Love it! Best Comedy I've Seen In Years!
14 November 2021
I'm not typically one who loves comedies, but this movie is hilarious! It's packed full of slapstick humor and wise cracks, and I was giggling from beginning to end. It's also a nonstop adventure ride, and I was practically on the edge of my seat all through the film.

Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gabot were outstanding, as usual. Great acting, great directing, and a great story that I look forward to watching again!

Missing too many details
13 November 2021
I would give this film a 6, but I'm bumping it up to a 7 simply because I love sci-fi and fantasy. First of all, I think that many people are giving this movie high ratings because it's one of the first major films that people are able to see in the theaters post-pandemic.

The acting was great, the cinematography was spectacular, the directing was superb, and the movie was good. But that's all it was for me; just good. My main disappointment while watching the film was that so many details were missing. There was so much that wasn't explained, and I felt like I had so many questions. For example, the hunter seekers can't see you if you stand still. This wasn't really implied in the film. Also, there was hardly any back-story on the Bene Gesserits. They're a spectacular group of mysterious women with strong powers, but we only see a couple of their talents. Many of the characters didn't have enough development. They seemed to appear and disappear throughout the film, many without explanation.

I felt that the main character was a bit young and wasn't sure of him at first, but I grew to really like him throughout the film. I realized that his age and youthful appearance will actually work perfectly as the next 2 films are released over the next several years, as we will see him age from a young man into an adult. The thing about this actor that won me over the most was when I saw his character's strong looks of determination and devotion. He's a good choice for the Duke's son, and I look forward to seeing more of that characters (and actor's) inner strengths come forth.

I'm a huge fan of Jason Mamoa, but I felt like he was too big of an actor for the role he was cast for. He's like a bright light of sunshine on a dark set, and he didn't fit with the crew. I felt that he did a great job with his role, but his big personality deserves the main spotlight in films, not a supporting actor role. (Sorry Jason - love you anyways!)

All in all, this is a good film, and I'll definitely watch it again. If you want more details about this story, I suggest you watch the original movie, plus the mini-series that was on the SyFy channel in 2000. Of course, you can also read the book.

A flawed film with flawless makeup! (LOL)
5 October 2021
There are so many stupid mistakes in this film, but the worst one was that her makeup stayed flawless throughout the entire movie, even her lipstick. There are so many prop errors, like when something looks totally different after it cuts to a different scent. Worst of all, the actress didn't fit the roll at all. Terrible choice.

Absolutely Outstanding!!!
3 October 2021
This is an incredible story told straight from the heart. The struggles and sacrifices that the main character goes through are realistically portrayed in this series. If you've ever wondered what obstacles a single parent can face when fleeing a domestic violence situation, this series can give you a broader understanding. It was so heartbreaking for me to watch, but it's worth it!

I'd also like to give a shoutout to Andie McDowell for her outstanding performance. Lady, you nailed it!!!

Mixed Feelings

Warning: Spoilers
When I started watching this series, I had no preconceptions of what it was about. I hadn't watched the trailer, and I didn't know who the director was. I was simply curious and clicked to watch it. I was immediately hooked because there was a good buildup of some of the main characters. I was curious, but I thought it was cheesy how some of the actors wore makeup to make themselves look older. Right away, it was obvious that something would happen later on in the series that would show the actors' younger selves.

Before I knew it, I got a pretty bad case of the creeps. "OK," I thought. "This is going to be great!" Things went in an odd direction, though. Too much religion was mixed into this series, and I guess I wasn't in the mood for it. The story went far too deep into religion, and the dialogues about religion went on and on. Enough already!

Overall, this series was rather predictable. I watched all of it just so that I could put an end to my suffering. I kept thinking "Please, will you please just get on with the ending of this terrible series?" Finally, it was over, and of course, it ended with a boring thud. Honestly, I felt like I wasted my time.

I will have to say that the actors were incredible, and so were the props and costumes. The setting of a small island was unique. The old-people makeup was a bit cheesy, and there were some moments when I thought it was just downright stupid.

Really Enjoyed It
12 June 2021
This was a good story and was definitely worth my time. I love apocalyptic, sci-fi stories, so I watched this as soon as it came out. I was on the edge of my seat through most of it. It's true that there's a weird religious part in the film, but it was brief and insignificant. Seriously, it's not worth mentioning. The person who complained about it was probably hoping for another Hollywood flash and bang film. I also enjoyed the film because I'm a mother and could relate to how the main character protected her children.

I was disappointed that the movie was kind of short, and there could have been more character development for some of the actors. The kids in the film were great, and so was the leading lady. If you're expecting an earth-shaking movie, then this is probably not for you. If you're hoping to just catch a good movie, then I suggest you give this a try.

Good Movie and Great Actors
17 May 2021
I've never read the book, but I really enjoyed this movie. Amy Adam's acting was phenomenal! I truly hope she wins awards for her performance. The introduction was great, and you get hooked right away. There were some unexpected surprises along the way, and some things I figured out on my own. The setting of her character's home was dark and gloomy, yet comfy. I found it to be very realistic for this story.

I think the film should have been a little longer so that we could have learned more about the other characters. When I saw that Gary Oldman, Julianne Moore, and Jennifer Jason Leigh were in the film, I thought to myself "Oh, this is going to be great!" I guess my expectations were a little too high, though. Their acting was outstanding, as usual, but they had such small parts to play. I wanted more!

All in all, this film is worth watching and getting lost in. Grab your popcorn and comfy blankets!

Laughably Stupid
7 April 2021
It started out with the promise of being a good film. They guy was super hot, which was a bonus. There were some moments that kept me on the edge of my seat...... but then the movie got cheesy. I got a few laughs out of it, but I don't want to go into details (spoilers). I appreciate the weirdness if the film, and it was refreshing that I wasn't watching another stereotypical Hollywood film with blood and gore.
