Extraordinary
5 September 2023
I can't understand the predominantly negative assessment of this series. The dramaturgy is not only comprehensible, it is also very convincing. People are suddenly and unexpectedly drawn into a situation of terror that has nothing to do with them. The reactions in such terrible situations are convincingly portrayed - in all their tragedy. The series avoids turgid, emotionally overcandid portrayals, but always remains - despite all the extensive drama - on a comprehensible level. Not only Keeley Hawes - whom I really appreciate, not only in "Bodyguard" - but also all the other actors succeed in convincingly portraying the traumatic situation of a terrorist attack. The series shows how differently people react in such a situation: just as convincingly! The first three parts of the four-parter show 1:1, so to speak, how the first half to three quarters of an hour goes for the people in the resort. Convincingly portrayed - I can only say. The anti-terrorist unit - as it is announced in the first part of the series - needs 30 minutes to get to the scene of the crime. This time does not fly by. The film manages to portray these 30 minutes in a brilliant time of three times 45 minutes (!) - that is, the first three parts - from different perspectives of those involved. That's great, at least not boring.

I'm really annoyed
21 July 2023
To be honest, I am slightly appalled. Everything is pretended here: A mystery series that ultimately leaves everything open or, in a chaotic script, doesn't know where it stands at the end. The only mystery here is how such a script could be written. People who remain silent about what happened on the ship - and at the end viewers who know (almost) just as little. What is one supposed to do with that? Add to that the annoying music that sometimes almost drowns out even the dialogue, the permanent evocation of the psychological consequences of the disaster and the absolute necessity of silence about what had happened on board - and that actually happens over and over again in each of the individual episodes. Who doesn't find this annoying in the long run? 12 episodes that could have found room in a maximum of three, because everything keeps repeating and repeating and repeating ... No, I'm really annoyed.

The worst "Tatort" of 2022
17 October 2022
A psychologist - practitioner of the so-called psycholysis - treats his patients with drugs to solve their problems. The film begins with all six of his patients dying because they have been poisoned. Only Dr. Goser, the therapist, survives and is arrested by the two commissioners as the only suspect at first.

So far, so good. What follows, however, has little to do with a crime thriller. The rest of the film - except for the short ending - comes across as if the scenes with Johnny Depp in "From Hell" in the drug hell had been expanded into a feature film - peppered with arbitrary quotes from Rilke and an inclusion of films with Schwarzenegger in a psychotherapeutic treatment that only produces head-shaking.

But not enough of that: Especially the character of Dr. Goser is portrayed in such a clichéd, striking and exaggerated way by Martin Wuttke that a reasonably sensible person, even with psychological problems, would rather flee from him than accept his help. The two commissioners, played by Margarita Broich and Wolfram Koch, whom I otherwise like very much, degenerate into extras of a bad, artificial script that leaves nothing to be desired in terms of unimaginativeness.

For me, the worst "Tatort" of this year so far, which was blessed with only a few good episodes anyway.

Boring and superficial
20 September 2022
In Claude Chabrol's "Just Before Nightfall" (1971), a married man kills his masochistically inclined lover in a fit of disgust and is plagued by pangs of conscience afterwards, while his wife and friends, to whom he confesses the crime, express understanding and want to keep him from confessing the crime to the police at all costs. Chabrol convincingly shows the hypocrisy of the bourgeoisie, which is willing to do anything to cover up even such crimes.

In "The Murderer in Me," a wealthy man kills a homeless man by not helping the victim, but instead committing a hit-and-run. Doubts plague him, too, while his wife does everything she can to keep him from confessing to the crime.

A similar constellation. But the difference is that while Chabrol shows the characters in their distress, but also in their willingness to cover up, and puts a lot of emphasis on character drawing, this "Tatort" remains superficial in every respect. The characters are simply not believable. The plot unwinds predictably in the eyes of the viewer. The actors often appear in their performance as if they were casually participating in the film, while they actually had better things to do. This produces boredom and no suspense.

A script full of clichés
11 September 2022
I like Anna Pieri Zuercher and Carol Schuler in the roles of the two commissioners who have to solve the murder of a young lawyer. But that's about it. The plot is well known (a pharmaceutical company as a criminal organization wants to bring a life-threatening drug to the market and is willing to do anything for it. - Plus a noble law firm - also a criminal organization). But even worse is the flat characterization. One cliché figure chases the other. And on top of that, it's not even staged in an exciting way. When a dramaturgically superfluous second murder is inserted into the plot, which only serves to advance the plot, the plot is finally at an end.

Good thriller despite some weaknesses
11 September 2022
A German police officer helps Portuguese colleagues solve a murder. Inspector Lost is Asperger's autistic, which does not make cooperation with the new colleagues easy at first. However, his photographic memory and some other skills make him very useful. Unfortunately, in both parts of the film the emphasis is put a bit too much on this autism in my eyes, which hurts the plot, which is not overly exciting. On the other hand, Jan Krauter shines in the role of the autistic commissioner.

The other actors also contribute to a sometimes moderate, but mostly acceptable level of suspense.

Probably, the thriller could have been staged more excitingly in half the time. Nevertheless, seven points.

Another bad script for a "Tatort" movie
4 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
At first, the initial situation seems exciting. A soldier (Götz Otto) is arrested for the murder of a woman he doesn't even seem to know. Later, this soldier's superior is kidnapped: By the ex-husband of the first victim. A constellation already familiar from Patricia Highsmith's "Strangers on a Train" - albeit under different circumstances. What follows can hardly be surpassed in triviality. One of the two female inspectors (Ulrike Folkerts) completely backs away from the artificially played male arrogance of the arrested soldier in equally artificially played desperation. One stereotype alternates with the next. A young lawyer appears more as an appendage to this baseless story. It all ends in a not very believable and chaotic rescue operation. Pure chaos.

Another bad script
26 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Another incredibly bad script. A commissioner wants - without a trace of initial suspicion - to expose a former swindler as a murderer, although the case has already been dropped. This suspicion is thrust upon you in such a way that it's clear: he didn't do it. Then the prosecutor's daughter also knows the ex-thief's son, who kidnaps her to get the victim's money. The script is full of such artificial constructions. It's not fun and it's annoying. The fact that the father not only has an affair with the 30-year-old girlfriend of the murdered woman is acceptable. However, the fact that he was also the murdered woman's sex slave in order to earn a little extra money makes the story completely implausible.

Not recommendable
14 June 2022
An interesting topic, but boringly staged. The gain in knowledge is zero. Unfortunately, another bad film in the series. The script is superficial and so are the characters. It's a pity, because the subject would have given more.

The story is lengthy and makes it abundantly clear how it is determined by the end of the film. Once again a thriller that serves an overly simplistic psychology.

Not convincing
28 March 2022
The idea of this film - a hostage-taker on a ship who wants redemption - is not new. But something could have been made of it. The chance was missed. One is confronted with characters who act rather stupidly than believably. The often whiny mood and the overused atmosphere of all-round understanding soon get on your nerves. Not a really well thought-out script that is presented to you.

Boring
8 January 2022
The film wants to be a political thriller with exciting twists and turns. Some even compare it to Costa Gavras' "Z" or other classics of the political thriller of the 60s and 70s. I can't relate to that. The sometimes quick cuts, sometimes drawn out scenes that don't add anything in terms of content are complemented by shapeless style and sometimes annoying music. Two hours of boredom. That's as good as anything. The actual story is thin and drags on endlessly for almost two hours.

What a stupid story
27 December 2021
What a contrived story. The characters have absolutely nothing to do with the reality of life. The story is so contrived that you can only shake your head. And Udo Lindenberg can't save the day.
