Fumer fait tousser (2022)
Abysmal
Even though this film is on the short side, I still resent it for wasting my life.
It's a series of weird-for-the-sake-of-weird mini stories, all uninteresting and not actually funny.
Fight with a turtle thing, call to a dribbling rat, campfire, random campfire stories, back to the boring lives of the main cast, who cook a fish, back to talking more senseless rubbish, someone chokes to death, and back to the dribbling rat.
There's no intelligent insight into anything here, it's the writings of a deranged pervert let loose on society, who happens to have enough money to make terrible films.
Ah man I'm remembering it all again writing this and it's painful.
Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
So much hate in the reviews
Unlike many others, I enjoyed this series, on the whole.
I agree there were some dumb bits and I wish they'd been thought about a bit more... leaves the feeling that with some slight adjustments
The tone is set well in the first episode and ties the, frankly, awful ja ja trilogy together, bringing out it's darker side (there were some interesting bits of story in ja ja saga, episode 3 was way better than the other 2).
I have no idea why people are hating on the actors (especially THAT actresses - she was really good).
It drifts around for a few episodes after an interesting first episode and these are where I feel the writing is at its worst.
However, obi wan's arc is interesting as is his relationship with leia and Ewan does a good job throughout.
The series picks up towards the end and the last episode is definitely the best and it does a good job of portraying obi wan/ vader, tying the past and future of star wars together as well.
7/10 as the mid series episodes are quite weak but enjoyed it overall.
Masters of the Universe: Revelation (2021)
These reviews- you're joking, right?!
This is an absolutely brilliant series about bizarre superbeings with insane weapons fighting evil who have galaxy destroying levels of power.
It mixes up the old formula, gives women hulking great muscles and powers and pushes interesting new narratives into a world thats a giant sandbox of fun.
Skeletor is a badass, ripping open the fabric of the galaxy and battling between the stars to great music is brilliant.
Lots of fun. If you don't get it, I don't think you get he-man.
Godzilla vs. Kong (2021)
Great fun
I've read some reviews moaning about the plot. For me, I thought it was fine and I thought the human and titan characters were believable, which is something given this film is about a giant ape and a laser spewing lizard. Kong's connection to the humans was pulled off well and I was rooting for him and found myself respecting the bros as they did battle. I didn't want anything bad to happen to either of them so the writing worked well. The CGI and style of the film were really too notch.
Did this film blow my mind? Well, sort of, it's spectacular. Yes there was room for a more interesting story but they nailed the point about us caring about kong and zilla and for me that was enough for one film. Maybe they can make another that dives deeper into another storyline but cramming more into this would've detracted from what happened.
Honestly, what were people expecting?
