I Love You, Man (2009)
The Normal Hollywood Dross
This film is not funny at all, the acting is poor, the clichés piled on by the bucketful, pure Hollywood dross. I cannot understand why films like this get financed and promoted whilst other far more worthy films get overlooked. Paul Rudd is a poor actor, his character Peter Klaven is the typical Hollywood creation, of a man who is inept but somehow has an attractive woman on his arm etc. The film is uncomfortable to watch because it is so bad and it has absolutely no redeeming moments or scenes. I recommend you stay well clear of this film and find a proper comedy, preferably one which is not made in America, where the sense of humour is questionable at best.
Ghost Town (2008)
One Of The Worst Movies Ever Made
This movie is bad, really bad. Ricky Gervais plays the same part he plays in everything, the stupid, bumbling, slightly racist totally useless person, shame, as he can actually write good comedy he just can't do any parts other than those which include the traits already mentioned. The film is not only terrible, it is completely devoid of humour, I didn't laugh once during this predictable piece of Hollywood rubbish. Don't waste anytime on this movie, it follows the same plot as 99% of all other Hollywood films and fails to deliver on so many levels. I had hopes that I might crack a smile, but no, I was left wanting my 102mins back. The character change from 'I'm not interested in anyone' to 'I'm going to help all these people' in the matter of a few seconds, was totally unbelievable, the depiction of ghosts all too familiar. I was sickened and saddened throughout, and fail to understand why movies like this get any funding whatsoever.
