The Ark (2023)
Overall a decent story line
I really like the show, however episode 7 is a bit of a head scratcher. They said that their destination is Proxima B. That is the closest exoplanet that is in the closest star system to our own at 4.3 light years away. In episode 7 due to mechanical issues they need to slingshot around a quasar. Well there aren't any between us and Proxima Centauri, because Proxima Centauri is the closest star to our Sun. So that's a bit confusing.
But other than that oversight the series seems to be pretty solid. I really enjoy watching it and I can't wait for the next episode to be released.
I highly recommend this series if you are a Sci Fi nut like myself.
War of the Worlds (2019)
I like the show
Personally I think the show is great. My only real complaint is having to read subtitles. So annoying. Pick a language and stick with it.
All these people complaining about how slow it is. Honestly it flows with about the same pace as the walking dead and I never hear anyone complain about the pace of that show.
I Spit on Your Grave (2010)
Best movie I've seen in a long time.
I don't give out too many 10 out of 10's. But for this movie it is a 10 all day.
I started watching this movie, because I wanted to watch "I spit on your grave 3" So I binge watched all three movies back to back to back. I knew nothing about the franchise. Never even seen a trailer for any of the movies. So I had no idea what they were about. I thought for sure it was just going to be another low budget horror movie that I'm so used to watching. But I was oh so wrong.
This movie kept me on the edge of my seat for the entire movie. Just trying to anticipate what would happen next.
The rape scene in my opinion was a little too realistic for my taste as it was extremely hard to watch. But I guess that's what made the movie so good. The acting was just stellar on all fronts.
Like I said earlier, I had no idea what this movie was even about. I had no idea she was to survive the ordeal. And then to see her get even with the rapists. And how she got even was something out of nightmares.
After borrowing the movie from a friend to watch it. I went out and bought the movie to support the people that made it. I may never watch it again, but I felt they earned that money.
I Spit on Your Grave 2 (2013)
Decent Movie
Me personally I liked the movie. I do not think it was as good as the first movie, but it was miles better than the third movie. I was going to try and give an honest review without spoilers, but I just don't think I can.
Most of the abuse in the movie was very believable, good acting all the way around. The problem I had was how she escaped death. It's just not believable at all. Unlike the first movie. Every part of that movie had me glued to the TV trying to figure out what was going to happen next.
This one though, while it kept you entertained. I just feel the torture scenes were just bleh. It seemed to me that they wanted to try and out do the first movie in the torture department, but it fell short. It fell way short. It was just too..... I don't really know how to put it into words. It was torture to torture. Unlike the first movie where it was still torture, but the bad guys were technically torturing themselves. Or I guess a better way to explain is that they were torture traps. This movie though it was just her torturing them to death.
I'm sorry, while I really enjoyed the movie. I just think if fell a little short. But it's a sequel. You kind of expect it.
By the Sea (2015)
2 hours of my life I can't get back
I'm not going to bore you with a giant wall of text like others have done. I'm just going to give it to you like I see it. The movie was terrible. There is just no other way to explain it. It starts out boring with horrible acting, and just goes downhill from there.
Save your money and definitely do not buy this movie. I honestly would not spend the buck to red box it either. I'm thankful I didn't have to pay anything to see this giant heap of garbage. Sorry to be so blunt, but the movie is just terrible. I guess if you want to look for the good in the movie Angelina Jolie does soak in a tub if you're into that sort of thing.
Area 51 (2015)
Yet another boring found footage movie
When will these movie makers realize that the current format for found footage movies are just downright terrible. They all follow the same format. 60 minutes of extreme boredom, then there is fifteen minutes of planning a trip, ten minutes of lets do something incredibly stupid, and then if, just if they show you what is attacking/chasing it is a millisecond of a glimpse.
Just one rhetorical question though. Why is it every single alien movie that is made anymore is always found footage? Have writers lost their creativity and can't actually write a good blockbuster alien movie?
One last note. Found Footage movies would be a million times better if they would show you what the creatures look like. And not just a glimpse.
Into the Storm (2014)
Loved this movie
I may be a little biased since I am a disaster movie junkie. I live for Saturday disaster movie marathons on Syfy.
But anyway back to the relevant parts of the review. For those filmmakers out there looking to make a found footage'esq type movie. This is the way you do it. I know technically this wasn't a found footage movie, it was more of a blog/documentary movie. But it had the feel of a found footage movie.
The movie didn't bore me like most of these types of movies do. The Special Effects were top notch.
The acting could have been a little better. But did not take away from the flow of the movie. In some movies the acting can be so distracting that the movie is unwatchable. That wasn't the case in this move.
Lastly I have to say (without spoiling anything) The comedic relief in the movie was awesome. Had me splitting a gut in every scene they were in.
Edit: After reading some of the other reviews, I see people being harsh on the acting and camera work. I believe what they are failing to realize is this is not supposed to be a major motion picture type of movie. Like I said earlier it is supposed to be a documentary/VLOG type of movie. So the camera work is supposed to be shaky and the acting is supposed to be subpar.
Alien Origin (2012)
Yeah you guessed it
Just read every other comment and you will know what I think of the film.
The one thing that upset me the most with this movie wasn't how bad the plot was, it wasn't how bad the acting was. It was the fact they never showed the stupid aliens.
If I hadn't watched this movie on Netflix I would be pulling a South Park and banging on the producers door demanding my money back.
I guess since I need more lines I will keep talking. The ending of the movie was pretty bad as well. Lets everyone just shoot blindly at nothing and waste all of our ammo while we all get slaughtered. Yeah that about sums it up.
