Un duel à mort (1947)
Buster's comic timing is still impeccable.
Buster grappling with his fishing gear in the opening sequence is very funny. Not so much the duel, although it too has some big laughs. A pity someone though it necessary to "sell" the gags with sound effects. Still, it's Buster's show, and he is the best.
You can find it as a bonus extra on Kino's 2019 Blu-ray of Our Hospitality.
Emma Fielding Mysteries: Site Unseen (2017)
Faux-Indiana Jones at a snail's pace
Emma hasn't a brain in her body, making a neverending series of logistical mistakes and exhibiting good old-fashioned Maine stupidity. The dramatic tension is of the slackwire variety and the pacing has all the visceral excitement of a soap opera. Not even worthy of a "meh".
John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (2019)
A song and dance celebration
Saw John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum opening night. Boy, I was NOT expecting a musical. But it worked, in a crazy killing major bodycount way. Highlights for me were the big shootout dance number, kinda like the rival gangs in Michael Jackson's "Bad" and, of course, the torchy ballad by the principals, "The High Table." Recommended.
