Palm Royale (2024)
Should be a 2 hour film not a 10 hour show
Sadly I wanted to really enjoy this. I love the staging, cinematography, music the styling I loved all of that but unfortunately it fell flat with the storyline. 100% a style over substance project. Great casting, brilliant actors in the show but unfortunately let down by poor scripting and a storyline dragged out full of potholes. Norma being compass mentis throughout the whole story but can't speak yet no one offers a piece of paper and a pencil to write down what she's thinking was absurd from the word go. I wish they could've just ended it at the end of season and not dragged it out as I won't be watching anymore. A 3 out of 10 was very generous.
House of Sims (2023)
The UK hate this fake, repulsive, talentless family
The Sims are not UK royalty, they are hated. They are the most talentless people on TV. Famous for being on TV and for nothing else. They are fake inside and out. Have nothing to show for their fame. Chloe is a terrible role model to young girls, she's just repulsive and having an onlyfans speaks for itself. How shamed her family must be deep down inside. All the sisters are just as plastic inside as outside. They have all had way too much plastic surgery and look horrendous now but only worse in time. This show stands for everything that's bad with TV. Trash, trash, trash. Repulsive family, repulsive people.
Dark (2017)
Best show internationally for years!!!
What an incredible show. The scientific mind behind the genius of this show is elevated by the incredible storytelling...which is also elevated by the Stella acting. This show 'tick tocks' ALL the boxes. When it comes to foreign shows, I enjoyed 'Squid Game' but that show doesn't come close to the artistry of DARK. I just wish I had more friends to talk about this show with. Please watch the show with original dialog and with subtitles. How the director intended this show to be, is how it should be viewed. Any other option will lack what the original offers. I'm watching 'Babylon Berlin' now; but DARK is going to be hard to beat. Keep the lights off if the DARK is this good!
Instant Dream Home (2022)
Worst Hosting on TV
Thus is a nice show and there is a lot of creative input. However this is seriously let down by the terrible hosting. The main Host Danielle is beyond cringy and fake. All she does is be constantly overbearing and overly annoyingly loud. How did she get this job? It makes no sense to me. She's adds noting but irritation to the show. Drop her as a host and you will get a far better reaction from the viewers. The designers are clearly actors and not creative problem at all. It is quite insulting to the viewers. There is always an over dramatic accident, using over the top dramatic music, I didn't understand who the audience is for this. The main change to save this show is drop the cringe host. She is talentless and hideously annoying.
Strictly Ballroom (1992)
A Timeless, Endless Triumph!
I loved this movie when I was 12 years old the year it was released. It gave me everything during my teen years. Laughs, Cries, Dance, Love. 31 years on and it's now 2023 and I'm 42...and I honestly couldn't love this movie more than I do today. It's the classic rags to riches style story with a lot of laughs thrown in. The Aussie dry humour is perfectly matched with my British dry humour. The soundtrack is rammed with classic after classic. This movie will lift you up out of any slump you might be feeling. If you haven't seen this movie 'WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING ALL YOUR LIFE BEFORE THIS?' Lol.
A timeless classic with a pinch of 'Tina' Sparkle xx.
Somewhere in Time (1980)
Spellbinding. A beautiful Film.
I'm a 42 regular guy. I wanted this in 2022 for the first time. I absolutely loved it from start to end. The pacing was calm and intriguing. The score throughout is engrossing and beautiful. Jane is captivating at every angle. Christopher is charming in an awkward but endearing way. This is a must see movie for the romantic at heart.
The Land Before Time (1988)
Beautiful Animation, Beautiful Music
Storytelling at it's rawest and most beautiful. A stunning movie I saw in the cinema when I was 8 years old. It was an amazing moment for me at that age. All Dogs Go To Heaven and An American Tail were always my favourites. Don Bluth forever in my heart.
Annie (2014)
Just stick to the original story/character
So disappointed beyond belief. Just awful. Terrible acting and too far removed from the original story. Zero respect to the author. Don't waste your time watching this trash.
Single All the Way (2021)
I'm Gay, this is trash!
A movie for gay people, over acted by overly camp fake characters. I find this sort of thing so cliche. Just boring, predictable trash. Somebody make a gay movie where the characters aren't a bunch a bitchy queens. Urgh.... NEXT!!!!
Arcane: League of Legends (2021)
Unbelievably Good!!!!
This is without question the best animated TV series I have ever watched. From start to finish I was hooked. The character arcs were full and complex. The animation is a visual treat for the eyes on every single frame. I can't wait to watch it all again. TV has never looked so good.
Camping (2016)
Awkward comedy gold
Loved this show. All the characters are just brilliant and played perfectly by a stellar cast. It's all about the build up to that final episode. Laughed out loud so many times.
Malignant (2021)
Edward Mordrake would turn in his grave
Started off with so much promise. Tension, atmosphere and intrigue. Unfortunately ruined by poor storyline, showing toooooo much. If you want to get a chill, read the true story of Edward Mordrake. This doesn't come close to his legacy.
