Enola Holmes 2 (2022)
Enjoyable family friendly movie
A really good, enjoyable sequel. A great original story, very well acted by all involved, well written and I enjoyed the puzzles and trying to piece it all together along with Enola and Sherlock. This Enola Holmes series would make a great Sunday afternoons family viewing, as a lover of the Sherlock Holmes books and stories this has fulfilled a desire for new adaptations and Holmes tales. The way Enola Holmes is depicted within these adaptations is brilliant and should be a source of inspiration to young women and girls everywhere, this sequel in particular I'll be showing to my almost teenage daughter. I sincerely hope a 3rd movie will happen somewhere down the line and that's not something I can say very often about movie series.
Hustle (2022)
Best Sandler film in years
Really enjoyed this movie, don't have to be a basketball fan to enjoy the story, it is a story we've seen many times before but it felt new and fresh, with good characters and excellent performances from the 2 leads.
Taxi Driver (1976)
Unpopular opinion
If I'm being completely honest I found this boring. I've just watched it for the first time and thought with the status it had I'd be wowed but I think it's overrated. Don't get me wrong De Niro is great as always but I was left bored.
Infinite (2021)
Style over substance
The idea for this is great but the execution lacked quality. I don't know who's more at fault, if it's the writers/director or someone else. Really this had the ingredients to be unbelievably good, we know the main actors have proven acting quality, the director has made some incredible films in the past so I don't know how or why this as poor as it is.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
Not like any Marvel movie so far
Visually amazing, unlike any Marvel movie I've seen so far, great action, really good new character introduction, Elizabeth Olson just WOW, Sam Raimi has made a movie you should go and see. However, I didn't love it, I felt like something was missing that meant it didn't immediately fly in to my top Marvel movies. Still definitely worth seeing though.
The Batman (2022)
Excellent take on Batman
Really great movie, definitely recommend it. I was apprehensive going in as a big Batman fan but it didn't disappoint. The acting is amazing, Gotham looks incredible and the score is brilliant.
tick, tick...BOOM! (2021)
Inspriring
I'm on a mission to watch as many films as I can in 2022 and this already I believe will be up there with the best. The songs were amazing, Andrew Garfield was incredible and the movie as a whole was inspiring, heart warming and emotional. It's motivated me to see more musicals, discover more of Lin-Manuel Mirandas work as well as Larsons, and Sondheims. Amazing movie.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017)
Awful
Just nowhere near as good as the first. Channing Tatum was pointless, the effects in the opening scene were poor. I could go on with loads of negatives, the only positive about the whole thing was every time Elton John was on screen. Number 3 has a lot to do to save this series.
Bright (2017)
Hidden gem
Having not read any reviews or seen any trailers for this movie I went in to this with an open mind. Having now watched it I can definitely recommend this film. Will Smith and Joel Edgerton are great together and the film moves along at a good pace. The action is terrific and despite being full of fantasy creatures it's done in a way that makes it all seem dark, gritty and realistic. The make up and fx teams did a great job.
