Ren & Stimpy 'Adult Party Cartoon' (2003)
"the humor that made the old show so great is back" ... yeah, right.
It is not a stretch of the imagination to say that this show is the worst spin-off of any show i have ever seen in my life. I honestly can only review the first episode since it was so horrible i couldn't bring myself to watch a 2nd. The humor just isn't there. They attempted a few times to pull in gross-gags similar to some of the stuff they did in the first series, but they overdid it to the point it wasn't funny at all. They were eating a snot wad for lunch and living in a spitoon. It was just sick. And the topper was the ending where they screwed each other. That's just not necessary in a cartoon.
A Wrinkle in Time (2018)
Very good and thought provoking
I had been looking forward to this movie not only because the trailers made it look like it had potential, but I have also read the entire book series. Fortunately, it lives up to it's potential. Amazing acting, incredible special effects, and a screenplay and directing that doesn't leave you guessing what the plot is. There are many scenes in the movie that are just plain creepy so keep that in mind. The only reason I did not give this a 10/10 is because I had a few issues with how the father was portrayed at the end.
Make sure you know what you are getting into if you watch this. It's not for people looking for brain-dead plots. You need to have intelligence to enjoy it, and movies like this are incredibly rare to come by nowadays.
Beware the Batman (2013)
it's not the same-old same-old, and that's a good thing.
i've watched the first three episodes, and the first one was the worst of the three. Don't stop at that one. Batman is more human in this series, Alfred is more interesting, and there are apparently multi-episode plot points such as the stuff going on with the sword-wielding driver. I can't wait for episode 4. i rate episode 1 a 5. episode 2 gets a 6.5
episode 3 gets an 8. If it keeps getting better, it's going to be a real winner, and it's a welcome, darker change from the last series which was ignorant as all get out.
final say: Watch it.
Ben 10: Omniverse (2012)
It's enjoyable so far
a lot of long-time fans are being incredibly critical of this show. Let me be clear: This show is not the Ben-10 you grew up on. While it takes place in the Ben-10 universe, it's different art, mostly different aliens, and only contains Ben as the star. Having said that, the show DOES stand on its own. It may be different than the older shows but that doesn't make it worse. Granted there are a couple of episodes you will be sorry you watch, but for the most part they are pretty enjoyable, and that applies to the older series as well.
If i was to guess they are now targeting a younger audience because a lot of the moodiness and grittiness that made the last series a must-watch are gone.