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021)
Best film of the franchise
I wasn't sure about this film at the beginning. Then as it unfolded I was hooked. The storyline was great as we're the characters and acting. I'd definitely recommend this film over the previous two.
Escape the Night (2016)
Just Dreadful
Acting is atrocious. It's one tacky cringe moment after another. It'll insulting to the viewer. Plus I can't watch anything that includes disgusting people like Gabby Hanna.
Instant Influencer with James Charles (2020)
Absolute Predatory Trash
This is a prime example of why you shouldn't let your children what this sort of TV. This will only create a new generation of self obsessed idiots. It sickens me that this sort of TV is being viewed by minors and their parents have no idea. The fact that the main host has been caught and admitted sending nude photos to minors says enough. Just gross that YouTube even green lit this trash. Avoid.
Instant Hotel: Round 1: Brent & Leroy (2017)
What pompous idiots
Garden was a delight but the inside decor of the house was as ugly as their characters. Leroy, what a Pompous idiot. Thinks he has style abs taste. What a complete joke of a person.
Blithe Spirit (2020)
Abysmal, Painful, Boring, NOT FUNNY
Terrible version of a wonderful classic. I couldn't wait for it to end. SKY again fail epically.
Four Kids and It (2020)
Sky have failed AGAIN!
Zero charm, terrible acting, terrible casting. Sky originals just get worse and worse. Don't get me started on 'Blithe Spirit' and 'Twist'. If you see 'Sky Original' it basically means 'avoid'. Just awful
Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar (2021)
Romy & Michele meets Austin Powers = Comedy Gold
A really well written fast past comedy. Farcical in all the best ways. Camp classic. Romy & Michele meets Austin Powers = Comedy Gold
FIVE STARS
El camino de Xico (2020)
Childish and flawed plot = waste of time
Dreadful from start to finish. Hideously boring and childish. Even too childish for a 4 year old. A hideous waste of money and time.
A Wrinkle in Time (2018)
Worst Movie Ever
So bad it's bad (not good). It's literally the WORST movie ever made.
25 Siblings and Me (2020)
An outsider living on the inside, but what a guy!
I wasn't expecting this to be so emotional. Oil is a very brave guy. I see how the language that is so common and trendy in the UK can come across so strong and abusive in other cultures. It is a shame he was shut down and told to be quiet and treated as if he was being disrespectful when he was just being himself. Waking hand in hand with a boyfriend in many countries he would be seen as being disrespectful. It's a shame that he's being asked to conform to a the majority. Oli continue to be you and don't let such comments hold you back in life. If your siblings could for a second understand what hold backs you have they would seriously think twice trying to hold you back further. It's extremely clear you are a very kind, genuine guy. You're biological Father was wrong speak to you the way he did, perhaps it's a blessing in disguise he didn't raise you as you would be half the person today that you truly are.
The Boys in the Band (2020)
Constant cliques, not a true depiction of Gay men.
I appreciate this is a play and was written in the 70's. But that doesn't mean it is in any way authentic to true life. The acting in this was terrible as was the script. I can see that in the 70's this would've been a tabo play. This just fell completely flat, I couldn't wait for it to end and considered turning it off about 10 times. Being a gay man myself I just find this is a terrible portrayal of gay men and how people actual behave. The notion that ANYONE would partake in such a weird/sick game as calling ex's is just absurd and no one would partake in real life as there was zero gain only loss involved. Just a terrible film that takes a huge back step in the LGBTQ movement.
The Witches (2020)
Why even bother
Total tripe from start to finish. The only one good thing about this movie is Anne. The CGI is shockingly bad and cartoonish. A British story set in Britain that's been Americanised and therefore completely ruined. Hideous doesn't even come close to describe this movie.
The One and Only Ivan (2020)
Misses teaching an important lesson
Not sure what I think of this. It's a sweet film with a lot of charm. But I didn't feel the message that animals shouldn't be in captivity was strong enough. Too many of the animals were perceived to be very happy in this circus. It's based on a true story of a Silverback Gorilla that was in an American shopping mall circus through the 80's and 90's that learnt to paint (through sheer boredom most likely) but I felt there was too much acceptance of where they were and not enough understanding why they were there $$$$$ (spoiler alert) the happy ending I'm sure you already can predict (as I did) was being free at the end...but is being free really not being in the wild but a sanctuary because humans destroyed your life and ability to be a gorilla in the wild. I was pleased he wasn't in the circus performing but it was a sad upsetting ending for me. Wasn't a happy story for me. I think many others will see it differently. It worries me that some children will think animals are happy in cages for a while and then should be free, than that animals should never be in cages or taken away from their families and natural habitats as infants. I know it's a Disney film, and the shocking reality of how these animals are stolen from the wild is very upsetting. But it is a reality. And I don't feel this film supported that enough.
