X (2022)
Every one of these reviews was paid off, I'm sure of it
I have many issues with this film, and I will be addressing them all in bulletin points.
- The plot
- The character development
- The message
- The climax
- Clichés
- Where's the twist?
I sat this whole movie through, expecting a twist. There's always one in the horror movies these days. I picked through all the details of the film, looked at every picture in their frames, and started guessing and trying to work out how it would end. And then a twist never came. They're just some old, whack-job couple I guess? Weird. Not much motivation for their ways either, other than the old lady's jealousy.
-The resolution Umm... I'm sorry, but the old man randomly having a heart attack in the hallway and dying is the LAZIEST way I have ever seen someone die in a horror/thriller. The script writers were so obsessed with the deaths and gore, but for this guy? Nahhh, that was suddenly too much. Dies silently and peacefully in the hallway of a heart attack. And wow, the old lady dying is almost as lazy. She gets blown back by firing a rifle, which cripples (?) her and she gets her head ran over by Miss Goth.
-The whole stupid car keys part The old lady steals the car keys... only for her to easily tell Mia where there are in the home (not even hidden or ON HER where they would've been the safest from being re-claimed by the group) after she realizes her husband has died. Could've just left that whole plot device out and everything would've been the same in the story. I'm going to also add that it is very flimsy storytelling that this evil old couple a. Died so easily without a fight and b. That the lady told Mia where the keys were JUST because he died. Is she suddenly no longer afraid of going to prison? Or that this girl she wants so badly will escape?
TL;DR - This movie focuses so heavily on gore and sex that it loses all capability of telling a story or creating realistic characters.
Emma. (2020)
One of my new faves
I just love this movie so much. It is incredibly calming and the characters are well built in my opinion. Well casted, great acting, and paced just fast enough to keep your attention, while still being a longer movie.
It's a fun film with beautiful scenery and subtle humor occasionally. I also loved the way the chemistry between the leads was built.
Pass over the bad reviews. If you're a sucker for romance and enjoy looking at Anya Taylor-Joy's pretty face, you're gonna enjoy this movie.
Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020)
Yikes
This junk was so all over the place and unrealistic. It wasn't funny. The acting wasn't that great. One character SANG A HIGH NOTE to kill people that were pursuing the group. I almost left the theater. Dumb.
The Cutting Edge (1992)
I was supposed to get things done, but....
I put this movie on in the background while I wrote. Just a random selection with a good enough rating. Well, it hooked me in the first 10 minutes and I watched the whole thing straight through without writing a thing.
The acting was good, the lines weren't super cheesy, there was chemistry. Also love how our main dudes chilled for most of the movie and didnt put any moves on each other until it was the right time. The buildup to the big reveal is the best part of a romance, in my opinion. This movie played it well. Only reason it's a 9 is because it doesnt tell you if they won anything, or even show a single scene after the kiss. To me, it was a bit loose-ended. Could've taken and extra 5 minutes to wrap things up. But overall, good movie for hopeless romantics like myself. Worth a watch.
Annabelle (2014)
Absolutely disappointed and disturbed.
I have disliked a majority of movies I watch, but not badly enough that I'm urged to write a review on it. This movie, however, irked me so badly that I feel the need. Let's start off by saying that the title of this movie is 'Annabelle', correct? Yep. So where is this doll the entire movie? Nowhere. That's right, this is where the plot falls apart and everything goes downhill from there. The doll is hardly in the movie at all. She moves a total of maybe two times (excluding the 'climax' of this movie in which she is overused). I had a very hard time finishing this over-hyped example of trying too hard to be original. The beginning is too slow and it doesn't get to the point until the movie is just about over as well. By the end of the movie, I just wanted it to end and was happy that they at least hadn't killed off the bookstore owner... and then there is yet another attempt at being original and failing miserably. This lady (who, by the way, had nothing to do with any of this) plummets to her death out the apartment window and gives her soul to a demon. It was this part that enraged me the most for the mere idea of killing a good character off when there was no reason to and another ending could have been made (because the director clearly wasn't actually making Annabelle off of the true story) is barbaric and uncalled for. I am disturbed with the outcome of this movie and, quite frankly, I didn't even want to award it one star, but there was no option lower, so I will state it here.

Beautiful Creatures (2013)
Umm... I'm disgusted
So I was pretty excited to watch Beautiful Creatures. I had just finished reading the book and loved it. Within the first few minutes of the movie starting, I already noticed flaws and differences. That was a telltale sign that I would be irritated with the movie. And Ethan finds the locket after, what? One minute of the movie starting? I was like, "not cool". And then he gives it to Lena as a present and I was like, "WTF". There are so many differences that I could not even wrap my mind around it. AND THEN at the disciplinary meeting, Sarafine shows herself as being Mrs.Lincoln and COMPLETELY GIVES AWAY THE TWIST THAT THE BOOK HAD. not to mention that Ridley has short, red hair rather than long, blonde hair and no lollipop! And then she kisses Ethan when she meets him! That so did not happen in the book. I don't know what went on in the director's head but it wasn't something to be happy about. I understand that they have to shorten and cut some things out to fit into a 2 hour movie, but did they really have to change SO MUCH? I give this movie an F-, just for the fact that I couldn't handle another second of it and stormed out of there like a raging bull. Couldn't even finish the movie, it was so terrible. Maybe I should call the director up and cuss him out for making Beautiful Creatures like Twilight, which are not at all the same (one sucks, the other doesn't). This piece of (obscene word) doesn't even deserve zero stars.
