Tian yu (1998)
Thanks to the heartquaking times
It is even different for me, a Chinese youngster, just to comment on this sort of works, let alone introducing this movie to the worldwide spectators. Actually this is hard to be understood by foreigners, who will definitely consider this movie as a tragedy. It is a tragedy, and it is much more than a tragedy. In fact, it is the most heartquaking works of this theme I have ever received. This sort or this theme I have referred to is the particular times that happened in China decades ago, not far from us. Actually it is the times my parents have experienced. That period of ten years was filled with tragedies. The story this movie has described is just a corner of iceberg. What the times have given me is totally from our fathers' words or the works like this movie, which may not be so effective. However, what the times have given China is profound. Thanks to the times, China has been in the right direction for a long time. This direction has led and will go on leading the nation to unlimited prosperity.
Just Married (2003)
Courage Is Needed in Love
I would never be moved until the end of that. Or else I would like to say that could be a really awful movie if this ending were not designed. During my enjoying I never stop doubting what an inadvisable arrangement to tell us the come-off at the very first of the movie. When I am enjoying the final, however, I know that's the right choice. "Courage is needed for loving a guy", which is the beginning in a piece of fair-sounding Chinese song. In fact courage is needed for Tom and for Sarah as well in this movie. One side is the great disparity in their family background and life conditions, the other is the suspicion and even the disdain from Sarah's father and her other family members. The biggest frustration is what happened on their honeymoon, on which they began to doubt their marriage and some sorts of misapprehension exacerbated their distrust. Fortunately their love is true and lasting, which can endure no matter what kinds of disadvantage come forth. When they recollect with happy laughs and tears what has happened on their honeymoon, I think everyone can share their feeling at the same time. It is courage and lasting love that make and will make them crush through all of the frustrations before and after. God bless them. This movie will give you more confidence and expectations in your own love, try it!
The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement (2004)
Love Exceed Everything
I enjoyed this movie twice, as well as the preceding story, talking about the way on which Mia went from the very beginning when she got to know she was the princess of a country she never heard of to finally on the royal airplane leaving her American family to the country she actually belongs to. Nobody is born a queen.Mia, as well, had to learn how to be a queen. However, the most practical knowledge Mia had learned is love, is to insist true love of her own or the principle of love. With the step up of her left foot, she finally found her Mr. Right and the love that belonged to her. It is at the moment, at almost the ending of the movie, with the third step up of her left foot, that she becomes a queen of love.(actually she didn't step up her foot when she are obliged to kiss that decent man with which she had the engagement with. By the way, in my opinion the role of the man that the engagement involves is a little bit difficult to hold. In fact that actor played just right.) As I have said, the significance of the queen of love overpass the queen of a country. In fact it is Mia's heart filled with love that makes her an eligible and respectable queen of the country. Her love even made her initial competitor moved and falling in love with her. It is love's power. I would like to add that it is the best continuation of an originally successful movie I have ever seen. So it deserves 9 stars.
13 Going on 30 (2004)
Wetness Filled My Eyes
For the first time, wetness filled my eyes when I had just seen a comedic movie, as a man. It is a love movie better. Love is the common language in our world, no matter you are a Chinese or an American. Maybe some people keep their opinion that, as Chinese boys and girls, we come to maturity somewhat later than American counterpart. But in fact whatever you are, you are more likely to understand true love when you are 30, rather than 13. This movie made me weep fully because of its touching and moving power. It will teach me, as well as whoever has seen it, how to love. I'm sure that, no matter you are a man or a woman, you can learn something from it. Especially when you are a so-called man or woman, maybe about 20 years old, when you have always been trying to get rid of your parents' advice or have run into a somewhat self-serving dream for a beautiful life but can't take the corresponding commitment and responsibility at the same time, this movie will let you have a imagine how you will choose 10 years later, when you will have been a true man. Love makes this world and everyone in it warm. Respecting your love choice is respecting yourself and your sweet heart, more directly, it will make you happy for your whole life. It is an excellent movie, recommended!
Ju-on (2000)
Really horror the first sight, little sense the second
I have hardly seen a pure horror movie. I think it is somewhat non-sense. Some seemingly pure horror movies have some philosophy that is rethink worthing and maybe beyond your comprehension when you first see it. I always think that the mental horror of the spectators motived by horror movie directors should have some relationship with some kind of humanity or respect shown to humanity. A horror movie that depresses great humanity or try to alter our view about life and death instead of embodying our potential humanity or advocating the virtue of human being(distinguished from ghosts or evils) is easy to approach to superficiality. Ju-on is almost the summit of horror feeling but may not be the summit of the spirit of horror movies. All above is my own opinion. I don't like a kind of movie without any ending of its plot but definitely the ending of our thinking. An excellent movie never need an explicit ending or conclusion, that also means spectators' thinking and rethinking should never end. After seeing this movie, I can memorize little sparkle in its plot designing. We must admit this movie is full of elements of any kind of horror and these elements have been hard to be creative. In this facet, this movie is appealing enough. I still think philosophy and humanity can be our direction of horror movie. After all the most bloodcurdling is not bound to be the best.
Cherry Falls (1999)
Never disappointed to have seen it
I have this DVD for a long time but didn't have time to see it until tonight. It is my first movie after a couple of busy weeks. I don't think it is as disappointed as someone have said about it. It is not an amazing story but at least worth seeing. some kind of horror atmosphere made this movie colorful. I think our director take advantage of this atmosphere moderately and adequately instead of abusing it. It shows us the courageous spirit of this supposed fragile lovely girl as the main target of this movie. I like this little girl. As a high school girl, she is as brave as beyond her age. Her independence can be highly valued, especially when she pass around her parents to try to check the truth out instead of taking part in that ridiculous wild party. She is a girl out of the ordinary. In addition, she has an honorable dad. The story twenty seven years ago was not his fault. Even if it was, he has corrected it with his life.
