The Killer (2023)
So so
This is the kind of movie you watch for the simple journey of it. It's not great. It's not thought provoking. However, the acting is good. When there is action, it is done well. This is David Fincher, after all. It's quite disappointing in another light. When people would ask David if he'd make another Mindhunter, he said Netflix didn't want to make another. Instead, he referred to this project since it dealt with someone who was a killer. This is far from a reference in relation to Mindhunter. There isn't anything to learn from this film. It's a generic hitman movie and it's not anyone's fault except for Netflix. I see that David didn't write this. It was phoned in. Renew Mindhunter. Stop making movies that are generic.
Lioness (2023)
Not bad but definitely stretched...
The first season feels like a few episodes compared to Sheridan's other shows. Good acting and story is pretty good - 8/10. Morgan Freeman isn't in the show that much, as I did expect to see more Morgan Freeman with how he's at the center of the poster. But I guess that was a paramount decision to bring in more subscribers to their online streaming service. As for the slow nature of the whole season, brings it down to a 7. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy slow burns that build a lot up but that doesn't happen here. Maybe the next season will pick up the pace. Taylor does a great job at writing but shouldn't rush stuff out to help build the corporate brand.
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
Yes, we love it
Yeah, sometimes people understand the movie. Because you know, most of us are weird. That's why we give the movie a perfect rating. It is entirely relative to each of us, not you. 😘 It is a very fun, action-packed, over the top rollercoaster. Sometimes it feels like a psychedelic journey, sometimes like feeling a scientific theory. But most importantly, it has heart. It reaches for the heart of the cold of this modern digital age in which many regard themselves as reflections of their devices. We are pulled apart, separated more than ever but stories like this help remind us of what's important beyond what we can't control.
Resident Evil (2022)
Not even the Politically-Correct aspect that bothers me the most...
Should had been called something else altogether, not based off of RE. In the future, there are mutations and multiple viruses, which include new creatures such as vampires. Werewolves, etc. This story is nothing like the video games. All fans have asked for since the original film series was an adaptation that actually copies the stories from the video games. They're that good. But nope, another bulls**t ripoff. Honest facts. This is why it truly fails. I hope HBO picks this up and Remakes it. Sick and tired of crappy attempts by Netflix which is why I am a HBOMax subscriber from now on. Their shows are consistently good, since the 90s.
Vikings: Valhalla (2022)
Diversity? Why?
This is Vikings, not America. The actors chosen are completely unbelievable. I usually love diversity but not for Scandinavian history. Too far, too bad. Pass.
Pam & Tommy (2022)
Inaccurate but....
This show is a whole lot of fun. It's fun watching the drama of the tape unfold. Highly sensationalized, not accurate, rather, Loosely based. Enjoy the ride, think of it as a fiction of reality. The actors do a good job. Just don't take it as a history lesson.
Foundation (2021)
Underrated; Completely surprised at how well done this is...
By far Apple's flagship title. I can't believe how underrated this show is. The acting, the effects, the cinematography, it's all very very well done. I find myself wanting to see what happens next at the end of each episode. I find myself having goosebumps. I have finally found a modern amazing series. While the dialogue takes time to get used to as with any huge imaginative story, everything is very well paced and acted. Go watch this immediately.
9/10, Game of Thrones level of awesome. Don't miss out.
The Afterparty: Yasper (2022)
Pure Meh....
Mixing a satire with a musical really didn't work for this show. I fell asleep numerous times being bored by this character. Good thing each episode is a completely different perspective.
Dexter: New Blood: Sins of the Father (2022)
WASTED OPPORTUNITY
Dexter deserved a proper sendoff with his son, leaving the ending open for imagination. Nope. All for nothing. I personally preferred the original ending as it at least allowed Dexter to live on.
Brand New Cherry Flavor (2021)
When normal is overrated...
This show exists. If you want something bizarre and refreshing with a supernatural twist, look no further. This is it. The acting is top notch. Pacing is slow but deliberately so to set up multiple plot points. Not good for the fast food mentalities of normalcy, but good for "the others."
Sense8 (2015)
One of the best shows in Existence...
Amazing show, tackles so many issues of modern reality. Has a story similar to the Matrix series and Cloud Atlas in regards to corruption controlling the power of unity. I thoroughly recommend this series, one of the best ever created alongside Lost and other great shows. The show should be higher in rating but there are people out there that enjoyed aspects of the show yet not the entirety, so automatically downvote it to 1. As a result, I knock mine up to a perfect 10 to balance the hate against interconnected love. Long live our favorite Sensates!
Warrior (2019)
Best series, thanks Bruce Lee!
This was the original plot that was changed into "Kung-Fu." So glad we get to experience the original vision rather than be stuck with the whitewashed version (good series, but not as good as Warrior). Season 3 is now on its way to HBO Max. Go watch this immediately if you enjoy amazing choreography, cinematography, acting, and writing (writing that relates to our modern political climate in regards to the elite keeping civil unrest alive with its wealth). This show has it all.
