Renfield (2023)
Original, fun and wild.
It's refreshing to see something new, crazy and completely unapologetic these days. Everyone in this movie shines, Nicholas Hoult shined, it was great to see Cage doing what he does best, just go nuts with a character and he seemed to have fun doing so, Awkwafina was maintained a great balance between being corky and dramatic at the same time. The story is fun, a blend of that good old classic Bram Stoker's Dracula but in today's world adapting to it with the wrong crowd.
I loved everything about it, most of all its freshness.
Don't take it seriously, just enjoy the ride, you'll love it too.
Im Westen nichts Neues (2022)
Netflix, you've got a winner.
This movie is thoughtful, dark, honest, impactful, a rare breeze of fresh air. Felix Kammerer's performance is worthy of an Academy Award for best actor hands down, didn't know him before watching this movie, now I'll look forward to watch his next role.
This is such a pleasant surprise for me, this is what movies are all about, a great story, amazing performances, beautiful photography, it all worked for me.
In a market that is oversaturated with superheroes, sterile comedies, weak dramas and political agendas from all sides, All Quiet on The Western Front came with a simple message, war is the meat grinder where innocence and life are lost forever.
A must see. The best movie of the year.
Werewolf by Night (2022)
This world has gone insane.
No need to spoil this at all, it did it all by itself.
I have no idea what has happened to this world, this getting over a 7.0 rating is unfathomable to me.
Marvel has managed to completely remove people's brains.
This show is a cheap knock off of old horror classics, expendable characters, cheap laughs, weak FX, the werewolf looked like a hairy piglet, filming in black and white to cover gore is laughable and so Disneyish.
If this was supposed to be an homage to old horror classics I think it's yet another fail, it looked more like mockery or caricaturesque.
All this hype for something so mediocre surely makes me nervous about humanity's future.
Whatever happened to original stories? Good, solid stories? Good movie making? Is it extinct? Perhaps.
I feel so sad for us Homo Sapiens.
The Aeronauts (2019)
When based on a true story... isn't
We live in a very peculiar time in human history, where reality, history and truth itself seems to be completely open to personal interpretation and always based on a very personal set of beliefs no matter how misguided they might be.
This movie is exactly what's wrong with our current society, changing history itself just to fit present narratives.
It's a dangerous path to take, it's extreme and it will create conflicts. Truth will always be true and selling lies as truths will only make you a coward. The world wasn't built by cowards, it was built by people who searched for the truth even at the cost of their own lives.
The real story of James Glaisher was a fascinating one, risking his life along with his friend and fellow scientist Henry Coxwell who for some reason wasn't even mentioned in this movie. We owe both men a debt of gratitude as their invaluable research paved the way to weather forecasting, something we all take for granted these days.
It's an insulting movie for real history buffs who are grossly misled by a "based on true events" tagline. Soon children will learn fantasy at schools, maybe George Washington will be sold as a woman, Georgette perhaps? She will also be African American and a lesbian... just to please the crowds.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
This isn't Tolkien's Magical Universe.
This looks like a big budget series but they forgot to tell a story. Tolkien's world was magical, it took you on a rollercoaster ride filled with intrigue, amazing characters, different species, magic, complex heroes and villains.
This show disrespects everything Tolkien wrote so lovingly and mutated it into something unbearable to watch.
This world is stealing away everything that was good and wholesome, mutating it into a series of the same old same old unimaginative garbage.
Such a shame that they wasted so much money on something so uninspiring and bland.
At least we can rewatch Peter Jackson's Trilogy.
Resident Evil (2022)
IBDM should put Minus Stars for Ratings
Oh yes! This one doesn't deserve a star it deserves a Turd Emoji.
Netflix has officially reached rock bottom with this soap opera masquerading as Resident Evil, the acting worthy of The Cringe Awards, the storytelling done by a low IQ 5 year old, the FX are throwbacks from the early 90s, the entire thing is a mess, I just saw 2 episodes, I hate to be tortured, I'm not a masochist.
In short, if you ever played the game and loved it, it's nothing like it, the writer obviously never played it, just don't waste your time with this pile of turds.
I'm truly considering letting Netflix go.
RRR (Rise Roar Revolt) (2022)
MAGNIFICENT
This is one of the best movies I've ever seen. The compelling story, the action goes beyond the imagination, the choreography of the sequences art at its finest, the colors so tastefully chosen, the sceneries so perfectly arranged, the CGI perfectly used to tell the story, the acting moved me.
