Loverboy (2011)
5/10
Not a movie with nice backgrounds, but a movie about the sad truth.

This may sound as a defence against other reviews that may not understand the life in the country that this movie was produced. A movie doesn't have to be nice or have nice backgrounds. A movie needs to convey a message, this movie represents the reality in wich prostitution is born in Romania, it is not supposed to be nice, it is ugly, sad, desolate. The scenes are dirty, resembling poor villages, people in the lower class of society, bad music and desperate humans. I don't expect the western culture to understand it but saying it is bad because it is doing and showing what it was supposed to do and show is just wrong. It is a great movie? No. Absolutely not. Is it a good movie to take a peak inside the horrible process of prostitution that starts in the poor villages of Romania? (the manipulation, the blindness to danger in full sight, emotional blackmailing and more) yes. The movie was low budget and part of a campaign against human trafficking in Romania.
