San Andreas (2015)
Rushed.
The movie from the beginning instantly grabs our attention with a sudden accident, the man who comes to the rescue is Dwayne Johnson. He does this time and time again in the movie and overall Dwaynes acting is pretty good, which the same can be said with the rest of the cast.
Another positive with the movie was the special effects watching this in the cinema, I did enjoy the special effects even more. However thats where the positives end.
What really hurt this movie was the storyline, every 10 seconds in the movie I felt there was something new happening, sometimes it was another building falling or another random civilian getting crushed by falling debris, it was always something a lot of scenes in the movie weren't even needed, and the parts that I thought were needed to give the storyline depth are rushed and the movie is thrown into another unneeded complication.
I think this movie had to much action, which in my opinion usually spoils a movie, it defiantly spoiled this movie. There is having a complication, like having to steer a boat over a massive tsunami then over complicating a scene by adding a huge carrier ship which they then have to navigate through.
Overall to sum of the movie, if you have seen 2012 then there basically the same thing except a different family and a different kind of storyline, as long as you don't go into the cinema with your expectations to high like I did, will you get what you paid for.
Ex Machina (2014)
iRobot, with a twist.
The movie starts off with a young software developer, who has won a contest, we soon discover its to test out what essentially is a robot. Right from the beginning the movie sets itself apart from a lot of sci-fi films, and is a little more different.
The reason why I like this movie, and I think its superior to other films in its genre, is because of the story line so people may think its outrageous and there are far to many plot holes. I think the opposite the storyline if you think about it, is actually really well written and makes a lot of sense.
Another really good thing about the film is the acting, you know when your really into the movie from start to finish its good.
Anyway the movie is fantastic, well worth the watch it has great acting and a superb and smart storyline, everything you ask for in a great movie.
Shaun of the Dead (2004)
Worst Movie Ever
Reading the good reviews and honestly, I don't get how its an 8? Did i completely miss the brilliant storyline with the well thought out ending?
I mean, I read a lot of reviews and normally disagree with the bad reviews and I am sure that many will probably disagree with this, but I love a good comedy movie, what i love even more is a good zombie movie. So I thought this was a no brainer.
All I can say now is wow, it was terrible I don't think I laughed or even smiled once, I think if I could i'd grab the gun and shoot myself first. I hated it because I felt like the dramatic scenes, if you have seen it, I think you spend at least 30minutes of him saying its his mum and he can't shoot his mum, I am not sure in what world these pro longed dramatic scenes are mean't to be funny but it was like a really terrible soap opera that never ended.
I don't think I can think of anything positive to say about this movie sadly, the acting by Simon Pegg I felt was fake, the lack of common sense I guess some may find funny, but I find completely stupid.
Anyway, I guess this movie was made in a time before great zombie, films like The Walking Dead, like World War Z and plenty of other movies released after this. If you are reading this, and are a fan of the zombie genre I sincerely hope you skip this movie.
5 Flights Up (2014)
Good Acting, Pointless Plot.
5 Flights up is overall a decent movie about an old couple who decide its time for a change so they place there apartment for sale.
The movie is, not bad the acting by Morgan Freeman and Diane Keaton was superb, however what missed the mark was the storyline I mean it was interesting and engaging at times, but thats about all it was, nothing changed in the movie the characters stayed the same which I find makes a movie a little boring and pointless.
If you want to see a movie with good strong acting this is it, but don't expect a complex feel good film with a plot that really makes you think because this is not it.
Into the Storm (2014)
Above Average
What can i say about into the storm, as a tornado special effects movie it was great! The start of the movie had us thrown into the film, which quickly got my attention. Throughout the film the special effects just get greater and greater, for the most part, it feels like we are in the thick of it watching the storm unfold right in front of us.
Special effects aside, the storyline was pretty good, however could of been much better. We get to know the main characters just enough to care, but not enough for it to be a great movie. The acting could of been better, however it wasn't bad for what the actors had to work with. The best acting i had seen in the movie was probably Matt Walsh who plays Pete, he plays his character superbly.
To sum it up Into the storm was a fantastic theater special effects movie, I highly recommend watching it in the cinema just because of the amazing effects and quality. However the acting and plot I think could of been better.
Crazy, Stupid, Love. (2011)
Crazy, Stupid, Love.
What can i say about Crazy, Stupid, Love except that it was Almost fantastic. The actor Steve Carol plays Cal Weaver a middle aged man, going through a tough divorce until Cal meets Jacob Palmer (Ryan Gosling) who plays a charming, mysterious, ladies man. Both roles were performed perfectly, which only helped highlight the magnificent storyline.
Throughout the movie we see it turn from a sad typical romance that you'd expect, to a surprising, great and highly laughable romance comedy, which keeps us entertained until almost the very end.
The end ruined it for me, if only the movie had ended a little sooner it would of been so much better everything up until the final ending is perfect. The ending for me turned this movie into what should of been spectacular, to mediocre at best. The ending is what you'd expect from every other romance movie you've ever watched. Which for me just ruined this movie because, I thought it was more then just your typical chick flick romance.
SPOILER! It's ruined for me when Robbie Weaver, Cals son gives his 8th grade graduation speech and says how he thinks love is a scam, and as expected Cal stands up in front of everyone gives a great big speech wins back his wife then Robbie re confesses his love (seen time and time before) for Jessica and finally wins her over. Which is such a typical mediocre chick flick ending which in my opinion just wasn't needed if they cut that part out the movie would of been perfect.
