Crawlspace (2022)
Should of been labeled slapstick thriller
Words fail me, but I am cold blooded, heartless machine of a woman. Shortest review ever- grab a bag of chips and prepare to giggle for all the wrong reasons. You have seen this movie before. I am glad to see Henry Thomas in some things recently. He has grown to an appropriate aged actor who isn't half bad in roles. I think Keven Bacon says you don't have to be a big movie star, but being a good, responsible actor who like a challenge and enjoys it- that's acting. The interaction between Thomas and goons is unintentionally hilarious. The goons are straight out of central casting:: tall, skinny guy with the brains and the dumpy one who is .. dumpy. But this is movie is a fun way waste a cold Saturday afternoon!
Folklore (2018)
What folklore is supposed to do
...be unsettling. I am not an anthropologist, but wanted to be. I know that the stories people tell are for good reasons. The setting may change, but the effect is the same. Folk lore is there to explain or teach or establish a reason for doing. These episodes may all not be bone chilling terrifying, but they are all unsettling. Just the 1st episode of the first series has kidnapped children .. not unlike almost monthly if not more often. Cautionary tales, if you want..
Love, Death & Robots: Fish Night (2019)
Myth brought foward
Icarus.
I know that some young people just don't learn some things in school anymore. But even a cursory reading of Icarus would be this short beautiful episode. As the Elder teases the Younger of many things, not paying attention, etc., he still shows patience. As the night circus begins and the Younger becomes entranced, all he can see is the beauty, while the Elder, still amazed, can sense the danger coming but can do nothing to stop it.
One must be able to dream but still be able to be practical.

Good story
I have never written a review before, andI admit that lately a bunch of movies have had rather ambiguous endings that have me more pissed off than cinematically questioning. I was afraid this would be the same. But the story laid it self out nicely in opening deriguer of radio/tv end of the world pandemonium we are used to, this piling the loss of oxygen because of climate chang, and rolled out from there, gently laying it's story. Maybe I was just in the mood for it, and there was a lot of repeating scenes where you just wanted Ethan to get with it but he probably couldn't think right because ..oxygen starvation..I went with it.
It did bog a bit at the beginning of the second act and finally picked up at the end. And thank all that is holy.. an ending!!! A decent end ending!! I was so happy! I am so happy when a movie has a ending these days that isn't a clip to black or white and you are left going'um, is that it?' What if my friends haven't seen it and I can't discuss it with them? Am I cursed to a Reddit sub for company? Kody Smitt-McPhee is 25 now and is lanky. I think some movement classes from Doug Jones(Pan's Lab.,Hellboy, Shape of Water) could really help the boy come into his lankiness. It can be a positive and open up new worlds. I have not seen Dark Phoenix, but I knew he had played Nightcrawler before. He just seemed odd, again, it could have been a character choice.
I watch a ton of movies, and this little twinkle just caught my good mood.A pleasant way to spend a week night, a few curse words the over 12 would be ok with(a couple of f-bombs) but no sex and violence basically crime show level.
Discussion points:: What kind of things does your family do to help the environment? Would you make the same choices Ethan did? Why or why not? How do you interpret the ending?( Sorry, upper elementary teacher, questions happen!!)Enjoy and take time to be outside and enjoy the air! I would give it 7/10
