A beautiful empty shell
26 December 2023
Romanticizing a fraudulent lifestyle.

The first swindler-sultan lures a girl into his way of life, her father easily raises money by deception, she lures a policeman who also liked being a swindler. Everywhere you spit in the plot - there are only crooks.

The plot moves are so tale in the bad sense of the word, so much so that giving examples would only do them credit.

The wonderful cast, including Larisa Dolina, justify their roles to the best of their talent. Only they can save this terrible tale.

The operator work is beautiful and the very nice picture enhances the watchability.

Overall, it's a beautiful empty shell with antisocial morals.

Changed lifestyle
9 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The third film adaptation of the novel by Tadeusz Dolenga-Mostowicz.

1937 - first film adaptation 1982 - second film adaptation

It's surprising that this is considered a Polish film. Surprising because it is thoroughly imbued with modern American morality. This modern morality is superimposed on the history of a hundred years ago in Poland. They would have moved the action to the modern USA and there would be no problem, but no, they left the action in Poland in the early 1920s and until the end of the 1930s and changed the lifestyle of those people so that it would be politically correct for today's viewer.

In order. (1) was 1937/1982, (2) became 2023.

Surgeon (1) owner of his own clinic. Surgeon (2) is a hired doctor dependent on the board of directors of the clinic. Patients must have health insurance.

In version (1) furs are given as a gift, in version (2) furs are disposed of.

The surgeon (1) overcomes the grief of his wife's departure in a tavern and is robbed by bandits. Surgeon (2) is the victim of an assassination attempt organized by the Second Surgeon of the clinic.

Between episodes there were (1) 12 years, (2) 15 years.

Marysya (1) is very modest, about 19 years old, lives with her aunt, works in her shop, where many people buy tobacco, her ultimate dream is a successful marriage. Marysya (2) is very self-confident, she is 20-22 years old, works as a waitress in a tavern with alcohol where no one smokes, rents a room on her own, earns money for her studies. The tavern is run by a large family of Jews.

Smoking is no longer fashionable and the girl should be older, stronger and want to learn.

Melnik (1) Belarusian and his large family are baptized in the Orthodox way, respect Catholics, and at the everyday level do not like Jews.

A lonely miller's widow (2) lives with her father/brother, who is baptized as a Catholic.

Count (1) looks after Marysya beautifully and respectfully. Count (2) brazenly argues with his friend about the girl, and then takes her for a ride on a motorcycle and Marysya gets behind the wheel herself.

The Surgeon-Medicine (1) treats the legs of the Miller's son. The Surgeon-Medicine (2) treats the legs of a worker. Marysya breaks into the old count's house and demands that he pay for the worker's treatment from a certified doctor.

Count (2) brings delicacies to the patient. It seems that at the time (1) it was impossible to even think about such things.

The Miller (1) asks the Medicine Man to live at home with his family after curing his son. The miller's wife (2) seduces the Witch Doctor and marries him to herself.

Marysya (2) kisses the Count herself and gives herself to him.

Feminism to its fullest. In times (1) this is unthinkable!

And then more. The Witch Doctor (1) steals the tools and performs an operation on Marysa, and in the 2023 version, the Miller (2) steals the tools and convinces the Witch Doctor to perform an operation on Marysa.

The Countess (2) offers a bribe to Marysa. Here, too, is an attempt to figure it out like a woman.

Marysya (2) herself understands who her father is and announces this in court. The second surgeon (1) announces in court who the Witch Doctor is.

Finale (1): father and daughter at the cemetery lay flowers on the grave of their wife and mother.

Finale (2): two cheerful weddings in a Jewish tavern.

Movie blooper 1: a child with a traumatic brain injury is carried in their arms and tossed.

Movie blooper 2: chickens. They are the same ones that run through all the scenes of the film. On the street, at the policeman's, at the mill, in the tavern... Everywhere! The same set of chickens :)

One good thing about the 2023 version is the first scene connecting father and daughter. This didn't happen in the novel, and that's really important.

The Power of Love
24 November 2023
Biographical movie about the love of Celine Dion. Yes, that's right, not about the entire history of her life, not about the greatness of her personality (although all the main milestones are shown), but about love. There is no need to demand from a movie what it does not claim to be.

Love for parents, brothers and sisters, for children, and most touchingly, for her husband. Everything is imbued with tenderness and care.

The seriousness of her husband's illness is indicated by the soundtrack from Nature Boy, which in the film "Moulin Rouge!" was the poignant theme of the inevitable end from phthisis.

