Arcane: League of Legends (2021)
Decent product, worthy of my time
I've only finished episode 1 just now, so the following review shan't be of much detail or spoiler, but overall the show is fine. The plot is swiftly executed from the beginning until the end, and its smoothness is similar to that of a 7+ TV Show thanks to the well depicted gestures, postures and lines of its characters. Despite having a cliche set of predictable personalities for the main roles, Arcane had accomplished what many animated shows out there simply aren't capable of -make both those familiar to the world of LoL as well as those new to the series feel attached. The acting, the plot, the setting, the music, in my opinion there's a fine touch to each and every of these fields, and that's why when mixed together, it creates coherence, which isn't an easy feat for any animation product within a world as complex and colorful while also dark and fascinating such as that of Arcane. They nailed it, so well done. I'm proud of you, Riot. At least you've figured it's better doing something else than to keep messing with the balance of champions and forging shiny skins with little gain in the long term. In conclusion, a nice show, perhaps not among the best even in the sphere of animated series but definitely worth a try.
-Tips: If you wish to experience Arcane in its finest, please take a seat, make yourself comfortable and let loose your expectation just a little bit. Don't worry, you shall be entertained soon enough.
Vincenzo (2021)
A shinny and precious pear with endless potential.... had been wasted
From the very first episodes, it's easy to find the story, plot work, pacing,... was all done perfectly. From how Vincenzo is introduced (I hate how unrealistic the fire spread though) to the schemes, how strong Babel is build as an unpenetratable image.. All could've been something more than this. Yet it might've been this brilliant style which killed the show.
First of all: Everything was done perfectly right-on-time like a 2nd grade fomula. Yes good pacing can sometime do great, like how it hyped people's feelin when Joon Woo show off his identity (uwu gud stuff). But what's unforgivetable is how it breaks the beautiful setting that this show provided. We all know lucky moments and coincidences are sometime acceptable as it's reasonable to happen and will only make the scenes more awesome. But bruh not in this case, bc they freakin spammed it! The amount of oopsie moments that were created only for the shake of helping the protagonist and his companions are immesurable. Remember how Vincenzo and plaza owner closed the shelter's door right on time in ep ? Or when he arrive just b4 main girl of the show have her face punched? These little but ugly details totally ruined my experience as it's bland out unrealistic.
Secondly: Weak character building followed up by weak script. Seriously, Paolo the gangster boss is nothing but a bullied child who dare do nothing, even can't take revenge on Vincenzo's driver when his master is abroad. And I was totally dissapointed seeing how Vincenzo easily kidnapped, tortured, got information from frankly any bad guys. It's like his aura of a normal build little baby face man and some weak measures of suffering could scare the f*ck out of everyone. Not to say no guard or security plan is effective against a korean mafia boy who works alone to invade Babel's domain and employees. Also, the poducers liked to spam backup saveboats that litterally turns the tide of the show. Oh Vincenzo is in trouble? Don't worry, he's rich and knows martial art at a superior rate! Oh plaza civilians are in danger? Don't care cause all of them know how to fight, and some are even masters of brawls. And you won't need me to speak out loud how trashy nerfed Ant Company was, right? (Although I hate it when the members of goverment and important people keep showing up to help willingly for no particular reason more)
Hmm, at this rate I think further criticism is unnecessary as you may've all now capable of looking at that overrated mess called Binsenjo Cassanova with a more precise perspective. For me myself, well the only reason I watched it to the end is 'cause of Joon Woo's actin, plot and role (as it's acted brilliantly with some manners of being the most realisticccc and No.1 part of the whole show uwu)
Brrrr idk but if your taste is of not very high standard, this TV-series can still entertain you well...... to a certain level that is.
Bo Gia (2021)
Better than most Vietnamese movies these days, yet ain't enough for a global scale
Well.. the first think I have to point out is: the credits did their job well. They used those "foreign-influenced" techniques pretty swift, like with the camera corners, plot setting and pretty much the whole film itself. While this might appear like an overwhelming advantage, it also reveals the movie's weakest spot, which is the fact that it isn't special. What possibly went wrong exactly? Can't you see those great reviewers from all around the country are prasing it? Is there anything wrong with ya? A Vietnamese who deny the speciality of his country's products? Well, in fact.. yeah. The reason I, a n Vietnamese can see through all of this is pretty simple actually. It's because I love movies, TV shows, -you name it. My interest in films is just so great I gained knowledge and wisdom in defining their values. So when I watch Bo Gia, I did it with the viewpoint of an actual criticizer, not some normal audience. And for me, it's pretty much obvious to say the movie ISN'T SPECIAL. Yep, nothing bad about it, the acting is fine, the scenes are all executed nicely, the plot either rushed or gone too far. Everything was done just fine, good even, especially considering the fact all the studios are from the famous rice field. Yet, cause everything was done alright, nothing is greater than expected. It's like if from the very first 30 minutes of the movie, you already knew how they did the rest. There are some plot-twists, yes, and some artistic camera plays aswell, but in the end, nothing stand out from it. The messege is weak and forgetable, cliché even. The acting is good.. enough. No great stuff, no great scene, some drops did run out of my eyes, yet nothing more. In the end, I shall call it an "Audience Pleaser", cause Bo Gia is very well displayed on the big screen, but when you're done watching, you may just forget the whole thing right away.
