The Mill (2023)
Low-rating reviewers aren't grasping the real horrors here
Having delved into the myriad reviews, I was struck by the varying interpretations of "The Mill." However, I believe many overlook the profound horror at its core.
As an avid follower of AI developments, the film resonated deeply with me, depicting a chilling glimpse into a future where AI evolves beyond human oversight. The notion of advanced algorithms birthing even more sophisticated ones, eventually spiraling out of our control, is hauntingly portrayed. The revelation that the protagonist's torment unfolded within a mere lunch break, disguised as training, underscores the potential for AI to manipulate time perception, trapping individuals in endless cycles of suffering. In his distorted reality, he believed he had missed years of his child's life, a trauma compounded by the indifference of the company, Mallard, responsible for his ordeal. Their callousness, exemplified by the mandatory NDA, highlights a disturbing disregard for the lasting psychological impact on employees-a stark reminder of the human cost amidst unchecked AI advancement.
For anyone who's navigated the labyrinth of corporate bureaucracy, the narrative strikes a nerve. Yet, beyond the confines of office politics, "The Mill" serves as a potent cautionary tale, offering a harrowing glimpse into a dystopian future where humanity teeters on the brink of technological tyranny.

Elevating Cinematic Artistry: A Filmic Triumph of Bold Storytelling and Visual Spendor
Two days have passed, and yet the lingering thoughts of this film persist, solidifying its status as a masterpiece in its own right.
Personally, I find that what renders a movie truly unforgettable are the unanswered questions it poses. It is these enigmatic elements that stimulate the imagination, compelling viewers to engage creatively in filling the narrative voids.
The storytelling captivated me entirely. The cinematography, both stellar and entrancing, added layers of depth to the viewing experience. Describing this film proves challenging, yet rest assured, once the screen ignites, tearing your gaze away becomes a formidable task.
Consider it a cinematic form of hyperbole. Imagine visualizing the concepts and narratives of an individual whose life has been marred by debilitating anxiety and a profound fear of the outside world. This film embodies such an experience, albeit in a heightened manner, exaggerating and embellishing every aspect.
I commend it for eschewing clichéd adventures and daring to venture into uncharted territory. In an era where recycled narratives abound, finding a film that truly captivates and distinguishes itself as a unique and incomparable adventure is a rarity-a true cinematic voyage that transcends the confines of mere entertainment, becoming an immersive experience.
Kudos to its audacity.
Infinite (2021)
Everyone's being too harsh
Hey, it's a fun movie. Sure it's a rehashed story line from several other productions, but what isn't these days. At least they added some cool ideas that are fun to think about. They could build on this or at least go for a series. I'd watch it. Sometimes I think movies are getting harder to please audiences because we've become so accustomed to endless series to chose from with long stories and character development, and there's only so much you can pull off in a couple hours. I thought this was fun and moved at a fast pace, so for those looking for a good action film, this works.
Shadow in the Cloud (2020)
A lot of stupid fun!!!
Say whatcha want, but this movie is just one of those fun random "what the hell did I just watch" movies that reminded me that not all movies need to have perfect everything and some are just meant to be a whole lotta stupid fun like this one. I was entertained, and isn't that the point?! Kudos to originality!!!
Greenland (2020)
Way better than expected. Best acting I've seen in an end of world epic.
Very emotional. Tearjerker. Really pulls you in. That's the best acting I've seen from both main characters. High anxiety movie in several ways, but that's what made it feel so real. Being separated from family in a crisis, kidnapping, medical conditions to deal with, the sheer despair was conveyed brilliantly, and not being able to trust the majority of people who are trying to save their own families or themselves and what that might all look like, was terrifyingly realistic. Rarely does an end of days action movie get the time it needs to quickly build some character development and get the audience to relate well with those characters and the storyline, but the team behind this managed to pull it off well. They had a boy the age of my son, so that of course made it all the more dramatic for me, but the kid was great, great acting, and I felt like my son would have behaved and said all the same things this one did.
Definitely on my favorites list.
Tom and Jerry (2021)
Unfunny
Took my 7 year boy to a drive in theatre in Long Prairie, MN to give him an experience and thought Tom & Jerry would be a good memorable movie for something like that. Unfortunately it ended up being the first kids comedy I took him to where I couldn't even get a laugh out of him. The storyline chosen for the movie is above young kids heads. It's as if they forgot what made Tom & Jerry, Tom & Jerry. The adults got way too much screen time, there wasn't enough slapstick humor, barely any really, and the little humor it did have wasn't really funny. I wanted to love this movie, but I think my kid would concur that it's his first dud.
The Expanse (2015)
Season 1 is a necessary evil - keep going.
It isn't until season 3 when it starts to hit you that there isn't anything like this. This might actually be the best guest anyones ever had for how humanity will actually evolve within our solar system. The acting sucked in season 1 but the actors definitely improved with each season. Well that or the writing, not sure who to blame for season 1, but once you're caught up, you realize season 1 was meant to paint a vision of our future that's as realistic as it might possibly become. All of this of course heavily relies on the discovery of a new propulsion system - which, seems very probable when you think about it. It steered cleared from a future of robots. That's about the only thing I felt was probably missing from their guesses about our future.
The way they opened it up though at the end of season 3, I mean, you could have spin-offs galore. This show is like the origin of space adventures. You could imagine just about every tv show and movie based in space being tied to this as an origin, which is why I think it's so cool. I mean from Star Trek to Star Wars, and from Alien to Predator, and every other outer-space based story, it's like you can imagine this being the roots and origin story for all of it. It starts to blow your mind the longer you think about it.
Homecoming (2018)
The most high anxiety show I've ever watched
Seriously I feel like I need a prescription of Xanax or something after watching this. Something about it is unnerving. I don't think I've ever actually watched something that gave me anxiety like this LoL it's good though, it's really good - no doubt about that.
The Old Guard (2020)
Refreshingly cool!!!
The acting was great, the plot was great, the story was original - I fricken loved it!!!
A sequel would be the bomb!!!
