Doctor Who (2023)
Disney does it again.
Many true Whovians were scared at what Disney would do to the Iconic BBC series. When you thought Moffit would kill our beloved Doctor. Wait let Disney bring Russell T Davies to the plate. They have taken good and at times great written series and turned them into this cheap, childish and campy. It's so painful to see a show that stepped forward is no been forced to become this shell of itself. A song and dance routine? It won't be Jodi or Ncuti that will kill this show. It will be Bob, Russell and Alisa that will silence a 50+ year running show. So sorry to Ncuti you are never going to be given that chance to make you become the Doctor. Tom Baker brought the Doctor to my life and will forever be my Doctor. Ncuti sorry you won't be able to give that joy to young viewers. It wasn't you it was them.
Peter Pan & Wendy (2023)
Painful in so many ways.
When you write and direct the movie you tend to put blinders on and steam straight ahead with that vision. This movie shows how that can at times turn out badly. You don't get attached or vested in any of the characters. They just go on about doing their lines with no passion or even emotion at times. It's so forced and comes off badly for all involved. This movie tried to be so different than other remakes or interpretations of this classic book. Being different is ok. But when being different is all you have going for your movie that tends to make the move bearable for only so long. Another life action flop from Disney.
Last Flag Flying (2017)
Touching to ones that been there.
This movie sadly touches on the emotions of ones that sadly have gone thru this personally. The struggle of why, the battle of if you are doing the right thing. The laughter of recalling the fun moments of your loved one taken from you to soon. It draws generations of servicemen together that it maybe a different war but, the same thoughts, fear, experiences and raw emotion are all the same. It touches so many sadly this story. Even worse so few will get the true meaning of this story.
The Florida Project (2017)
Horrible, painful and annoying movie.
Just a hard movie to even get thru. Watching in itself is more then the struggle the cast portrays on screen. To watch a movie that parents refuse to do anything for themselves is annoying and disgusting. Clearly a movie trying to documentary but falls extremely short of that goal.
Yes the pay for service industry jobs are not great. Yes the housing market in Orlando has gotten beyond the medium income of some people. However you don't try to better yourself you fail not only yourself but the community as a whole.
This "movie" has such one sided slant to it. You don't feel sorry for them. You feel disgusted by them.
It (2017)
Lacking tension and fear
Like many who have reviewed this movie, I too have the same complaints. The movies falls extremely short of the book in regards of a suspense or a thriller. One begins to question did anyone from the writers to the director ever read the source material. Hell even watching the original movie might of helped.
Bill Skarsgärd was going to have a tough challenge ahead of him to even come close to Tim Curry's performance. Anyone would. He just doesn't project the creepy, scary, edge of your seat performance. The kids in the movie have been written to be more like the kids from Stranger Things then the kids from Derry, ME.
Beauty and the Beast (2017)
Just painful
I do wanted to love this or even like it. Some movies just need to never be remade and should never become life action. If it was taken from the Broadway musical then it would have a chance. Sadly it just struggles to find its place between the musical and the animated movie. It fall short of either of those. The CGI shortly into the movie just becomes painful and hard to take. It's over done. Yes it's hard to make life action talking kitchen utensils or talking clocks. But, at least try not to make it look like a few life action people in a CGI world.
A Face in the Crowd (1957)
A making of a star
Truly think Andy Griffith would of been Hollywood's next big man on the silver screen if it wasn't for his time as a small town sheriff. He simply owns the screen not only with his large frame and big booming voice but, owns it with his range from a small town hick to a man that believes his own hype once coming to the big city.
This by far is one of the best performances you will see not only from Andy but from anyone.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017)
If you love CGI this one for you.
This movie is filled with CGI effects. If you love that sort of movie then by all means this is right up alley. Looking for a movie that has a great story and brings new life to this series then you are sadly mistaken. It lakes a great story. There is one there but, have to use special effects in order to tell it. Sad that a once decent series has come down to this. Two movies to many I'm afraid. Time to truly let this franchise sink to the bottom never to be seen again. PLEASE.
