Fear Street: 1666 (2021)
Scream and Friday the 13th and The Witch....
.... But worse versions of each. It isn't worth the time to sit through this trilogy, each movie is a knock off of much better horror films.
The Oath (2018)
This aged well
I just saw this for the first time, and wow. It's a totally plausible scenario for this year. It feels a little toothless, and the characters are a little too on the nose, but it's a quality movie and has it's fair share of laughs. Definitely worth a watch.
First Reformed (2017)
Great for the first hour and fourty minutes...
I thought that was beautiful, thought provoking, and the story was extremely compelling. But.... At the end of the film, within the last minute or two, the main character simply ignores any and all lead up to his defining moment? I can understand his character was built around suffering and loneliness. What I can't get is how the ending makes sense relative to his story up until that point.
Glass (2019)
Am I missing something?
Didn't like it. It isn't the worst movie, but for following Unbreakable and Split, I really felt like this was the worst in this series by a long shot. So many great things about the movies are kind of thrown together and mashed up. M night Shyamalan movies are usually a little off-tempo to add that sense of "wow" at the end, but here, it felt like every turn was wrong and the resolution was super weak. I left with more questions than answers for this one.
The Shape of Water (2017)
What did I just watch.
I don't like reviews a whole lot for movies because like, to each their own, and everyone's going to like different things. However, even with that being said, how did that movie win any awards let alone gain all this acclaim? It was weak, hard to gain any traction, and was frankly boring and poorly thrown together. I hated it. Terrible explanation of why there's a human-fish? They really throw that on everyone, and expect us to just go with the flow and take it along with the rest of this total abomination? I hope I never have to watch it again, I don't think I could stomach it. Do yourself a favor if you're thinking about watching it: just don't do it.