This is what movie making is all about.
My breath was taken away.
I couldn't recommend it more.
Jiu Jitsu (2020)
Wow, just wow...
It's been such a long long long time since I've seen such a bad movie, I mean, it's so bad it's hypnotizing.
I really believe this was filmed with a cellphone using cheap camera FX filters and the acting could make Al Pacino cry for real.
One thing's not clear, why oh why did the Cage sign for this one. Vacation money?
Watch it with close friends, have a laugh and good luck.
The Mandalorian (2019)
This is true Star Wars
Jon Favreau should've been the one in charged of writing Episodes VII, VIII and IX of the Star Wars saga.
The Mandalorian is spectacular, a true gift to all of us who loved the original movies.
Dark (2017)
A masterpiece.
I would give it a 101 if I could somehow go back in time and influence whoever decided to use this 5 star rating system to a more ample 100 points system.
This show is by far the best TV show ever made. Little did I know, in all this time, that I had this perfect piece of mind blowing entertainment right under my fingertips.
Thank you Netflix.
Black Summer (2019)
Gritty, suspenseful and realistic
This series, with its obvious low budget, flaws, with an unknown cast and overall limitations is the best zombie apocalypse based story I've ever seen on the small screen and in the movies.
It portrays humanity at its very worst and very limited best, when your life is really REALLY on the line the instinct of self-preservation overrides morality at every level that you might've had.
This is a series that looks deep inside our humanity and its frailty when stressed beyond its limits, exposing what we're all deep inside, animals.
Please give this one a chance, I'm sure it will become a cult classic in a few years.
Army of the Dead (2021)
Loved it!
It is was I expected from the director of the best zombie movie ever made. I have no idea why there're so many negative reviews, about casting, acting and even the story, this isn't serious drama that's going for an Oscar, it isn't Shakespeare, it's a zombie flick with a twist I really dug, great concept, very well executed.
It's not meant to be taken so seriously that it's inspiring deeply hateful criticism, people need to chill and get a life, it's only a Netflix movie.
Invincible (2021)
This was refreshing
Binge watched the entire season in 2 nights. I'm still amazed by the story telling, character development, the story twist and basically its overall quality.
Can't wait for season 2, it's a great thing to see something refreshing and tailored for adults who still have that small child inside that wants good old comic action but with a lot of soul and mature content.
This show is perfect.
I Care a Lot (2020)
Unrealistically childish
Great cast, very poor script. Unrealistic story with an obvious unrealistic ending. "Russian mobsters" just like all other kinds of mobsters don't play around with their prey. They get nasty or they couldn't be in the game. Not a good movie at all, may satisfy people with need of overcompensating identity shortcomings.
Star Trek: Picard (2020)
This is not Star Trek
This is not Star Trek and that's not Picard, at least not the one I grew up with watching, the Captain who showed the world how to be a competent, intelligent, civilized, strong and an all-around good human being, someone we should strive to be.
Star Trek Picard took the soul out of Star Trek and erased the best character this franchise has ever created; Captain Jean Luc Picard.
ST Picard and Discovery are empty shells, devoid of what made Roddenberry's creation/vision a dream humanity should strive for and corrupted it to become, well, just garbage... all for money.
It's a disgrace.
The Expanse (2015)
I'm amazed.
Just when I thought there was nothing but superhero movies, recycled stories, rebooted garbage and a general lack of high quality storytelling, directing and acting in the sci-fi cinematic and big screen movies or shows world here came The Expanse and amazed me beyond words.
Damn this show is good! Solid, no loopholes, logical, intelligent, exciting, soulful, beautiful, scientifically outstanding... I'm at a loss for words to describe how good it really is.
If you're a sci-fi lover, this show is as good as Star Trek and TNG. This is a cult classic, no doubt about it.
Coming 2 America (2021)
Stop using nostalgia
This movie is a waste of time, relying purely on nostalgia to sell itself, recycling the original script with truly awkward results. This was yet another sequel that didn't need to be done.
Hollywood needs to stop recycling and/or rebooting previously successful movies. Hire new brains that can write original material.
The Bad Batch (2016)
Damn! Just damn...
I'm in for "unusual" underground kind of movies, my favorites being dystopian future based ones, but this one, damn! Completely pointless, it basically has nothing to say whatsoever. I have no idea why and how they've managed to sign good actors for this one and why these stars accepted to be in such a flick.
A complete waste of time.
