Megalodon (2018)
El Cheapo Shark Flick
Whoever did the technical aspects of this film was extremely careless. Madsen "the Admiral" had nothing resembling a military haircut, the ship was full of rust
a long shot showed the ship like a model in a tub of water. The shaking of the boat or so called underwater vehicle looked like, the people were rocking around on chairs, left to right, forward & backwards "shaking". It was pathetic and inane. The passion, anger, emotions were so faked it was sad
The Humbling (2014)
Al is so deep hes down a well and gone
Oy what a mess. I rented this because the little bit of info presented by Netflix sounded interesting and with Al Pacino I figured who can go wrong. As I understand other reviews, hes had some bombs recently, but I figured this cant stink because I'M watching it. Boy was I wrong. The whole thing is a big fat bore from the man who brought me Michael Corleone or Dog Day Afternoon. Al whats happened to thee? I also figured with Barry Levinson involved.it would be at least good. It has a good cast in the lesbian girl, Weist, Hedaya,Grodin accompanying Al. Nothing saves it, its pretentious windbag of a story, we have seen before. Its so deep and seminal, its NOT.
Coherence (2013)
A Pile of Lint
This is probably the worst film I ever rented Its just too seminal for me and my midget mind. I always thought "Natural Born Killers" was the worst, but this rates as bad or worse, I know both were meant to have really deep meanings, but not to me.I don't see movies for deep and "profoundity" of understanding only entertainment, history and clarity. I love science fiction, but this is was pretentious garbage. Alternate Universe, akin to a Twilight Zone episode, bah humbug, pure waste of my eyeball energy. If I could rate this a minus 10 I would. Just a bunch of verbal pseudo intellectuality. There were no actors of note. The atmospherics were abominable, the dialogue lame. In summation I recommend this picture to nobody.
Garou Garou, le passe-muraille (1951)
The Bourvil version
I saw the Bourvil version in English someplace when I was young & have never seen it since. I wonder if its available anywhere on Earth. It was funny and something about it made me remember it to this day. It was not subtitled, because I doubt as a kid I would have bothered watching it. The star "Bourvil" a French guy I have never seen since was a blundering goof-ball, who just stumbled into falling thru walls, into peoples lives & at the end I believe he lost his power. I think there was some kind of romantic involvement as well in the story, but I cant remember any details.I also think it was in the 1950s, as I had to be preteen. If anyone knows where that can be acquired, I'd love to know.
The Magic Face (1951)
A memorable World War 2 film, that I never forgot.
I saw this movie in 1951 in a theater in Brooklyn, NY with my grandmother for sure and maybe my mother. I was young, only seven years old.For some reason its always stuck in my mind. I remember Luther Adler and that it was in black and white. Something I can't pinpoint exactly was fascinating about it. Possibly it was Adler's performance, the film seemed grim and dark like the subject of World War Two. I remember him ranting and raving, like Hitler would have. Never knew Adler was related to Stella Adler the acting teacher. If it was available, I'd buy it in a minute. I wish it was. Maybe if enough of us comment on it, they would re-release it in VHS or some other form. Luther Adler was an excellent actor. I remember him as the Israeli Prime Minister in CAST A GIANT SHADOW. I also remember him in DOA with Edmond O'Brien as the bad guy,but can't remember him in DESERT FOX with James Mason, another cinema giant.
