here.
The Handmaid's Tale: Dear Offred (2022)
Better than the first 3 episodes of season 5...
This episode shows a "free" June trying to reach Serena and a "free" Serena trying to reach June (great acting from Yvonne Strahovski by the way). There was a little bit of action and we could also see the tension escalating for the next episodes (I hope so). I wish I could se some more flashbacks to be honest, this is getting to unreal and not as frightening as the first seasons. Episode 4 shows a weak Canada and I dont get where is the international opinion from other countries over the situation (they talked a little about Venezuela too and I dont get the point of that).
Some questions that I keep looking for an answer over the series: where's the US government that has been installed in Alaska? Whats happening elswhere in Gilead besides the northeastern US? Okay we see a lot of rebels that flew out of Gilead but what happened to them? Is it so easy to get to the US/Canadian border and theres no patrol at all (lets remember that Gilead is at war)? What about the people fleeing to Mexico or elsewhere? They dont do any research about it?
The producers/writers are going to have to be really creative and smart to end this show as a good show, it seemed easy at first but its becoming quite frustrating. In my opinion I could see something better than the last 3 episodes of season 5. This show should have ended on season 4, but as a fan Im gonna have to be patient with the plot holes and the filler episodes.
The Handmaid's Tale: Milk (2021)
Handmaids clothes dont get wet!
Ok, June and Janine ran away from the guard through the train tracks, and at some point they find some Gilead army trains ready to leave. One of this trains is full of liquid, which is milk and they jump in hiding from the guards. At this point is just ok, but after there are some points that really bothered me. June easily finds the drain and the milk is gone after a minute. After that when the train stops and they leave, they are not even wet or sticky from the milk, it actually seems that Janine and June's clothes are actually clean, dry and warm. That was super annoying to watch actually. Another thing that bothers me is the fact they never mention the handmaid that commited suicide before June was posted to the Waterfords. Rita was there when it happened and she never speaks about it, I hope at some point they get deeper at this but I believe they wont. The episode has some high points also like Janines past and Chicagos landscape at war. Im giving it a 7 because the show is too good and this is not one of the best episodes, not memorable.
Paranormal Activity 3 (2011)
10 for a fan of Horror Films
This movie is very scary and creepy, even though its been years that I've watched it, its still in my head! The best movie of the series for sure, and if you are a horror movie fan you won't regret. Not like PA 1 and 2 this one has things going on the whole movie.