Valérie Lemercier is the scriptwriter, director and leading actress. Well, any whim for your money. Born in 1964 and 171 cm tall, playing a short 12-year-old girl in a 2020 film is a daunting task. She does an excellent job in the role, but it's clear that her face is at least 40 years old, despite all the makeup. Looks like a sick child.

In general, it's a good.

With love and pain
23 November 2023
With love and pain, a series was filmed by a creative team about beloved Abkhazia.

Many positive characters and actions - with love!

Many negative characters and actions - with pain!

Yes, such is life. Such is the Motherland. And how do you want to talk about her, but without crying? With humor, with naivety, with hope for a bright future.

National color, the recent war with Georgia, the current internal political situation and relations between people - all this became the subject of display and reflection.

Perhaps only the most pressing issue has been left out. The war itself: its causes, course, consequences. Looks like the time hasn't come yet.

The disclaimer before each episode suggests that the script was written with an understanding of the processes taking place in Abkhazia, although it is impossible to judge whether this is true or not from afar.

Fight and death for love
18 October 2023
About love.

A sea of blood and a sea of love.

Two dandelion boys and one chick find themselves in a bandit environment and are forced to overcome mortal dangers, from which they harden and become people with strong characters, not inferior to the bandits.

They fight and die for love. In the past and present. In Russia and Kazakhstan. At home, on the street, in prison and in the desert. All, everywhere, always.

Many episodes take place in Kazakhstan with the addition of national flavor in traditions that are very close and understandable to the residents of Russia. The closest intertwining of destinies in the past unites peoples even now.

Music and cinematography are separate assets.

Ignoble mission
7 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The most ignoble mission of the IMF team.

Why is the IMF team collecting information on high-ranking officials for themselves, and not for the press or the police?

Officials can break laws and morals, but the IMF team will always cover them?

And again, doctors are involved for the purposes of the team. This reduces the credibility of varches in general. You go to the procedures, and there the policeman can ask the doctor to inject you with truth serum and it is not known how the body will react after receiving something instead of medicine.

Among the various penetrations in different episodes of the series, this story includes penetration through the glass of a skyscraper and through the back wall of a safe built into the wall.

Chemical Weapons Convention
7 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Poisoning the water supply with a paralyzing drug would today be interpreted as the use of chemical weapons of mass destruction.

The Chemical Weapons Convention entered into force on April 29, 1997.

Therefore, in fact, for 1969 everything is legal, but it looks shocking.

This episode also talks about two American scientists who went over to the side of the enemy, but not a word about their motivation. Money? Communists?

Otherwise, everything is pretty standard: replacing people, using a face mask, penetrating walls, using technical gadgets. And yes, a blow with the edge of the palm is generally the style of that time.

Mission: Impossible: The Code (1969)
Season 4, Episode 1

The plot refers to history
7 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
About 10 years before this episode was filmed, Fidel Castro and Ernesto Che Guivara successfully revolutionized Cuba. Fidel remained in charge of Cuba, while Ernesto dreamed of new revolutions.

The image of the curator from UPR (United People's Republic) in a Russian shirt leaves no doubt that the USSR is represented under UPR. Also, Vicente Bravo is a puppet of the UPR, drawing a parallel to Fidel - a puppet of the USSR.

Ernesto Che Guivara was very popular at that time as a selfless revolutionary and fighter against capitalism, and here an attempt was made to lower this popularity through episodes of bargaining for power and money.

Nueva Tierra - Cuba Vicente Bravo - Fidel Castro El Lider - Ernesto Che Guivara UPR - USSR

Hide and seek in the car, the use of masks, infiltration at all levels, the use of technical bells and whistles - it's all pretty standard and not so interesting to analyze.

Tully (2018)

Tully is an alter ego!
18 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
A woman on the verge of a nervous breakdown. A young son with hyperactivity creates problems for his mother and at school. In this case, the third one will be born. Huge belly, childbirth, constantly crying newborn. Milk, which must be decanted regularly. A husband who is hiding in the bedroom behind a game console or on business trips. Everything is very naturalistic. Too? No, these problems can be in reality. Yet immediately and bring it to ...

Suddenly, out of nowhere (on recommended), a night nanny is taken from the appearance of which the child stops crying. Prior to that, shouting without ceasing, and then no, no. No sound. The nanny was not only a nanny, but also a hidden psychotherapist. She helped with the housework, in love for herself, in relations with her husband, and having adjusted everything disappeared. In the finale of conjugal idyll.

Tips: 1) mother baked cupcakes, 2) maiden name, 3) diagnosed lack of sleep, 4) nanny without injuries, 5) dreams of water.

That's just not clear how a woman having gone to unreal managed to fix everything, and not lose her mind.
