The Last Kingdom (2015)
A Saga of Epic Proportions
The Last Kingdom is a tv series that is based on the books by Bernard Cornwell. The Last Kingdom follows Uhtred son of Uhtred and his adventures through England during the 9th century. Uhtred faces off against many brutal and scheming opponents throughout the show, each of which captivating your attention. One thing I like about this show in particular, is that any character can and will die in a Game of Thrones type way, this means that whenever the characters are in a dire situation you are left on the edge of your seat as you wonder whether the showrunners would kill off a character like that.
Dune: Part Two (2024)
I would give an 11/10 if I could
This is a cinematic masterpiece. Each shot feels immersive and really places you on Arrakis. Each of the planets featured each have their own colour palettes which really brings each one to life and also shows the stark contrast between the planets. Accompanied by the amazing score by Hans Zimmer, this was already set up to be an amazing movie. The acting is top notch especially by Austin Butler as Feyd-Rautha who really sells the character as a malicious psychopath. There is plenty of practical shots and CGI, but the CGI is extremely subtle, and it does not feel AT ALL like a Marvel movie. The sand worms look INCREDIBLY realistic, and the aesthetics of each faction shown really fits them, the black and white Harkonnens and the desert coloured Fremen, the elusive and mystical Bene Gesserit and the silvers and whites of Emperor Padishah. There was not a point in this almost 3-hour movie where I felt bored, each scene felt essential and the story and immersion of Arrakis really made you feel engrossed in this cinematic masterpiece.
S.W.A.T. (2017)
S.W.A.T. Just Goofy Fun
This show is one of my all-time favourites to watch. I'll sit down with a cup of tea and relax while Shemar Moore and co. Take care of some bizarre situation that would likely not happen (or not even involve S. W. A. T. in the first place). The reason I watch this show is for the action of the main plot of each episode, not the boring side plots of characters overcoming childhood beef with another character. If you are expecting this to be an action packed tv-show, then that's what you get (most of the time) just remember, occasionally an episode will feature drug dealers who hide cocaine in avocados.
Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011)
Extremely Enjoyable
I am going to cut right to the chase. Kung Fu Panda has a better villain than over half of the movies that Hollywood coughs up these days. Lord Shen is evil, compelling and downright entertaining to watch. With Jack Black adding his Jack Black energy to the movie, despite only his voice being present, this movie becomes even more of an entertaining watch for the entire family. Though this movie has dark elements and moments, it adds to the story that is accompanied by the beautiful visuals we have come to know and expect from Dreamworks. Kung Fu Panda 2 is an entertaining piece of film perfect for family movie night. In short, better than all modern Disney.
Battle at Big Rock (2019)
Worth a Watch
As someone who enjoys the Jurassic Franchise (Despite some of the garbage it has churned out recently) I can say that this short film was actually of good quality. This is especially good due to it being easily accessible. You don't have to own a random streaming service or pay around $8 for it, instead it is readily available on youtube. If you like the Jurassic World movies, this 10 minute short is well worth a watch. It has many cliches and the post credits are amusing (Though reused in Jurassic World Dominion) as it shows what life is like with these prehistoric creatures in our world. Something Jurassic World Dominion fails to do.
