Stadium Anthems (2018)
Satire at it Best
I do not know a lot about the music industry, its characters and players or why fun should be poked at it and them but clearly, the writer and director of Stadium Anthems, Scott Douglass Brown, does. And in this courageous and fun loving film, poke fun he does - with a vengeance! The film is billed as a "mockumentary: which gives it the freedom to layer and interject a range of devices: staged interviews, prophetic quotes and all kinds of side comment in the form of cut-aways of surprising images. These techniques, along with a very well thought out script and story board provide a raucous, over the top, comical romp and biting indictment of an imagined world of rock music industry executives, record label musicians and forever "wanna bes." The acting was truly superb. The camera work and lighting were too. The result is lively, entertaining, clever and daring. It is satire at its best and it will rock your rock and roll world.
Slapped! The Movie (2018)
A Wild Romp of a Movie
This film is ambitious and well made, albeit a little long. The characters are interesting and well played and the film making is done well. A hugely energetic undertaking combining comedy and fantasy and most appropriate for the 20-30 something set.
Craig Quits His Day Job (2016)
Quite Unusual
For some reason, the title and brief description caused me to assume that this might be a slapstick comedy, It wasn't that.Neither was it knee slappingly funny.Instead, it was funny in an earnest, charming and unexpected . The guy who quits his job doesn't know what he is in for and neither do we. What we soon find out is all the ways that life and living are full of surprises for those of us who actually spend our days working. We don't have a clue about what we are missing out on. For Craig, it is all inclusive: the good, the bad and the ugly and that is what makes this film unusual and fresh,. There is nothing run of the mill about it and I like that a lot! I apoplaud the filmmakers for holding on to their vision and giving us a little spice of life.

Food As Medicine (2016)
Food is not the enemy
Food is your friend. What I found interesting about this film, and different from others I have seen which focus on the results of unhealthy eating, is that it is not prescriptive. It doesn't give you a specific plan for how to change eating habits, or specifically what to eat, as in a particular diet. Rather, it suggests that we can all can be on a journey to better and more healthy eating by simply shifting the food groups that we eat and "listening" to how our bodies respond. It other words, not an easy fix but a commitment to a life long shift away from fatty, sugary and salty foods to whole foods, fruits, vegetables and grains. The balance may be different for different people depending on the condition they may be trying to heal or address. The film acknowledges that it takes effort, conscious awareness and certainly, the desire to improve one's health. The only meat that was discussed was liver, and I would have liked to hear more about that since a long time ago, I came to understand that liver and other organ meats were high in cholesterol and to be avoided. The film provides the voice of professionals and everyday folks alike.
