White House Down (2013)
Acting good, can't help but think of obama though....
The acting was really good on Tatum's and Foxx's parts. The plot and twists were actually pretty good. But what keeps bugging me about this film(reason why I gave it 5/10 instead of 8/10) is that the politics of the movie are a bit too real for what's currently going on in the white house, congress and in the media. I can't help but see how they are making Foxx look like Obama as this big "nice guy" who's out to protect the world and all of these "evil republicans" are forcing him into a corner.
If you like Obama then you will probably love this movie. This movie basically glorifies him in so many ways it's disgusting.
The Unborn (2009)
Not worth it
This movie was dumb, drawn out, and just flat out not scary at all. Acting wasn't that good from any character. Honestly I found myself asking throughout the movie if the only reason they made this movie was to see the main character(Casey) in a tight shirt and panties because that's the only enjoyable thing about this movie. Don't waste your time. What they basically did is took The Grudge, and the old version of The Excorsist and made one really bad movie that tried to combine the two. One bad thing about the new horror movies is that they're way too predictable and this movie is an excellent example of that. Take your money and go to a nice restaurant with your date instead of going to see this movie. Both of you will be glad you did.
Street Kings (2008)
Bad Training Day remake
I gave this film a 6/10 because there isn't anything wrong with it as far as the screenplay/acting/etc. But, for a film that said it came from the people who made Training Day, I expected it to be LIKE Training Day.....not to be an exact copy. The relationship between Reeves and Whitaker is exactly the same as Washington and Hawke. Hell, even the storyline was almost the same. But, in my honest opinion Washington is a better actor than Whitaker. Also, Training Day actually portrayed the 'feel' of the film better for this gruesome brutal street life where you better watch your back. Whereas, Street Kings was kind of like a...let's take some playful actors and make them seem bad ass type of feel to it.
I'm sorry, but Hugh Laurie as an insurance agent just DID NOT work, he's played in House too many times to be taken seriously as that role in a film. Also, Whitaker has played too many roles as the concerned father type to be really taken seriously as a bad ass crooked cop type. I'm sorry but there were just too many people playing too many roles that did not fit, it wasn't very believable and wasn't all that great. If you have never seen Training Day you may like this film, but I do believe Training Day is a much better film than this.
The Mist (2007)
Nicely done movie, atomic bomb of an ending
The only part of this movie I really felt a great deal of enjoyment out of was when Mrs Carmody got shot. That was very very satisfying. But holy crap, we go through 2 hrs of seeing Tom Jane not give up, all to see him end the movie like that? Very unbelievable. The movie itself was OK, kind of a classic movie done in a modern setting, the acting was pretty good as well. But the ending simply was horrible. Absolutely horrible. Frank Darabont had 2 good movies in his career, this was a sad attempt at a 3rd, all because of the ending. If you really want to know why it's such a horrible ending. Read the review from commodoresx64 I agree with his opinion to the fullest extent. Save your money, go watch a DVD if you get bored.
Sex Is Comedy (2002)
don't waste your money
The first users comments are very detailed for a very vague movie. Not saying that I disagree, but this summary can be written in a few sentences. To get straight to the point, this is pretty much like watching the making of a really bad amateur porno flick. There are a few funny points in the movie, but with the kind of things that happen in todays youth everyday its actually kind of lame. The main actor in the movie is a pompous jackass and both guy and girl in the film are way too modest to be in a film like this. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS MOVIE. The only reason why I gave it a 4 and not a 1 is that they used at least a somewhat attractive girl in the movie and towards the end you got to see almost full frontal nudity from the girl, thats it, thats the only thing thats worth watching it for. the end
Saw (2004)
great, a true horror movie, loved it SPOILER ALERT!!!!
First of all the guy in the first review obviously loves the slasher movies that are the same damn thing for every one that comes out(Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Texas Chainsaw Massacre) those type of movies. I hate movies like those. This is a newer horror movie that was done differently than the rest, kind of like Butterfly Effect, it was different and brilliant. I don't know what that guy was thinking with saying it was dull and repetitive, apparently he does not go out and see a lot of movies. This is a first in a new genre of horror. The story keeps you guessing until the very end, and I do mean the very end. The ending was a complete mindblow, it surprised the sh$! out of me. It would be more accurate to go off of the commercials than to go off of his review. The only thing that sucked was the fact that they edited some of it to get it down to an R rating, (originally NC-17). One other thing, if you do not like lots of blood and gore, or you get notious at the sight of blood, then do not go. There is so much blood and gore and violence in this movie that it put Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and all the famous slashers to shame. Just don't go if you don't like blood, you'll thank me for it, trust me. If you have not watched the movie stop reading at this point for the rest will spoil the movie for you, if you read on, don't complain, I warned you.
There is only 2 things I don't understand about this movie, 1st off, how did the guy with the disease get out of the hospital to go do all of these killings? Since he was the jigsaw killer. 2nd, if the jigsaw killer was in the middle of the freakin room the whole damn time, wouldn't they have seen him breathing and knew he wasn't dead. Well, I guess I thought he was dead too, real question is then, how did he breath throughout the entire movie, without being detected??????? If someone could email me if you know what I'm talking about and can help me understand this then please hit me back, thanks.
